Masha, your stellar journey, which began in Denmark and continues in the USA, is incredibly inspiring. You have built an impressive career in modeling, acted in films alongside global stars, and been recognized as one of the sexiest women in the world. How did your decision to move from Denmark to Los Angeles at 20 impact your success? What was the most challenging part of adapting to your new life?
I was on holiday in LA when many agents and photographers approached me. At the time, I was still living with my mom in a small town outside Copenhagen. When I returned home, I decided to explore the possibility of moving to California to pursue a career in modeling and acting. One of the agents I met offered to sponsor me to work in LA, and the rest is history. I arrived on a three-year work visa and never looked back. As soon as I moved, my career took off—I was constantly busy with auditions and opportunities, and I had a lot of fun. For a young girl who had grown up near the forest, suddenly going to auditions at Paramount Studios and other Hollywood locations was a surreal experience.
However, adapting to this new life wasn’t easy. Moving from my mom’s home to the other side of the world alone, with limited knowledge of English, no friends or family, and having to learn how to drive in a big city with enormous freeways—it was a real challenge. The extensive freeway in Denmark has only two lanes, so navigating LA traffic was overwhelming. I had to attend multiple castings almost every day, and back then, we didn’t have smartphones or cars with GPS. I would plan my routes using a paper map, but sometimes, I couldn’t find the location. Driving a manual car in LA traffic didn’t make things any easier.
Another major challenge was knowing whom to trust in Hollywood. I was young and naive, and looking back, I realize I probably trusted too many of the wrong people too quickly. The entertainment industry is challenging, especially for young women from smaller countries who don’t have a strong support system. It was a difficult lesson to learn.

Now, you live in Miami and have launched your skin care brand, BluBerri Beauty, focusing on natural ingredients. What inspired you to create this brand? What skincare principles did you develop throughout your modeling career, and how did they shape BluBerri Beauty? Which products from your line would you consider must-haves and why?
I wanted women of all ages to look and feel good. Drawing from my own experience, I also wanted to create products that are both effective and affordable. It was important to me that the packaging looked luxurious without making consumers pay extra for it—something beautiful enough to display on your bathroom counter and enjoy using.
During my modeling career, I had to wear heavy makeup daily while still trying to care for my skin. I quickly learned that the most natural products are often the best and that effective skincare doesn’t have to come from a vast luxury brand or cost hundreds of dollars. BluBerri Beauty is built on this philosophy, incorporating ingredients that genuinely benefit the skin—especially anti-aging ingredients like hyaluronic acid.
My absolute must-have product is the setting spray. It’s refreshing, contains vitamin C, and can be used both before applying makeup and after, keeping your skin hydrated and glowing throughout the day. Plus, it’s small enough to fit into any handbag, a lifesaver for girls always on the go.
What is it like to be not just the face of a brand but its creator? What challenges did you face when launching BluBerri Beauty? What is the biggest myth about beauty and skincare that you’d like to debunk?
There is more pressure when you’re the creator of a brand rather than just its ambassador. Your name and reputation are on the line, so you must be proud of what you create and prepared to handle any challenges. You can’t just hide behind the camera.
Getting the formulation exactly right was crucial—I wanted to include only the best ingredients to ensure lasting results. At the same time, I had to compete with all the celebrity brands flooding the market. When I was launching BluBerri Beauty, it felt like every celebrity was releasing their skincare line. It’s a highly competitive industry to break into.
The biggest myth I want to debunk is that skincare has to be expensive to be effective. That’s simply not true.

What is the most important lesson you’ve learned from the fashion and beauty industry, and how has it shaped you as an entrepreneur?
I’ve learned that hard work and perseverance are key to achieving your dreams and goals—you can’t give up easily. But beyond that, it’s essential to surround yourself with good people who support and motivate you and, most importantly, who are trustworthy.
I’ve also realized that age is just a number. You can start something new at any point in life with the passion and determination to make it happen.
