With over a billion people using the app every month, TikTok is one of the most popular social media platforms available to date. Its addictive quality and high levels of engagement make it popular with people of all ages. Social media expert Dejon Brooks knows a thing or two about what makes a post go viral, and he’s sharing his secrets with the world through his company, Trend Watchers.
People often go viral for a completely random reason, and every post is either a hit or a miss. Trend Watchers helps creators develop content that resonates with their audience and identifies ways to capitalize on them to grow their online following.
Before starting Trend Watchers, Brooks was a full-time YouTuber back in 2016, with over two million views a month until his channel got demonetized in 2017. According to Brooks, the key to getting all of this traffic was to hop on the trends before they blew up or as they were blowing up.
Aside from making sure creators aren’t late to the party, Brooks also advised content creators to focus on creating quality content that is entertaining or educational. “People are more likely to share something if they find it valuable,” he said.
The idea for Trend Watchers began as a doomed senior-year project at a local high school. Since Brooks became famous on YouTube by riding a trend, he reasoned that this must be the case for other content producers and came up with a business plan to help others do the same.
In practice, Trend Watchers has proven to be a very successful business. Brooks’s quest began in his parent’s basement when he was 18. He even exchanged all of his Ethereum during his days of planning for the launch of Trend Watchers. A lot of hard effort culminated in May 2020 with the introduction of Trend Watchers Version 1. Development, difficulties, and new insights have all been cyclical features since then.
“It took me hours of research to find trending topics which is what inspired me to create Trend Watchers. The vision of Trend Watchers is to have a hub where creators can find trending topics across 50+ categories at ease,” Brooks shared. Additionally, it took him more than two years to settle on a profitable business plan for Trend Watchers, which his current business model now represents. As a stepping stone, the brand provides a free version of the program, and visitors who enjoy their stellar offerings may pay for a regular monthly or annual membership.
In the next five years, Brooks hopes to turn Trend Watchers into one of the leading software/coaching firms in the industry, with a primary focus on assisting millions of influencers in making trends go viral. On top of that, he also aims to share his journey of building his business from the ground up with other budding entrepreneurs by collating all his experiences in two informative books.
As TikTok continues to be a crowd favorite, Trend Watchers is also transitioning to helping Tiktok, Instagram reels, and Youtube Short content creators. At the moment, Trend Watchers is committed to assisting YouTube content producers in becoming viral.
