Social Media Expert Ezgi Eren Gives Insights on Working Behind the Scenes in New York

Millennials have had the privilege of watching the digital landscape evolve for the past two decades, going from MySpace to Facebook. Ezgi Eren is an individual whose interest in the social media world inspired her to understand the online network. Today, she is one of the most sought-after social media producers and managers.

For almost a decade, Ezgi has worked behind the scenes in some of the most challenging industries. She has delved into beauty, fashion, and entertainment, working with some of the most prominent brands and going behind the scenes in some of the world’s most high-profile events.

The social media expert had humble beginnings, working downtown on Howard Street as an intern at Opening Ceremony’s Web office. While the internship laid the foundation for her career, it also introduced her to the world of art, fashion, and culture. “I helped plan social media posts, analyze website and social media traffic, and got to have my first taste of being behind the scenes at fashion shoots and events,” Ezgi revealed. She would later begin her professional career at Finery, a fashion technology startup that allowed her to put her studies to use. In addition, the experience gave her further knowledge about social media and content production, leading her to build a social media presence for a brand from scratch.

When it comes to education, Ezgi has acknowledged that studying has given her valuable insight into understanding social media’s place among different storytelling methods. “That’s the unique approach I try to bring to my services, whether I’m helping a brand build an identity or an individual communicate with their followers,” she shared.

Ezgi Eren has offered her professional services to her clients for the Academy Awards, the Met Ball, and even New York Fashion Week, among many others. She describes her experiences as wildly different but equally unforgettable. While Ezgi had always been aware of the arduous tasks that New York Fashion Week brought, she discovered that working there would take her on a marathon, running from one show to the other with barely any sleep or time for food. “It takes stamina!” she described.

Nevertheless, Ezgi remained on-call, assisting her clients in every way she could. Despite how contrasting both events were, Ezgi revealed that they shared a common trait. “It takes a village to create the spectacles that people can see on screen,” she said, “And it was an incredible honor to have even a small part in both events over the years.

The social media expert’s approach to her work has always been about creative storytelling. “It’s all about knowing your audience and the best way to capture their interest with your content,” Ezgi elaborated. Her approach has allowed her to become one of the most widely acclaimed social media producers and managers in the space.

With social media evolving from being a tool for communication to an extension of people’s identity, Ezgi Eren encourages people to be mindful of the things they say, especially in a time where what we say or do online can have real life consequences. “If you wouldn’t say something out in the real world, don’t say it on social media,” she urged, “Present your true and authentic self, but don’t think what you do or say doesn’t matter just because you’re behind a screen.”
