Copper’s Provenance
The circa 1880s copper, mined in Norway and forged in Paris, used in the commemorative artifact held the Gustave Eiffel-engineered iron infrastructure together, which was removed from the Statue of Liberty during its sweeping centennial 1984-1986 restoration to be replaced with steel. The copper, and, in fact, the entire infrastructure that was revolutionary at the time and was responsible for the statue’s resilience to weather, along with a number of other metal relics, were considered to have considerable historic significance.
Consequently, they were privately preserved under archival conditions for decades until the inception of the current made-in-America project, which is slated to use all of the remaining copper.

Charitable Cause Connection
Twenty percent of sales proceeds are dedicated to notable charitable organizations. Ten percent is dedicated to supporting Belcourt of Newport, a circa 1985 Gilded Age Newport, RI mansion turned museum designed by Richard Morris Hunt, who was also responsible for the Statue of Liberty’s pedestal. Dedicated to life, art, music, and the preservation of the metals and artifacts removed from Lady Liberty during her restoration, Belcourt opened The Bones of the Statue of Liberty on July 4, the world’s only permanent exhibition of the relics removed from the Statue of Liberty during her restoration.
Belcourt is also the home of the American Liberty Assembly, convening for the first time in 2027 as a nonpartisan gathering of relevant thought leaders who will explore the state of the country’s freedoms and liberties. Design Rooted in Symbolism
The .57 gram, 30 mm in diameter Real Liberty Copper coin is minted with eight sides symbolizing stability and balance.
The high-relief design features Liberty gazing to the heavens on the face.. She is encircled by 50 stars representing the states united, guided by liberty. Her torch rests at her heart, referring to liberty living within each individual, while her headband honors the labor, effort, and sacrifice required to keep liberty alive.
