Sometimes dreams and visions don’t pan out the way we imagined. Sometimes it ends up even better than we could have thought. Edward Davis always wanted to be a pro football player, but his career ended early and he had to find another dream to fulfill. Sticking to football, his path showed him that he could still live his dream while helping others realize theirs in pro sports as well.
Edward decided to become a professional sports agent after watching Deion Sanders’ election into the Hall of Fame. Deion’s agent inspired him to stay true to what he loved and keep pushing for the stars. Edward was in no short supply of dedication as he had to overcome substantial financial setbacks in the first year of business, with Covid-19 shutdowns bringing the entire industry to its knees.
He realized that many of the costly mistakes he experienced in the first year could have been avoided if the proper guidance, resources, and mentorship had been available for new pro sports agents such as himself. So he set out to create a comprehensive platform that would fill that gap, “I went through all that pain and suffering, and I vowed that once I had that breakthrough, I was going to make sure that I can help other people avoid that, which is why I made this program.”
When it comes to new agents, Edward suggests that they come in with a willingness to learn and absorb everything available, “Be coachable; don’t be the guy with all the answers when you haven’t had success yet…Find someone that’s doing what you want to do and pay whatever it costs to learn from them.” When you don’t use the resources at your disposal to make the efforts required to achieve goals, potential is wasted.
Edward Davis looks forward to working with new agents to the industry, teaching them what he has learned and providing the support he needed when he first began. He has refined his recruiting process and talent search, making him a professional and successful agent in the field. Being a minority has presented him with certain challenges other agents may not have faced, but it also gives him the opportunity to bring a unique aspect to the table. Growth is on his mind for this upcoming season, both as an agent to athletes, and as the agent of agents.
