She is stepping into children’s literature with a series of exciting books, Susie & Johnny Grilled Cheese – Take an Out of This World Adventure, Susie & Johnny Grilled Cheese Take a Ride through the Rainforest, and Susie & Johnny Grilled Cheese Discover What’s Over A Rainbow.
Erin Dullaghan Jones is a woman of many talents. But besides her thriving career in marketing, she was always interested in writing and exploring her creativity. Even while pursuing a marketing specialist career, she continued to learn better ways to word her ideas on paper.
Several experienced and talented mentors also helped her polish this skill before pursuing a career as an author. Gradually, it all came to fruition when the Louisville-based company owner decided to expand her publishing division to try her luck in writing. Her vision behind establishing this department was to raise people’s knowledge using captivating stories. She says imagination is a great foundation; however, learning something new is always essential, whether through fun facts or a story.
Erin began her in. Mode Marketing journey in 2010 using her experience in PR and marketing to establish a company that can meet the requirements of a diverse clientele. She used her expertise in public relations, crisis communication, event marketing, and social media strategy to cater to departments ranging from consumer goods to philanthropy.
But that’s not the only thing that describes Erin as an accomplished person; this talented lady is also a mom to three beautiful children: Amelia, Emerson, and Campbell. They are her most prominent critics and motivators in her writing career.
The Many Inspirations Behind Erin’s Children’s Book
Erin’s inspiration for the books goes back to when she ate grilled cheese and tomato soup in childhood. Despite being a constant in her daily menu, it was still her favorite. The child within her savored the coziness and warmth of it, and the creative part within her compelled her to turn her childhood staple into her children’s favorite characters, aka—Susie and Johnny Grilled Cheese.
Susie and Johnny Grilled Cheese is a multipart bedtime read for children aged four to ten. Erin’s inspirations behind the book were many, but the driving force was her twin girls and son and their avid enthusiasm for stories. It follows the journey of two grilled cheese sandwich friends who meet at the bus stop daily to go to the Tomato Soup Elementary School. Between this daily commute, they come across various adventures, which can be found in Susie & Johnny Grilled Cheese – Take an Out of This World Adventure, Susie & Johnny Grilled Cheese Take a Ride through the Rainforest, and Susie & Johnny Grilled Cheese Discover What’s Over A Rainbow.
Erin loved creating stories for her little ones; her book’s characters were inspired by trivial yet impactful family moments. She often crafted stories about grilled cheese sandwich friends to entertain her children. They would listen to her intently and give their thoughts on her narratives. What started as a family bonding activity became a full-fledged publishing venture!
Erin’s Views on Children’s Literature: How It Nurtures Young Minds?
Erin believes reading and bonding over literature is the best activity to develop a child’s mind and thought process. The outcome is a beautiful example of the parent-child dynamics. At first, people begin reading to their children, helping them get familiar with reading.
As they age, children memorize their favorite stories, imagine every character, and absorb information page by page. Their intrigue and curiosity make reading a fun activity. Kids learn to indulge in literature, not as an obligation but as a favorite hobby. And before you know it, they are old enough to read books, immersing themselves in the intricate world-building and moral lessons literature offers.
Erin Dullaghan Jones’ Unique Perspective on Illustration
Visual comprehension and colors are essential to children’s entertainment and education. But books have an infinite scope for imagination where you can offer the reader creative freedom to craft worlds, build characters, and color landscapes according to their vision.
Erin Dullaghan Jones followed a similar perspective when publishing her manuscript for Susie & Johnny Grilled Cheese – Take an Out of This World Adventure, Susie & Johnny Grilled Cheese Take a Ride through the Rainforest, and Susie & Johnny Grilled Cheese Discover What’s Over A Rainbow.
Besides the storybook, she has also introduced a coloring book titled “Get Colorful With Susie and Johnny Grilled Cheese.” It is an open invitation for the creative prodigies to fill the storybook’s characters with any color they like. She has incorporated drawings and graphics of Susie and Johnny enjoying biking, swimming, and other adventures.
Erin hopes to inspire children to pen their ideas and experiences as she did. She plans to complete her book set with twelve entries and help other children transform their ideas into a book outline where their imagination knows no bounds.
