Suresh Rajasekaran: A Visionary Leader Democratizing AI

Introduction

AI is set to become as much a commonplace of our world as social media has become in the past. In today’s technology-driven world, artificial intelligence (AI) has become an essential component for businesses across various industries.

Employing Artificial Intelligence in business has major advantages primarily because of the way it can help collect and manage data. Firing up Artificial Intelligence from the get-go allows businesses to hit the ground running and nail their customer-centric strategy, streamline processes, and extract the most out of their technology investments.

With the insurmountable potential that AI holds for new and old enterprises alike, there is also a need of leaders or visionaries who yield the sagacity to guide this “AI revolution”. One such visionary leader contributing significantly to the AI landscape is Suresh Rajasekaran. With over sixteen years of industry experience, Suresh has emerged as a respected AI expert and an advocate for democratizing AI technology. As Suresh himself puts it, “AI is the most disruptive technology innovation of our lifetime”.

The Significance of an AI Visionary

To bridge this gap between the AI’s potential and its accessibility, the presence of leaders in the field becomes imperative.

Currently, as the Product Management Lead at one of the biggest software companies, Suresh is focused on helping enterprises adopt, accelerate, and scale AI solutions in their businesses.

Democratizing AI for the Greater Good

Suresh’s vision for the future is to create an end-to-end AI platform that serves as a backbone for budding AI entrepreneurs. By democratizing AI, Suresh aims to make AI technology more accessible and user-friendly for businesses of all sizes. He believes that this will allow smaller businesses to compete with larger companies, improve their operations, increase efficiency, and drive growth.

The solidification of the idea of democratizing AI by coming up with an end-to-end AI platform that supports entrepreneurs is also likely to have positive implications as far as the argument of regulating the scope and influence of AI is concerned.

In his current role, Suresh is dedicated to helping enterprises embrace AI technology by breaking down barriers that have previously made it difficult for businesses to adopt AI. His vision for an end-to-end AI platform will empower even more companies to leverage the transformative power of AI, fueling innovation and growth across industries.

As long as thought leaders and experts like Suresh Rajasekaran are consciously paving the path for AI to upgrade how business and interactions happen, the road ahead looks bright.

Long Island Divorce Rates Among the Lowest in the Nation

Image commercially licensed from Unsplash

It is believed that half of marriages end in divorce, but are the figures accurate? Well, not necessarily. In some areas, the divorce rate is significantly low. For instance, marriages in Long Island seem to last longer than in other regions. This may have a lot to do with the fact that the people there don’t rush to get married.

According to statistics, getting married in your 20s increases the possibility of getting divorced, as opposed to those who wait longer until they decide to share their life with another.

Demographics play a crucial role in divorce rates.

A society’s cultural norms have a considerable impact on the divorce rates of a specific region. In countries with a considerably high stigma surrounding divorce, there is a low chance of couples calling it quits, even if they aren’t satisfied with their marriage. On the other hand, in cultures where divorce is more common, couples are more likely to go separate ways when facing marital problems.

Education is also a common factor influencing divorce rates, as college-educated people are less likely to end a marriage than those with lower education levels. This is because educated individuals don’t prioritize marriage when they’re young. Moreover, they may be able to communicate more effectively, which can help resolve marriage conflicts. At the same time, they may know how to handle financial challenges better, so they don’t end up affecting their marriage.

On the contrary, younger couples don’t have many shared life experiences and lack communication and problem-solving skills, which are crucial in dealing with problems that arise in marriage. They tend to be more impulsive and don’t consider the implications of divorce before making the decision to separate from their partner. It is essential to mention that divorce can’t always be prevented – sometimes, no matter what you do, saving your marriage is simply not possible. If you are considering ending your marriage, getting in touch with a Long Island Divorce Lawyer is essential, as they will guide you through the legal process and help you understand your rights.

When it comes to demographics and how they affect divorces, gender roles can’t be neglected either. For example, women have fewer opportunities in some societies, keeping them stuck in unhappy or abusive marriages because they can’t be financially independent. This is not a problem in Long Island, hence the low divorce rates. The region is full of history-making women, with many female entrepreneurs shaping the world through innovative ideas and community involvement.

Communication and shared values are essential elements of a long-lasting marriage.

What do Long Island couples do differently from the rest so that they don’t end up getting divorced? The magic formula seems to be respect, shared values and strong communication. Couples who create a safe space where they can talk to each other with honesty and sensitivity have a more fulfilling marriage. Mutual respect is also crucial, as well as being supportive toward one another. Last but not least, shared values are a big part of a happy marriage because they are an indicator that a couple is moving in the same direction. They strongly influence the dynamics of a relationship, helping create an atmosphere where you can count on your partner’s understanding.

Last words

Not all marriages end up in divorce, and Long Island is proof of that. Although sometimes divorce is inevitable, long-lasting marriages do exist, and the secret to them is to celebrate love every day through mutual respect, communication, support and shared values.

How Trent Griffin-Braaf Is Empowering Underrepresented Communities Through Tech Valley Shuttle

The United States has one of the worst track records for reintroducing convicted criminals into society. According to the US Office of the Assistant Secretary for Planning and Evaluation (ASPE), federal and state prisons release over 600,000 inmates each year, and local jails cycle through approximately 9 million. Moreover, the ASPE’s records show that within the next three years, two out of three of those inmates will be rearrested, and over 50% will be reimprisoned

Inmates leaving prison realize quickly that the odds are stacked against them. “I teach businesses how to offer second chances to people who have made mistakes,” says Trent Griffin-Braaf, CEO and founder of Tech Valley Shuttle. “I collaborate with them to create welcoming, inclusive, and fair cultures. As someone who has been through the system and emerged successfully into the business sector, I can help people in similar situations do the same.”

How Trent Griffin-Braaf learned the value of second chances

As a young boy whose parents both battled addiction issues, Griffin-Braaf was forced to grow up faster than most. The tragedy of his father’s early death made a rocky childhood even more tumultuous.

“By the age of 19, I was walking a dark road,” Griffin-Braaf recalls. “My path led all the way to the criminal justice system and a 12-year sentence.”

However, sometimes the darkest moments make way for the light. Griffin-Braaf committed himself to become a better person while incarcerated. “Those years changed my life,” he remembers. “I dedicated my days to self-growth and education. At times, the oppressive prison environment made me want to give up, but I persevered.”

After serving seven years between prison and parole, Griffin-Braaf emerged from the system a new man. He defied his past, his disadvantages, and the odds to reinvent himself and lay the foundation for a better future.

Griffin-Braaf’s incarceration left him with a desire not only to improve himself but to better the lives of people around him.

“I refused to allow my past to define who I was or who I could become,” says Griffin-Braaf. “I responded to adversity by using my story to inspire others to work toward transformation. No matter what challenges are stacked against you, resilience can empower you to overcome them. I am a testament to the power of perseverance.”

How Tech Valley Shuttle keeps a community moving

Today, Griffin-Braaf is a business leader with a passion for positive community impact. He launched Tech Valley Shuttle in 2016 to offer Upstate New York residents safe and trustworthy transportation, but that is not all he wants from his company.

Griffin-Braaf is on a mission to combat poverty with transportation solutions for underserved communities. “To meet our clients’ needs, Tech Valley Shuttle provides a comprehensive suite of transportation services,” he explains. “We offer rides to community-related initiatives, have partnered with MAS to provide Medicaid-approved non-emergency transportation, and give people reliable transportation to and from the workplace. Our shuttles provide safe, clean, and trustworthy transportation solutions in the areas of healthy food access, education, and prison reform. Additionally, we give ex-felons a hand up through our Roadmap to Success program.”

Tech Valley Shuttle has grown steadily over the past seven years. As the founder of a certified minority-owned business, Griffin-Braaf represented Tech Valley Shuttle at a minority- and women-owned business (MWBE) conference in Albany, NY. While there, he educated himself, networked, and secured a business loan from Pursuit to scale the company.

“The Pursuit team believed in Tech Valley and what we are attempting to do for our community,” Griffin-Braaf recalls. “They talked over our business plan and were eager to approve the loan.”

Helping communities solve unemployment problems

“Some people in the business sector say they grow by building bridges,” Griffin-Braaf says. “I prefer to look for tunnels. We dig deep to find unmet transportation needs in our community. Then we help customers and grow our company by meeting those needs.”

Transportation options relating to workforce development are among the greatest unmet needs Griffin-Braaf currently sees in his community. Tech Valley Shuttle finds creative ways to remove these day-to-day work-related transportation barriers. In addition to making employment possible for people who are unable to commute to work, Tech Valley empowers employers with new avenues for recruiting and retention.

“Employment solutions are one of our top priorities,” comments Griffin-Braaf. “We are always building partnerships with businesses that desire to grow their employee pools by opening doors to underserved populations. These people desperately want to work and only lack the means to get to work and back home each day.”

In a nation currently struggling with high unemployment, Tech Valley Shuttle offers community solutions to that matter. Low-cost transportation gives people without cars an affordable option for commuting and gets them back to work.

“Our competitive advantage has always been our focus on customer service,” Griffin-Braaf concludes. “At Tech Valley Shuttle, we rise above the rest by putting our customers first. People who ride with us get transportation when they want it, where they want it, and at a price they can afford.”

Jamie Allen Black: A Pioneer in Empowering Women and Tackling Antisemitism

Image commercially licensed from Unsplash

Jamie Allen Black started her professional journey in the entertainment industry, but her passion for empowering women led her to become a co-founder of A More Perfect Union – an organization dedicated to supporting women recovering from domestic violence, drug addiction, and homelessness through women-to-women relationships. Over the next 25 years, she transitioned from performing to supporting extraordinary women and found herself working in the Jewish community.

Black’s work in the Jewish community began as a writer and editor at the largest Jewish women’s organization in the world. She then moved on to an organization that helped individuals on the periphery of Jewish life find their place, including the LGBTQ community, people of color, and intermarried couples. Her final position was as a CEO of a traditional New York-based grantmaking organization, where she realized her vision of creating an international hub for Jewish women social entrepreneurs and leaders.

Black is known for her thought leadership around philanthropy and helping others understand the values of nonlinear thinking and authenticity. She believes in making space for people of color and being comfortable with the unknown to create greater impact. During her tenure as CEO, she did groundbreaking work in the Jewish communal space around feminism, gender equity, and organizational culture.

One of Black’s most significant contributions was igniting the response to gender harassment and abuse in the Jewish community. She became a pioneer in those efforts by creating a safe space for women to share their stories and experiences. Black and her team also created programs and resources to help organizations respond to these issues and provided support for victims.

Black’s legacy is one of empowering women and creating a safe and supportive environment for them to thrive. Her contributions to the Jewish community and beyond have had a lasting impact on the lives of countless women. Her work serves as an inspiration for others to continue to fight for gender equality and create a world where women can live free from harassment and abuse.

Black’s work has been instrumental in giving Jewish women a platform to share their experiences and fight for their rights. Historically, antisemitism has long tarnished Jewish women’s rights, making it difficult for them to have their voices heard and be treated fairly.

Antisemitism has a long and painful history, and its impact on Jewish women’s rights cannot be ignored. From systemic discrimination and violence to everyday microaggressions, antisemitism has impeded the progress of Jewish women in achieving equality and safety.

A report by the Anti-Defamation League (ADL) found that antisemitic incidents in the United States increased by 12% in 2020, with a particularly sharp rise in physical assaults. This increase in antisemitic incidents is concerning, as it suggests that the prejudices against Jewish people are still very much present in our society.

Antisemitism has a particularly insidious effect on Jewish women, who face a unique set of challenges. They often experience intersectional discrimination due to their gender, religion, and ethnicity. Jewish women are also more likely to face online harassment and abuse than their male counterparts.

Antisemitism also harms Jewish women’s reproductive rights. A recent report by the Jewish Women’s Foundation of New York found that Jewish women have experienced discrimination when seeking reproductive healthcare services. They report being pressured to undergo sterilization or to abort pregnancies due to genetic conditions that are more common in the Jewish community.

In addition to facing discrimination in healthcare, Jewish women also face obstacles in the workplace. They are often subject to microaggressions, such as jokes or comments about their appearance or religion. These microaggressions can create a hostile work environment and limit opportunities for career advancement.

So, what can be done to combat antisemitism and protect Jewish women’s rights?

First and foremost, education is key. People must be educated about the history and impact of antisemitism, including the intersectional nature of discrimination against Jewish women. Educational institutions, community organizations, and workplaces should offer training and resources to help combat antisemitism.

In addition, individuals must speak out against antisemitism and other forms of bigotry. Silence only serves to perpetuate discrimination and hate. Allies must stand up for Jewish women and other marginalized groups, both online and in real life.

Furthermore, policies and laws must be put in place to protect Jewish women’s rights. Governments and organizations should work to ensure that healthcare is inclusive and non-discriminatory. Workplace policies should explicitly prohibit discrimination based on religion and gender, and organizations should hold individuals accountable for discriminatory behavior.

Finally, community support is crucial. Jewish women’s organizations, such as Elluminate, provide a vital network of support for Jewish women facing discrimination and harassment. Community members – practitioners and philanthropists – must come together to support and uplift Jewish women, creating a safe and inclusive space for all.

Through education, speaking out against hate, enacting policies and laws, and supporting each other, we can work towards a more just and equitable future.

One way to address antisemitism is through education and awareness campaigns that highlight the contributions of Jewish women throughout history. By shining a light on their achievements, society can recognize their value and importance, rather than focusing solely on negative stereotypes and prejudices. The Jewish Women’s Archive has an encyclopedia of women (historical and current) that can assist education and awareness.

Another approach is to promote interfaith dialogue and understanding, encouraging people from different backgrounds to come together to learn from one another and foster greater understanding and acceptance. This can involve participating in interfaith events, hosting community discussions, and building relationships across religious and cultural divides.

Additionally, it is important for governments and institutions to take a stand against antisemitism and to implement policies and programs that promote equality and inclusion. This includes enforcing anti-discrimination laws, providing resources and support for victims of hate crimes, and promoting diversity in the workplace and in other areas of society.

Ultimately, lifting up the work and voices of Jewish women so that their representation is clear will begin to overcome antisemitism. This requires a collective effort from individuals, communities, and governments. By working together to combat prejudice and promote understanding and inclusivity, we can create a world where Jewish women (and all women) are able to fully exercise their rights and reach their full potential.

How has COVID-19 affected workplace harassment?

Image commercially licensed from Unsplash

The COVID-19 pandemic has greatly affected every aspect of life, including work, education, health, and social and cultural events. The effects of the health crisis on the world’s economy and public health have been largely discussed, but there are equally important issues that were less talked about, and workplace harassment is one of them.

Discrimination and harassment in the workplace have always been sensitive and difficult to address issues for companies and organizations. When the coronavirus outbreak began, it was expected that the transition to a work-from-home work model, which many businesses had to resort to, would put an end to many of the harmful actions categorized as workplace harassment or at least reduce the likelihood of remote employees being treated in a discriminatory manner. While that may have been the case for some employees, the pandemic did not stop workplace harassment in its tracks but rather altered the nature and increased certain types of discrimination.

As a New Jersey workplace discrimination attorney at Castronovo & McKinney explains, it is illegal for all employers to discriminate against an employee or job applicant on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, physical or mental disability, age, gender, sexual orientation, and other protected characteristics. So, let’s see what happened during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Discrimination based on age

Soon after the spread of the virus, the World Health Organization warned that older adults are more susceptible to Covid-19 infection due to the physiological changes associated with aging. While both employers and employees should be aware of the increased risks for older employees, it does not mean this should impact in any way the way employers treat or interact with workers from this category. It has been reported that some employees inquired more often about the health of older staff members, cut back their working hours, created hostile work environments or went as far as terminating their contracts.

Racial discrimination

Given that the pandemic originated in China, there was a lot of hate directed toward Asians around the world, as many people blamed them for spreading the virus. This saw an increase in racial discrimination against employees of Asian origin, regardless of if they had any relation with China or not. Many Asian workers reported being more closely monitored for coronavirus symptoms than their Non Asian peers, being marginalized, having their hours cut or receiving hostile treatment from co-workers simply because of their race.

Disability discrimination

The work climate also changed for some employees with disabilities. In many situations, the company they were working for failed to provide adequate accommodation to give them equal opportunities and allow them to fully do their job. It was also noted that some employees treated disabled staff members differently because they perceived them as being more likely to contract the virus and spread it in the workplace.

Harassment of remote workers

Employees who had to work remotely were not necessarily sheltered from workplace harassment and discrimination. Remote work made it more difficult to establish clear boundaries between personal and professional life, leaving the door open for sexual harassment.

Gold Investor and Music Producer Mikhail Peleg Shares Insightful Tips for Effective Mentorship

Image commercially licensed from Unsplash

Last week, I connected with a successful entrepreneur, music producer, and philanthropist Mikhail Peleg. As a global investor, Peleg specializes in gold as an asset class. He maintains strong working relationships with the world’s largest banks and investment firms and has developed a positive reputation among the investment community over the course of years. As a successful music producer, Mikhail Peleg has contributed to the success of and written songs for a variety of widely recognized popular bands. He continues to write music in his spare time.

Helping young, motivated entrepreneurs has always been a passion of Mikhail Peleg. He has always been one to say “yes” when asked to lend a hand, and his enthusiasm and genuine interest in making the world a better place is reflected in the time he devotes to helping others.

He is a firm believer that mentorship through volunteering is one of the best ways to teach future leaders. Be they young business owners or recent graduates thinking about their first venture, showing our youth different paths to success by exposing them to real life scenarios is a powerful way to emphasize the value of hands-on experience.

Here is Mikhail Peleg’s list of tips and suggestions for successful mentoring:

1. Be a friend, not an authority figure. Remember that your role as a mentor is to guide and advise, not to dictate or impose your own opinions. Take the time to listen and understand their unique challenges and aspirations, and work with them to develop solutions that align with their goals and values.

By being a friend rather than an authority figure, you’ll create a more open and trusting relationship with your mentee, which will ultimately lead to greater success and growth for both of you.

2. Be positive. Maintain a positive outlook throughout the mentoring process, even when faced with challenges or setbacks. It’s important to remember that mentoring is a two-way street, and both you and your mentee can learn and grow from the experience.

By staying optimistic and resilient, you can inspire your mentee to adopt the same attitude and approach to their own challenges. Encourage them to embrace their mistakes and failures as opportunities for growth and learning and celebrate their successes and achievements along the way.

3. Listen Carefully. Never undervalue the value of being a good listener. Listening carefully is one of the most important aspects of effective communication, and it’s especially crucial in a mentoring relationship. As a mentor, it’s essential to listen to your mentee’s thoughts, concerns, and ideas, without interrupting or dismissing them.

Doing so will allow you to gain a deeper understanding of your mentee’s perspective and needs and provide more relevant and impactful guidance. It also helps to show your mentee that you value and respect their opinions, which can strengthen the trust and rapport between you. As a mentor, it is your job to do everything possible to keep them interested. Listening to their thoughts and ideas is a great way to earn their buy-in.

4. Set realistic goals and expectations. Determine your mentee’s needs and then work together to figure out creative ways to address those issues. Take small steps if necessary and set realistic goals. Monitor your advancement and continue pushing ahead.

If something does not work out, switch your approach or establish a new goal. Always be encouraging. The purpose of mentorship is to offer help by example in a way that offers unconditional support.

5. Have fun. Mentorship stems from relationship-building so have fun as your mentor-mentee relationship progresses. Learning can take place just about anywhere, so whether you spend time chatting in a park, go for a bicycle ride or look for books in a library, you are building trust and ensuring your relationship moves forward in a positive way.

In conclusion, successful mentoring requires a positive attitude, active listening, realistic goal setting, and a friendly demeanor. By following these tips, you can build a strong relationship with your mentee, and help them grow and achieve their goals. Remember that as a mentor, you are not there to dictate, but rather to guide and advise, and ultimately make a difference in their lives. As my conversation with Mikhail Peleg revealed, the value of mentorship is immeasurable, and the impact that you can have on a young person’s life can last a lifetime. So go forth and mentor with enthusiasm, positivity, and a willingness to learn and grow together.
