From Department Store Counter to Celebrity Beauty Authority: How Heather Spadaro Built a Trusted Name in New York Beauty

Heather Spadaro’s journey to becoming one of Suburban New York’s most recognized makeup artists started behind a department store makeup counter. Nearly two decades later, her work has appeared on major television programs, including NBC’s Today Show, E! News, Bravo-TV, and Dr. Oz. Along the way, she established herself as someone who makes clients look their best and knows which products and methods really work.

As a founder of The Makeup + Hair Co. and The Beauty Circle, Heather has dedicated her professional life to two main principles: perfect makeup artistry and client education. She believes that makeup should enhance confidence, not hide individuality.

Heather has one of the top called-upon wedding businesses in suburban NYC. Westchester Magazine crowned her and her former salon, Glo Beauty Bar, “Best of Westchester” for multiple years. She also has a long list of TV and celebrity clientele.

Makeup Services Built Around the Client

Heather understood from the very beginning that what people wanted was not only a makeup application but also advice.

She chose to be a makeup artist based on this understanding. Unlike the typical makeup artist, she has developed an individual approach in which makeup depends on skin condition, face shape, preferences, and comfort level.

At present, The Makeup + Hair Co. provides on-location makeup services in New York and the vicinity. Clients can receive beauty treatments at home, in hotels, or at other venues, as needed.

The company’s services include full-face makeup application, faux-lash application, hairstyling; all for bridal and any special-events in your life. They can accommodate large or small groups, and also have virtual beauty consultations and coaching available.

Another aspect where Heather has made a significant contribution is the skincare space; an issue that she quickly realized was quite prevalent among women. Women were purchasing products but lacked knowledge of the “why”. Through The Beauty Circle, she educates clients on the science of beauty routines customized specifically for them.

Building Trust Through Experience and Consistency

Often, success in the beauty industry comes from more than just artistry.

Clients keep coming back because of their trust in the artist behind the brush.

Throughout her career, Heather has shared her beauty secrets by appearing on television shows, writing articles for major periodicals, blogging in the industry, providing consultations to her clients, and appearing on podcasts. This has made her expertise more widely known.

Previously, Heather owned and operated Glo Beauty Bar in Mamaroneck, New York. For just under seven years, she honed her methods and developed connections within the area’s beauty industry. After closing, her shift was toward a more flexible business structure that brought services directly to clients.

“The decision in January 2020 to close a physical salon to return to an on-location and virtual model reflects a deeper, more refined discipline: the discipline of alignment,” Heather explains her decision like this. “It may take grit to stay the course, but it takes a different kind of strength to recognize when a business model is no longer serving your ultimate vision of ‘more.’ Moving toward a personalized, mobile-focus required the discipline to dismantle a successful structure to build something even more impactful.”

Heather has been working within the industry long enough to see many trends come and go, but her commitment to educating people about proper beauty techniques has stayed the same.

“Embrace the counter-to-CEO work ethic and master the fundamentals of high-pressure environments; these are the boots-on-the-ground moments where you learn to pivot under stress and deliver consistent results,” she advises. She also emphasizes to never stop being a student of the craft, moving beyond the surface, and diving into the why.

Looking Ahead in Beauty

Heather Spadaro continues to grow in the industry through her work as a makeup artist, skincare consultant, and client-focused services.

Her professional journey, from working behind the counter in a department store to becoming a renowned expert who appears on national television, is indicative of growth through experience and expertise. With her ongoing efforts through The Makeup + Hair Co. and The Beauty Circle, she continues to guide her clients on beauty and skincare choices and helps them feel more confident in themselves.
