Mahsa Babaie – From Canada to Mexico: Redefining Eco-Luxury Living Through Regenerative Design

By: Symba Marketing

When Mahsa Babaie left Canada to pursue a new chapter in Mexico, she wasn’t simply chasing the sun or the sea – she was following a calling to reshape the future of how we live, build, and coexist with the planet.

Eighteen months later, that vision has taken tangible form as MANA 88 Akumal, a regenerative eco-luxury community rising on the Riviera Maya – and it’s already making waves in the development world.

This isn’t another real estate project built for short-term profit or resort hype. It’s something radically different: a design-forward, environmentally restorative, resort-caliber community powered by green energy, infused with wellness, and guided by social impact. And at its helm, Mahsa is leading one of the most disruptive sustainable developments Mexico has seen to date.

From Canada to the Caribbean: A Journey with Purpose

Mahsa’s professional journey began in Canada, where she built a strong foundation in business, design, and leadership. But despite her success, she felt something missing – a deeper sense of meaning behind the work.

“I wanted to build things that last – not just physically, but spiritually and socially,” she recalls. “Real estate has so much power to shape human behavior and community. I wanted to create something that heals, rather than just extracts.”

That vision led her to Mexico’s Riviera Maya – a region rich in biodiversity and cultural depth, but often challenged by overdevelopment and environmental strain. There, she met her future partners Paul and Corey, who had been building in the region since 2007. The three shared an immediate synergy: a belief that development could be regenerative, not just sustainable.

In 2023, Mahsa joined as a co-owner of what is now MANA 88 Developments, leading the company through a bold rebrand and a strategic new mission – to create eco-luxury communities that regenerate ecosystems and elevate lives.

MANA 88 Akumal: Mexico’s First Regenerative Eco-Luxury Community at Scale

Today, Mahsa and her team are bringing that mission to life through MANA 88 Akumal, a master-planned, gated regenerative community nestled minutes from the turquoise waters of Akumal.

The project integrates architecture, ecology, and wellness into a seamless whole: solar-powered homes, resort-caliber amenities, organic wellness spaces, and nature corridors that allow the land to breathe and renew itself.

“Our engineers have done projects like this across the world,” Mahsa explains, “but never before in Mexico at this scale and magnitude. We’re not just adapting existing sustainability models – we’re setting a new precedent.”

This level of design and innovation is what makes MANA 88 Akumal disruptive. It’s proof that luxury doesn’t have to come at the planet’s expense – and that regeneration can be beautiful.

Disruption with Heart: Building for People and Planet

MANA 88 Akumal’s innovation isn’t only environmental – it’s humanitarian. The company has partnered with World Housing, a global non-profit dedicated to building homes for families without proper shelter.

A portion of every MANA 88 sale directly funds new homes for families in need, meaning that each luxury residence built in Akumal also creates a safe space for someone else.

“It’s about balance,” Mahsa says. “For every home we sell, we want to build one for a family who’s never had that chance. Development shouldn’t just lift profits – it should lift people.”

This “profit with purpose” model places MANA 88 Developments at the intersection of social impact, regenerative design, and conscious capitalism – a rare trifecta in modern real estate.

Designing with the Earth, Not Against It

MANA 88 Akumal’s architecture is deeply tied to its environment. The design philosophy – a collaboration between visionary engineers and architects – draws inspiration from natural geometry, airflow, and light. The homes are sculpted from sustainable materials that complement the tropical climate, blending seamlessly into the landscape.

The master plan emphasizes energy independence and circular systems: solar grids, water catchment, waste composting, and soil regeneration. Native plants will restore biodiversity while pathways connect residents to nature rather than separate them from it.

“This is more than a community – it’s an ecosystem,” Mahsa explains. “It’s where architecture, sustainability, and wellbeing meet.”

Wellness, Connection, and Conscious Living

MANA 88 Akumal is designed for residents who value health, community, and consciousness. Amenities include yoga and meditation spaces, a wellness center, organic dining, nature trails, co-working hubs, and art installations – each created to foster connection rather than isolation.

“This is about designing spaces that nurture human wellbeing,” Mahsa says. “We’re merging luxury with longevity – creating places where people can truly thrive.”

A Regenerative Future Beyond Akumal

The team plans to expand the MANA 88 brand across other regions in Mexico and beyond, adapting each development to its local ecology and culture.

The goal: to establish a global movement in regenerative luxury living – one that restores land, supports communities, and redefines modern development.

“We called it MANA because it’s a Polynesian word for life force,” Mahsa says. “It represents energy, creation, and the flow of abundance. That’s what this is – a living, breathing vision that gives back.”

From Vision to Legacy

Mahsa Babaie’s story – from Canada’s structured modernity to the untamed magic of the Riviera Maya – reflects a new kind of leadership emerging in the world of development: one guided by conscious innovation, feminine perspective, and global vision.

She’s not just building communities; she’s building models of the future – where real estate becomes a regenerative act, and luxury becomes synonymous with responsibility.

As MANA 88 Akumal continues to rise, Mahsa’s message is clear:

“We don’t just want to build beautiful places. We want to build a better world.”

From Canada to Mexico, from vision to manifestation, Mahsa Babaie is redefining what it means to create, to lead, and to live with purpose.
