Good Condition is Redefining Luxury Skincare with Sustainability

By: Emily Lawson

In a world where the beauty industry is often criticized for its environmental impact and focus on financial growth over health, Good Condition is emerging as a beacon of change. Founded by Cherie Baughn in June 2023, this innovative skincare brand is taking a stand against the conventional practices of big beauty companies by offering luxurious products that prioritize both personal well-being and environmental sustainability.

Cherie Baughn, who transitioned from a career in usability and accessibility to become the driving force behind Good Condition, was motivated by a desire to create a brand that aligns with her values of purity and ecological responsibility. “The beauty industry has a long history of putting financial growth before people and the planet,” Cherie explains. “I wanted to build something that defies that norm, providing products that are not only luxurious but also kind to our environment.”

Good Condition has made a name for itself with its line of premium lotion bars. Unlike traditional liquid lotions that often come in plastic containers and contain synthetic ingredients, Good Condition’s products are crafted from USDA-certified organic ingredients and come in biodegradable, compostable, and 100% recyclable paper holders. “We’ve eliminated plastic from our packaging to reduce waste and our ecological footprint,” Cherie highlights. “Our commitment to sustainability is evident in every aspect of our brand.”

The brand’s lotion bars cater to a variety of skincare needs, featuring formulations such as The Plain, a fragrance-free option for sensitive skin; The Luxe, made with natural, unrefined cocoa butter; The Standard, infused with plum kernel oil and coconut essential oil; and The Repair, which combines French lavender and vanilla for soothing skin care. For facial care, Good Condition offers The Day Glow, enriched with Vitamin E and squalane, and The Night Recovery, featuring natural retinol for gentle nighttime renewal.

Good Condition is not only setting new standards in product quality but also in ethical practices. The brand holds both MADE SAFE® and Leaping Bunny® certifications, ensuring that all products are free from harmful chemicals and have not been tested on animals. “We’re committed to producing skincare that is both effective and ethical,” Cherie asserts. “Our certifications reflect our dedication to safety and cruelty-free practices.”

The launch of Good Condition’s flagship store in Jacksonville, Florida, located in the historic San Marco district, marks another milestone for the brand. This space allows customers to experience the products firsthand and engage with the brand’s mission of sustainability. “Opening a physical store helps us connect more deeply with our customers,” Cherie shares. “It’s a chance for us to share our story and our commitment to sustainable beauty.”

In addition to its core product line, Good Condition offers limited-release seasonal moisturizers, such as Fresh Mango and Sweet Pea, with a portion of the proceeds supporting reef conservation efforts. This initiative underscores the brand’s broader commitment to environmental stewardship. “We believe in giving back to the environment that supports us,” Cherie notes. “Supporting conservation efforts is a natural extension of our mission.”

As consumers become more conscious of the environmental impact of their choices, Good Condition represents a shift towards a more responsible and luxurious approach to skincare. The brand’s focus on organic ingredients, sustainable packaging, and ethical practices positions it as a leader in the movement toward greener beauty products. “The future of skincare is both luxurious and sustainable,” Cherie concludes. “We’re proud to be at the forefront of this transformation.”
