Imagine a life where health, wealth, and happiness aren’t separate goals but seamlessly interconnected. That’s the vision Skyler Ditchfield, a seasoned entrepreneur and alpha health geek , proposes with his innovative approach to living “fully optimized.”
Skyler Ditchfield is not your typical entrepreneur; he is a dynamic and experienced CEO who built a business worth nine figures and acquired wireless spectrum holdings valued in the ten figures while overcoming numerous disabling, life threatening health challenges. Given a life expectancy of 32 when he was 25 years old, Skyler went on to build and exit a telecommunications business called GeoLinks, valued at nine figures, by partnering with Magic Johnson’s JLC Capital and Rock Mountain Capital. Skyler’s belief is that success goes far beyond the bottom line. Facing a myriad of “incurable diseases,” Ditchfield’s business journey paralleled his path of self-healing, making him a respected figure in biohacking, functional medicine, and overall health and fitness. At 42, Ditchfield, resembling the physical stature of an NFL player or bodybuilder with an unyielding drive for optimization—a stark contrast to the boy who grew up very poor in rural Southern California, faced bullying, and overcame numerous home-life challenges.
Ditchfield doesn’t believe in just grinding it out, while hard work and discipline are extremely
Important, so is avoiding burnout. “I believe in work sprints, 30 to 60 days maximum. I once did a 5 year sprint with my business and while I achieved a great amount, I also lost a lot. I lost my health which was the most impactful. Not only being unable to work, but also losing cherished time with my family. Endless unsustainable amounts of work is NOT the answer to success.” Ditchfield recounts. He champions working smarter, not harder, through delegation, automation, and mastering efficiency. But efficiency is just one piece of the puzzle.
Wanting to break free from all that imprisoned him, Ditchfield’s journey began at a young age, working and selling by any means necessary. He started his first company in his hometown of Ojai, California, at 19. Not long after, he received a devastating diagnosis: Crohn’s disease, a rare and debilitating condition, left him hospital-bound and just 122lbs at 6’2” when he was 25. “When the doctors told me to write my will, I wallowed for 90 seconds before adopting my ‘the rules don’t apply to me’ attitude,” Skyler said. “I set out to research my way out of this.”
Confined to hospital beds for months with a grim prognosis, Ditchfield refused to accept his fate. He embarked on a relentless pursuit of recovery, discovering multiple ways to conquer the disease. Against the “so-called odds,” it worked. This marked a turning point, not just in his health but also in his perspective on life. “I was determined to never be held back or accept what anyone else projected onto me or the world,” Ditchfield added. “I didn’t believe anything I was told anymore. I knew anything was possible. I always loved research and learning, so building my body, mind, and business to be undefeatable became my goal.”
During his three-year pursuit of recovery, he not only lost his prior business but also became nearly homeless. Regaining his confidence after saving his own life and with the upcoming arrival of a daughter, Ditchfield found a deeper purpose. “Starting from the bottom again means you have nothing to lose; it’s the most powerful place to be.” Skyler said. Over the next 14+ years, he built and scaled a nine-figure telecommunications company, where he currently serves as Executive Chairman of the Board. Beyond his professional achievements, he began to reflect on the core elements that contributed to his resilience and well-being. This introspection led him to formulate the “7 Fundamentals of Living Fully Optimized.”
The 7 Fundamentals of Living Fully Optimized
Faith
At the core of Skyler’s philosophy lies a deep-seated faith. This spiritual connection provides him with a sense of purpose, grounding, and guidance. It fuels his actions and decisions, reminding him of the bigger picture and the values that drive him forward. This faith isn’t just a passive belief but an active force that shapes his outlook and motivates him to live a life of integrity and compassion.
Family
Family, both chosen and biological, forms the bedrock of Skyler’s support system. These close relationships provide him with a sense of belonging, love, and unwavering encouragement. He recognizes the crucial role family plays in his well-being and actively nurtures these connections. Whether through shared experiences, laughter, or simply being present for one another, the family offers a vital source of strength and stability on anyone’s journey. There’s nothing Skyler wouldn’t do or give for someone he considers family.
Food
Food, for Skyler, is more than just sustenance; it’s a foundation for health and a powerful tool for healing. It’s part of his fuel. He believes in the transformative power of mindful eating, choosing foods that nourish his body and support his overall well-being. By treating food with respect and understanding its impact on his health, Skyler empowers himself to thrive from the inside out.
Fitness
Fitness naturally follows food as a pillar of holistic success. Skyler recognizes the importance of physical activity for both mental and physical well-being. He prioritizes regular exercise, whether through structured workouts or engaging in activities he enjoys. This commitment to fitness not only strengthens his body but also enhances his mental clarity, energy levels, and overall sense of well-being. Growing up being bullied and beaten up, Skyler started lifting weights at age 13. “I had a very difficult time gaining muscle and size all throughout my 20s” Skyler stated. “So, I researched and tested. I read books and articles on everything from nutrition to training styles to hormone optimization, and much more. When Crohn’s stripped away in months all the muscle that took years to build, I felt defeated.” Skyler further reflected that he eventually saw the event as a gift that empowered him to learn how to rebuild his body, but better.
Fearlessness
Fearlessness is another crucial element of Skyler’s success. He understands that true optimization requires stepping outside his comfort zone and embracing challenges. This fearlessness allows him to pursue opportunities, overcome obstacles, and continuously learn and grow. “A part of faith is to be fearless,” Skyler said. “It’s not recklessness but rather the courage to move forward despite fear, knowing that growth often lies on the other side of discomfort. I remember being very fearful as a kid—fearful of having my head beaten in at school, which happened many times, and fearful of the bigger guy who wanted to take the few dollars I had. When I developed a fearless mindset, I remember everyone became afraid of me. I wasn’t the biggest guy, but my energy could be felt by others, and that fearlessness is the key to standing out, standing up, and succeeding in the world. Fear disconnects us from ourselves and from God.”
Fulfillment
Finding fulfillment through personal passions is another key pillar. Skyler recognizes the importance of making time for activities that bring him joy and a sense of purpose. His biggest passions are family, his wife and daughter, helping others, researching all things health, working out, and fast modified cars (from new luxury to old muscle cars.) These hobbies provide him with an outlet for his nonstop motor of a mind, competitive nature, and compassion for others.
Fortune
Finally, fortune plays a role in Skyler’s holistic success. While not the sole driver, Skyler recognizes that financial stability provides the ability to do more for the world and those close to him. “I gain more to give back more. Creation is the most exciting thing we can do in life; it’s truly what we are here to do.” Skyler understands that money is a tool, not an end goal, and uses it wisely to invest in his well-being and further the reach of his influence. “I have so much to share with the world in what I’ve learned in my 42 years. I feel sometimes like I am 120 years old in wisdom but also feel 20 years old in my body.”
These seven foundations – Faith, Family, Fitness, Food, Fulfillment, Fearlessness, and Fortune – are not rigid rules but rather a framework and compass. Ditchfield emphasizes that these fundamentals are deeply integrated into his own life, but their interpretation and application will vary from person to person. The key lies in reflecting on these core concepts and incorporating them into a personalized approach. By doing so, individuals can establish a strong foundation and navigate their own path toward a life of well-being, purpose, happiness, and achievement.
These fundamentals are like spokes on a wheel – each one is crucial, but true strength lies in how they work together. Prioritizing your health fuels your drive to succeed, while a strong support system empowers you to take risks. While striving for success in your career, make time for family dinners and nurturing relationships. Prioritize healthy eating habits but allow yourself occasional indulgences. Dedication to fitness shouldn’t come at the expense of rest, recovery, family, and fun. It’s about creating a sustainable and fulfilling way of life. “I feel like the ‘jack of all trades, master of none’ line is total BS. I feel like being a 9/10 expert in many areas is vastly more powerful than being a 10/10 in one. But I also know I just have a very dynamic, multi-faceted personality, and that isn’t for everyone,” Skyler offered.
Ditchfield’s story is a testament to the power of resilience, grit, determination, and not taking no for an answer. He demonstrates a “the rules don’t apply to me” attitude and the importance of living a life fully optimized. “Don’t get me wrong, my attitude has been great for me, but it’s also had its drawbacks,” commented Skyler. “You can take the ‘rules don’t apply to me’ attitude too far. But we must push boundaries to know where to stop. This is where I can help others learn.” By embracing these seven fundamentals and finding your own unique balance, you can navigate life’s challenges and create a life of purpose, well-being, and lasting fulfillment.
