Phillicia D, better known to the internet as Heir of Glee, is wowing the cosplay world every single day. Not only is she known for her amazing big hair and luminous glowing eyes, but she also is know for using her makeup skills to create intricate looks that are very engaging, extremely unique, and just fun to look at. She also is incredibly technically smart and savvy, coding and building custom talking and moving plushies that are a hit at Cons. She came onto the digital creator scene in 2009 and she’s been gaining a loyal audience ever since.
To say that she is a pioneer in cosplay is an understatement. In a time when cosplayers were viewed as too niche and were expected to look a certain way, Glee forged her way ahead and made a path for other women, especially women of color, to thrive as well. She is unapologetically herself and she creates looks that showcase not only her talent, but also the fact that Black women are pillars of the cosplay community. She’s truly an advocate for the Black cosplay and Blerd communities.
Glee is also a pioneer in bringing the cosplay world out of a niche world. She was creating cosplay before Marvel and DC films and TV and anime series and films were popular. She made people realize that these are artforms that are truly high art, and that creating looks based on them is a skill that not many people can really master. But master it she has. She can be a fluffy anime Cinnamoroll from Hello Kitty one day, a baddie Clawdeen werewolf with her own custom mirror the next, and an ethereal Eda with her own custom King doll the next. You read that right. A custom King doll.
Glee has taken cosplay even further by making custom props and dolls. She designs them, edits them, codes them, and fully produces them all by herself. And she does this all with a day job. One begins to wonder if she is a superhuman herself who doesn’t need sleep! She produces these props and dolls and accessories with a talent that rivals fortune 500 companies, and she does it with ease. Her professionalism and wow factor mesmerize fans both on the screen and in person at events; she’s sought after by many brands for custom cosplay content and appearances. She’s what we would call an “It Girl,” because she certainly does have it!
You can follow Glee on TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, Twitter/X, Twitch, Instagram, and Facebook under her creator name heirofglee. Giving her a follow and watching her videos will more than inspire you to create your own awesome cosplay and to watch the content that inspired her as well.
