Escape Hotel, the biggest escape room venue in the world, has been wowing guests since its grand opening in the summer of 2016. Located on the famous Hollywood Boulevard, the storefront boasts nine Hollywood stars, adding to its already impressive reputation. Co-founders Ivan Leon from Colombia and Lara Herczeg from Hungary had a vision of creating an escape room experience that went beyond the standard games. And they did just that.
With 11 games under one roof, a bar, a restaurant, and a 1920’s haunted hotel theme, Escape Hotel has become a true gem in the industry. The staff, all playing the role of either a customer who never left the hotel or undead staff members, add to the theatrical experience. The venue has also partnered with major film and TV studios such as Warner, Fox, Paramount, and Sony to develop games and experiences related to popular movies and TV shows such as Tomb Raider and The Exorcist.
Celebrities flock to Escape Hotel on a regular basis, with names like Angelina Jolie, Selena Gomez, Justin Bieber, Shia LeBeouf, Machine Gun Kelly, and Megan Fox, just a few of the A-listers who have visited. The majority of customers are aged between 22 and 45, but families with kids and grandparents are not uncommon and have been known to have a great time at the venue.
Escape Hotel’s approach to the industry was disruptive, unmatched, and unheard of. The sheer size of the venue and its prime location on Hollywood Boulevard, as well as the addition of special effects, sound, and light, have made Escape Hotel a true landmark. In addition, the check-in process and the physicality of “The Hotel” add to the overall experience, and guests can enjoy dinner, drinks, and curated shows featuring dancers, singers, and magicians.
It all started back in 2013 when Ivan and Lara experienced one of the very first escape rooms in Los Angeles. They saw the potential for growth and development in the rapidly growing industry and decided to make their mark. After much planning, Escape Hotel opened its doors in 2016, and since then, they have been expanding its reach and spreading the word about escape rooms. With Escape Hotel ready to open in more cities and countries, there’s no telling just how far this escape room giant will go.
