About the Author: Ed joined the Navy after graduating high school at 17, motivated by equal patriotism and a desire to escape the farm. His Country was at war with North Korea, and he was tired of milking cows.
Following discharge and a brief stint in college, Ed joined the CIA, serving 55 years after that as a Staffer and Contractor. He was promoted to CIA’s Senior Intelligence Service in 1986. Ed spent 18+ years overseas, often in nations undergoing stress. He was sent overseas on three separate occasions after retirement. One was lengthy and related to fears of a “second-wave 9/11 attack.” An ancient philosopher once told a rival, “may you live in interesting times.”
It was meant to be a curse. Ed lived and served in interesting places at interesting times. He thought that to have been a blessing; on occasion, only in hindsight.
