Clients can request a project estimate, and HomeBuddy’s algorithm will pair them with a contractor that has availability and fits their needs. HomeBuddy’s team has vetted all contractors on the platform. “To request a quote, Homeowners should fill in all the necessary information on the service, including their location, type of repairs or renovations services, and contacts. After submitting the request, we will connect you with a great contractor who can do the job well and can give you a quote” explains the COO.
HomeBuddy’s leadership team has experienced some rocky moments along the way, especially during their launch. The Ukraine-Russia war had just begun, and close to 20 of their employees in Ukraine were affected by the war. However, they overcame this by spending countless hours and a lot of money to ensure their safety.
The industry’s biggest challenges involve contractors getting high-quality leads, i.e., people who are interested in their services and have realistic budget expectations. On the other hand, consumers also struggle to find a contractor who will provide a good experience, do the job well, as promised, in good time, clear their mess after work, do it in a way that lasts, etc., at a reasonable price.
The platform’s CEO shares the most exciting things about their industry. He stated, “Home improvement is an industry currently dominated by ancient and set-in-their-ways companies who are significantly behind the times in many respects and are primed for disruption.” He shared the most significant thing the industry might experience in the next five years is that there is a lot of opportunity to bring the latest best practices from other industries into home improvement, including digitization, automation, big data, machine learning, and many more.
HomeBuddy.com’s biggest competitors are HomeAdvisor.com, Angie.com, and Modernize.com. However, they are confident in their work and proud that contractors and consumers adore them. The CEO urges all aspiring entrepreneurs to become experts in the industry they are targeting. When asked about their plans, he answered, “We currently cover six home improvement verticals with varying degrees of geographical coverage in each one. We want to reach 15 verticals by the end of next year and cover most of the U.S.”
