Papes pulls from these experiences but chooses to take a risk, diving into the pool of entrepreneurship.

Starting your own enterprise is no small task, something that involves putting yourself out there and taking a calculated risk. Papes started this process by “identifying my strengths and how they aligned with market needs.” From there, he relied on hard work and failures to vault him to the position he is in today. Nothing came easy, especially at first, learning how to share his dream with others took time and many missteps. 

However, through it all Papes continued to build up relationships and created a strong support network. People who he could rely on to cheer him on in his successes and who he could trust to lend a hand when he fell short. During these beginning times, transitioning between running sites and running a business, he was able to formulate a plan for success.

He focused on valuing the community by offering jobs and providing high-quality products. As Naples Organic and Collier Home Repairs have continued to grow, he looks to give back to the very community that supported him. “Through Naples Organics, we are working on a mobile app that integrates health and nutrition guidance,” he says “This will hopefully aid in the health of the general public.” Beyond the app, Papes remains deeply committed to community work. He cites his work with Little Angels Worldwide which supports local charities as well as orphanages in Nigeria and his own home country of Croatia.

Never forgetting where he came from allows Papes to be authentic and understanding. With a strong value on communication and the ability to foster a workplace that is open to new ideas, he has successfully crossed the gap between project manager and CEO. Papes believes in the power of listening actively and empathizing with his employees, creating a culture of trust and collaboration within the company.

It is this ethos that has helped Ivica Papes to continued success. It is not a revolutionary business idea but rather the ability to provide sound leadership throughout all of his businesses. From his early days working in construction to now successfully running a construction company of his own, the Croatian-born CEO has found his path to success. His work meditates perseverance, channeling the complexity of the human experience—the contradictions, the exhaustion, the transformation that happens when one refuses to break. Through careful tailoring and thoughtful storytelling, this season’s collection reflects themes of resilience and growth.

Wàngda Chen understands reinvention on a personal level. At sixteen, he left his homeland and immersed himself in American culture, learning to navigate the fine line between tradition and modernity. His collections have always reflected this tension, weaving together Eastern restraint and Western dynamism. The result is an aesthetic that feels both restrained and expressive, a duality that has become a defining characteristic of his work.

For Wàngda, fashion is more than fabric and form—it reflects life’s paradoxes. “Life is a paradox where struggle and beauty, love and hate, admiration and jealousy intertwine,” he shared after the presentation. “A loved one can break your heart, and a stranger can heal your wound. Models presented deliberate weariness, hollowed expressions, and smudged makeup, capturing exhaustion’s essence. Their tailored and richly textured garments stood in stark contrast to their demeanor. The mood was enhanced by the atmospheric soundscapes of DJ David Katz, whose mixes set the tone for a striking collection. 

WÀNGDA’s approach to tailoring was evident in the collection, with structured silhouettes and sharp cuts shaping its foundation. The color palette featured earthy neutrals—taupe, camel, brown, and deep charcoal—tones reminiscent of urban textures, from concrete streets to steel skyscrapers. Subtle patterns and classic plaids added depth and visual interest.

Outerwear played a central role, with cropped wool coats and relaxed, oversized blazers offering a contemporary twist on timeless staples. Deep brown and black leather jackets introduced an edge, while rust-colored hoodies provided a nod to modern streetwear. Overcoats featured oversized lapels, epaulets, and cuffed sleeves, merging heritage craftsmanship with an urban sensibility. Even the classic button-up shirt was reinvented, with bold red-and-white stripes or narrow pinstripes in navy and black disrupting the neutral palette.

Amid the electric energy of New York Fashion Week 2025, my evening at Fushimi Times Square was nothing short of spectacular. Nestled in the heart of the city, this Japanese-Fusion hotspot seamlessly blends contemporary flavors with French culinary techniques, all within an ambiance that transports you straight to a different world.

Walking through Fushimi’s iconic torii gates, reminiscent of Japan’s Inari Shrine, set the tone for an unforgettable night. The chic, modern décor was an Instagrammer’s dream, with sleek lines, dramatic lighting, and a touch of opulence that made every moment feel exclusive. It wasn’t just dinner—it was an experience.

I had the pleasure of dining with my favorite ladies—my sister, Danise Talbot, my daughter Amanda Pressly, and her best friend, Isabella Ramos. The night kicked off with a flurry of selfies and snapshots, capturing the dazzling setting. A professional photographer even took stunning photos of Amanda and Isabella, gifting them a framed memory to take home.

The highlight of my night? The Short Rib—a dish that was simply divine. Melt-in-your-mouth tender, it was paired beautifully with charred shishito and nori-baked fingerling potatoes, creating a perfect balance of umami and texture.

The elegant garnishes, unique glassware, and meticulous attention to detail in the presentation made every cocktail feel like a small work of art. But it wasn’t just about the look—each drink offered a harmonious blend of flavors, with delicate notes that unfolded with every sip. The mixologists seemed to take as much care with their drinks as the chefs did with the dishes, ensuring that the flavors were well-balanced and each cocktail complemented the vibrant energy of the space. It was an experience that engaged all the senses, enhancing the night in ways that went beyond simply enjoying a drink.

Dia also recognizes that, though it seems unfair, acting from a place of positivity cannot guarantee positive consequences. Instead of rebelling against the innate uncertainty of life, she presents a different approach. “Simply let go of all expectations and surrender to the journey! Life isn’t linear, and as upsetting as it is, challenges will always arise,” affirms Dia. “Once again, it all comes down to how you treat them. Will you think it’s the universe playing a cruel joke, or will you take them as a valuable lesson?”

Though not every instance can—nor should it—be positive, staying grounded and acting from a place of love, even amidst turmoil, may bring you one step closer to purpose and happiness. “When you give in to spirituality, you stop knowing and start feeling. The joys of others can become your triumphs, too, but so may their suffering. When you open your heart to divinity, your eyes open to the nuanced world around you, and everything can become clearer.”

A leading optics manufacturer, HIKMICRO, will show its newest hunting equipment at JAGD & HUND Dortmund 2025. The hunting event, happening at Germany’s Messe Dortmund from January 28 to February 2, 2025, will be the perfect place for the world-leading optics brand to show two new devices: the FALCON 2.0 and CONDOR LRF 2.0 thermal monoculars. These new products follow HIKMICRO’s “Mastery Made Easy” approach and show the company’s promise to “Continually Make Crafted Confidence” for hunters.

Advancing Thermal Technology

HIKMICRO’s research team has worked on improving one-handed use over the past year, leading to many improvements in the FALCON and CONDOR models. Mr. Wang, a HIKMICRO research expert, says, “We have made big improvements in ‘Mastery Performance’ and ‘One-handed, easy operation’ features while keeping high image quality to give users the best viewing experience.”

HIKMICRO conducted careful market research to create these new products and focused on users’ needs. The product team believes that good new products should have new technology and uses to make hunting better and easier.
