Neda Hovaizi: A Beacon of Persian Resilience Embracing the Fountain of You

In a world filled with dynamic and inspiring personalities, certain individuals stand out for their unique blend of passion, resilience, and courage to break the mold.
Dr. Neda Hovaizi, a successful dentist and aesthetics expert, passionate entrepreneur, devoted mother and wife, fashionista, and proud Persian woman, is one.
Her extraordinary journey encapsulates a narrative that crosses professional boundaries, cultural borders, and personal evolution; her varied roles and experiences, contributing to her unique personal and professional identity.
Through Neda’s efforts to empower the Persian woman by debunking prevalent cultural misconceptions, and her advocacy for self-investment beyond achievement, we witness a vulnerable and powerful story of rebirth and personal evolution.

Neda was born in Massachusetts to her Iranian parents, both of whom immigrated to the United States as young adults, starting their lives here from zero. Neda was raised as a teenager in Charlottesville, Virginia and went on to graduate from the historic University of Virginia (UVA), and later, from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) in Richmond, Virginia. Neda found her calling in the field of cosmetic dentistry, where precision, patience, and compassion were prerequisites for success. As Dr. Neda Hovaizi, she returned to Massachusetts to open her dental practice, Lumiere Dental Spa, all before the age of 30. Her commitment to her patients’ experience and results set her apart, and made her a beacon of excellence, trust and reliability in the greater Boston community.

Shortly after opening her dental practice, Neda stepped into another crucial and life-altering role – Mom. Becoming a mother to two beautiful children, she found herself navigating the delicate and demanding task of balancing her career and personal life. It was a profound transformation, reshaping her identity and enriching her with the experiences that would redirect her future.

Motherhood instilled in her a greater sense of empathy and love, broadening her perspective on life and enriching her understanding of the human condition and the responsibilities bestowed on high achieving women. This expanding view also led her to reflect on her roots and cultural heritage. Being of Persian descent, Neda felt a deep connection with her culture, but she also recognized the need for its true representation in mainstream society. A multifaceted woman of strength and determination, she became a testament to the potential within every Persian, every high-achiever, every woman, and every human at that.

If balancing a dental practice and motherhood wasn’t enough, Dr. Neda Hovaizi continued to live out her entrepreneurial pursuits, founding Lumi Aesthetics MedSpa in 2014.

It was after this new venture, that she began toying with the concept of what inner and outer beauty truly is – for herself and for each individual. She began harnessing the lessons from these different facets of her life, transforming them into a source of inspiration for others.

“True beauty is the illumination of your soul™,” Neda states. “We must first turn inward to create  peace. It is through personal peace that we find illumination, and the power to ignite the fire of love in the hearts of those we are blessed to encounter. Put simply, that is true beauty… and what life is really all about.”

This courage to look inward, and discover peace, self worth, and true beauty, despite the need to “do or be more,” has formed the cornerstone of her philosophy, “Embrace the Fountain of You™.”

Losing herself while becoming so much for so many is what she would say it took to catalyze the birth of a Phoenix.

“I did it all right,” she shares. “Some would say I had it all. But, I still wasn’t happy. It wasn’t until I took myself to a place of zero, that I was able to build myself, find my peace, and start defining what happiness truly is.”

No matter what she did, Neda continued, it wasn’t enough.

“Achievement was my addiction. And, while I am proud of all I have accomplished, I now refuse to be caged by my titles: to be, or not be a certain way to fit into an accepted mold. And, I want everyone to know that they don’t have to define themselves by any external qualifier either… that they already are enough, they already are beautiful – and that by default, the entire universe of beauty, worthiness, happiness, LOVE… lives within each and every one of us, just waiting to be illuminated.”

Dr. Neda Hovaizi’s vibrant life’s tapestry, woven from her diverse experiences as a successful dentist, aesthetics expert, entrepreneur, wife, mother, and an ambassador of her rich Persian culture, have set the stage for her next mission: to walk alongside high achieving women on their journey to finding true happiness and fulfillment.

Deona Hicks: From the Streets of Philadelphia to the Spotlight of Authenticity

In the northern part of Philadelphia, in a neighborhood where stories weave through the streets like intricate patterns on a quilt, Deona Hicks was born. Her life was destined to be layered, and each layer would come to define the woman she would become.

Raised alongside her sibling Ebony Tidwell, who mothers Deona’s nephews Nahkiem and Noor and her niece Nahyirah, the family was both a source of love and complexity for Deona. The only child to her father, Deon Hicks, familial ties would challenge and shape Deona’s story in unforeseen ways.

At the age of 13, life took a turbulent turn as Deona entered the foster system. This transition saw her attending as many as eight schools, including Gideon Elementary, as she moved from one foster home to another. Despite these challenges, Deona held onto her spirit, her creativity shining like a beacon. It was perhaps her time spent after school hours with professional DJs Kinzer G and Dj Touchtone, as well as her bond with Moshe Lauren, that stoked the flames of her artistic passion. Her authenticity in this world of art and sound was unmistakable and became a hallmark of her identity.

It was during these tumultuous years that Deona gave birth to her son, Ahmad Hicks, on April 5, 2012. A moment that should have been filled with joy became one of pain when Ahmad was taken away by his father, who attempted to raise him as if he were Deona’s brother. It’s a wound she still carries.

Deona’s household was anchored by her mother, who suffered from depression and alcoholism. The shadows of these challenges were cast upon Deona’s upbringing, yet her memories of her home remain that of love and resilience. “My mother has been through so much. When I tell my story, I tell hers too,” Deona often recounts.

There’s a uniqueness to Deona. Growing up, she felt the curious gazes of others, often interpreting her originality as eccentricity. However, this never deterred her. Instead, she saw it as her superpower. “People really didn’t like me because I loved myself… I didn’t want to be like everybody else,” she reflects, believing that everyone is meant to be distinct. That distinction, she asserts, is a mark of purpose, a testament to being authentic.

It’s this unwavering faith in herself and a higher power that carried her through. “The difference between me and them was my faith, my patience, my prayer,” she says. As she weathered each storm, Deona found strength in relinquishing revenge and nurturing her spirit.

Her journey inspired a unique moniker. She recalls, “I came up with the name ‘Brownie’ years ago. Everyone kept seeing ‘Brown Sugar,’ ‘Brownie Baby,’ and anything with brownies. So I just went with ‘Brownie.’ I’m a beautiful brownie, and it is what it is.

Deona Hicks’ story is one of resilience and self-discovery. From the vibrant streets of Philadelphia to the uncertain corridors of the foster system, she remains a testament to the enduring human spirit and the power of authenticity.

Amid the challenges and triumphs that marked Deona Hicks’ journey, a new chapter began to unfold. Recognizing the raw talent and unparalleled authenticity that Deona brought to the table, Fully Focused Mgmt, a premier talent management firm, extended an offer to sign her. Under the expert guidance of her new manager, Smiley, Deona’s career was poised for an ascent.

Smiley, known in the industry circles for his keen eye for talent, specializes in nurturing up-and-coming artists. His belief in their potential and his commitment to their growth have made him a sought-after name in the world of artist management. With Deona, he saw not just an artist but a storyteller, a beacon of originality.

Their partnership marked the beginning of a symbiotic relationship, with Smiley’s industry knowledge and network complementing Deona’s innate artistry. Together, they embarked on a journey to amplify Deona’s voice, ensuring that her story and her artistry would resonate on larger platforms, touching more hearts and souls.

This collaboration with Fully Focused Mgmt and Smiley is a testament to Deona’s growth, resilience, and potential. With the right team by her side, the world is now a canvas for her unique brand of artistry.

Further solidifying this collaboration, the duo has been actively charting out strategies and projects aimed at highlighting Deona’s diverse talents. The synergy between Deona and Smiley has resulted in an outpouring of creativity, with new music, collaborations, and public appearances on the horizon.

Behind the scenes, Smiley’s vast experience and extensive network have opened doors previously unseen, allowing Deona to collaborate with established names in the industry. These opportunities are not just about enhancing her brand but also about creating a space where her voice, story, and art can flourish unhindered.

Moreover, Fully Focused Mgmt’s resources and Smiley’s mentorship are equipping Deona with tools to navigate the often turbulent waters of the entertainment industry. Workshops, branding sessions, and a holistic approach to artist development ensure that while her art remains pure and untainted, she’s also adept at handling the business side of things.

With each passing day, Deona’s narrative, imbued with her Philadelphia roots and relentless spirit, finds a wider audience. And with Smiley and Fully Focused Mgmt by her side, the trajectory is clear: upward and beyond. The world is about to witness the rise of a star who, with her unique blend of authenticity and artistry, promises to leave an indelible mark.

Jas Kalra: A philanthropist who is the beacon of Selflessness and Compassion

In this tumultuous world, the imperative for individuals to emerge as philanthropists and humanitarians cannot be overstated. The cacophony of strife and suffering echoes through every corner of our globe, leaving countless souls adrift in the maelstrom of adversity. It is incumbent upon those blessed with the means and compassion to step forth as beacons of hope. Their munificence becomes a lifeline, weaving threads of solace and salvation into the fabric of humanity. In the crucible of chaos, these altruistic souls manifest the very essence of our shared humanity, extending a benevolent hand to elevate the destitute and heal the wounded, illuminating a path towards a more compassionate and harmonious world.

In a world increasingly marked by selfishness and the pursuit of personal gain, there are individuals who stand as shining examples of selflessness and compassion. Jas Kalra, a 23-year-old philanthropist, is one such remarkable individual whose unwavering dedication to humanity has left an indelible mark on society.

The Earth Saviours Foundation:- A Sanctuary of Hope

At the helm of The Earth Saviours Foundation (T.E.S.F.), a renowned N.G.O. founded by the Late Ravi Kalra, Jas Kalra has taken on the role of the youngest non-priest and the incumbent President. Established in 2008, T.E.S.F. has garnered international acclaim for its mission to combat social ills, provide sanctuary to mistreated animals, and champion environmental protection.

The heart of T.E.S.F. beats with the tireless efforts of a selfless and committed team of volunteers, working relentlessly to uplift the underprivileged in society. Their shelters in Bandhwari Village and Mandawar Village, Gurugram, have become sanctuaries for abandoned senior citizens, mentally disabled individuals, abused women, burn victims, survivors of domestic violence, and those afflicted by incurable diseases.

T.E.S.F.:- A Haven of Compassion

These shelter homes offer a lifeline to those in dire need, providing essential services such as accommodation, counseling, food, medical care, and daily necessities, all free of charge. The ultimate goal is not just to provide temporary refuge but to rehabilitate residents and reunite them with their families whenever possible.

Currently, T.E.S.F. operates through two shelters, each serving as a beacon of hope. The Bandhwari Gurukul, spanning nearly 2 acres, encompasses an old-age home, a medical center, a home for deprived women, an animal shelter, and a center for the differently-abled. It’s a diverse community where senior citizens, mentally disabled individuals, and bedridden citizens coexist with numerous animals, creating a nurturing atmosphere.

The Legacy that Ignited His Compassion

Jas Kalra’s unwavering dedication to humanitarian causes can be traced back to the profound influence of his father, Karmayogi Sh. Ravi Kalra Ji. His father’s tireless efforts and unwavering commitment to selfless service left an indelible mark on Jas, instilling in him a deep sense of purpose and compassion. From a young age, Jas witnessed the transformative power of empathy and the fulfillment that comes from extending a helping hand to those in need. He was never swayed by the allure of materialistic happiness; instead, he was driven by the desire to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the less fortunate. This emotional connection to his father’s legacy became the driving force behind Jas Kalra’s decision to carry forward the torch of compassion and continue the noble work of The Earth Saviours Foundation.

The Earth Saviours Foundation:- Pillar of Hope

The Earth Saviours Foundation goes above and beyond by providing the last rites for unidentified bodies, a service that demonstrates their unwavering commitment to human dignity.

The legacy of T.E.S.F., instilled by its founder, Ravi Kalra, extends beyond shelter and care. It encompasses values of women’s empowerment, environmental conservation, respect for the elderly, and the inclusion of the mentally and physically disabled as equal members of society. The foundation’s efforts have transformed countless lives, offering solace to both families and animals in their journey toward rebuilding.

The Shining Future

Currently, T.E.S.F. boasts 100-150 dedicated volunteers who work tirelessly around the clock to serve over 950 individuals. Under the guidance of Jas Kalra’s father, Karmayogi Sh. Ravi Kalra Ji, the ashram, has been a source of immeasurable joy since its inception in 2008.

Looking ahead, T.E.S.F.’s Bandhwari Sewa Dham branch and Mandawar Sewa Dham are poised to shelter over 1,000 people, with plans to expand Mandawar’s capacity to accommodate 5,000 individuals.

Wide Recognition and Honor

Jas Kalra’s unwavering dedication and selfless service have not gone unnoticed. He was honored and felicitated by the Chief Minister of Haryana for his exceptional contributions to humanity. His remarkable achievement of cremating more than 2,000 unclaimed and unidentified bodies in just 2.5 years stands as a testament to his compassion and commitment.

Why The Urgent Need for More Jas Kalras

In a world engulfed in storms of discord and indifference, the urgency for more individuals to emulate the altruistic spirit of Jas Kalra cannot be overstated. Jas Kalra stands as a paragon of selflessness, offering a beacon of hope amidst the prevailing darkness. His actions underscore the profound impact a single individual can have on the collective consciousness, igniting a vital call for others to follow suit. In a time where the world hungers for compassion, his example serves as a clarion call for humanity to recognize the dire necessity of cultivating empathy, service, and the unwavering commitment to uplift the vulnerable and heal society’s wounds. Jas Kalra is not just a hero; he is a guiding star, urging us all to become the change we wish to see in the world, to illuminate the path toward a more compassionate and harmonious future.

Jas Kalra, a young man with an old soul, continues to inspire us all to reach out and make a positive impact on the world around us.

Say Goodbye to Aging Body Odor with the Power of Mirai Clinical’s Persimmon Soap

As the leaves begin to change and the air turns crisp, the season of persimmons comes,  gracing tables and markets from September to November. But for some, the arrival of persimmon season signifies more than just a delicious treat. For those suffering from body care concerns, like body odor, these vibrant orange fruits herald a season of freshness and renewed confidence, pioneered by natural skin aging products from Mirai Clinical.

Mirai Clinical is a female-founded, minority-owned business committed to natural and safe body care solutions using Japanese persimmons. Founded by beauty expert Koko Hayashi, Mirai Clinical emphasizes all-natural ingredients that offer a refreshing alternative for consumers increasingly wary of chemical-laden products.

Addressing the Challenges of Aging Skin

Aging, while a natural process, brings with it a myriad of skin concerns. From wrinkles to age spots and, more subtly, the onset of nonenal–a specific body odor associated with aging. According to Hayashi, at age 40, as the skin’s antioxidant defenses begin to weaken, many start to experience the onset of nonenal.

Unlike other body odors, nonenal is particularly stubborn. It’s an odor that emerges not necessarily from poor hygiene but from age-related changes in the body. In Japan, where the phenomenon is better understood, it’s called “kareishu” or the “old people’s smell.” This odor often lingers in confined spaces, such as nursing homes, making it a challenge many face in silence.

“Most people believe body odor comes from a lack of hygiene,” says Hayashi. “But with nonenal, it’s more about the body’s natural aging process. And because it’s oil-based, it’s not easily washed away with conventional soaps.”

Many soaps fail to address these concerns, challenging many to search for solutions that are both effective and kind to their skin. However, the long wait is over as Mirai Clinical, with a passion for natural beauty and a keen eye for innovation, harnesses the power of Japanese persimmons to pioneer solutions to treat nonenal and facilitate cleaner, fresher underarm conditions.

Mirai Clinical’s Persimmon-Infused Arsenal

Mirai Clincal’s product range, infused with the goodness of persimmons, addresses a spectrum of skin concerns that come with aging.

  • Deodorizing Soap with Persimmon: A staple in their product line, this soap not only cleanses but also targets and eliminates nonenal, leaving the skin feeling refreshed and revitalized.
  • Purifying & Deodorizing Body Wash with Persimmon: A luxurious body wash that combines soap’s cleansing properties with a body wash’s hydrating benefits. Infused with persimmon, it ensures that the skin remains free of nonenal and feels soft and supple.
  • Purifying & Deodorizing Pre-Soak Laundry Detergent Persimmon: Mirai Clinical understands that skincare doesn’t stop at the bathroom door. This innovative laundry detergent, enriched with persimmon extract, ensures that your clothes are free from nonenal, complementing the effects of their skincare range.

Hayashi adds, “Our advisory doctor carefully tested this line of persimmon-based beauty products to ensure we target all aging concerns effectively.”

A Commitment to Excellence

Mirai Clinical’s dedication to excellence is evident in its operations. The brand follows rigorous guidelines for selecting, sourcing, and processing product ingredients. Their persimmon extract is sourced exclusively from Japanese farms, carefully and meticulously harvested during fall seasons to maintain freshness when brought to their American facilities for processing and formulation.

“In addition to their purity and safety, our ingredients are chosen to effectively boost your skin’s natural abilities to hydrate, nourish, and defend for long-term skin beauty and health,” says Hayashi.

This commitment ensures that every product that bears the Mirai Clinical’s name is a testament to quality and effectiveness.

Aging with Confidence

With goals set on AARP and a 5-star online rating, Mirai Clinical looks forward to even greater success, adding success stories to their 100,000 satisfied clientele. As the only brand in the USA offering a clinically proven solution to nonenal, its trajectory is clear. But it’s not just about the numbers. It’s about the impact. “We want to change the narrative around aging,” Hayashi muses. “Aging is a privilege, and it can be a beautiful journey with the right care.”

While the debate around persimmon extract’s efficacy continues, Mirai Clinical continues their mission to redefine beauty, challenge conventions, and celebrate the natural aging process. And if their success so far is any indication, the future looks bright, not just for Mirai Clinical but for everyone who believes in the power of nature.

“Beauty is not about looking young,” Hayashi reflects. “It’s about feeling confident at any age. And with the help of Japanese persimmons, we at Mirai Clinical are making that dream a reality for thousands.”

Dress for Success: The Game-Changing Role of Fashion in Your Entrepreneurial Journey with Lance Dion

In today’s dynamic world of entrepreneurship, building a brand is an art. It’s not just about the products or services you offer; it’s about the image and impression you create. A brand expert, Lance Dion, who understands the power of personal branding, knows that dressing for success is a powerful statement. While some might draw inspiration from tech giants like Mark Zuckerberg, whose simple white T-shirt and jeans uniform has become legendary, Lance Dion believes that crafting a brand and an image that’s uniquely your own requires a deeper understanding of the importance of fashion.

“Your appearance is everything,” Lance emphasizes. “When people first encounter your brand, more often than not, the first thing they see is you. That initial impression can make or break opportunities.” With that in mind, let’s dive into Lance Dion’s invaluable advice on how to dress for a successful entrepreneurial journey.

  1. Understand Your Brand’s Identity:

Your attire should align with the identity of your brand. Before deciding what to wear, take a moment to understand what your brand stands for. What values and messages are you trying to convey? Who is your target audience? Whether you’re projecting professionalism, creativity, innovation, or approachability, your clothing should echo these brand values.

  1. Dress for the Occasion:

Entrepreneurship entails a variety of occasions – from crucial investor meetings and client presentations to networking events and casual meet-ups. Dressing appropriately for each situation is paramount. A well-tailored suit might be perfect for a pitch to potential investors, but a more relaxed and stylish outfit could be ideal for creative brainstorming sessions with your team.

  1. Invest in Quality Wardrobe Staples:

While fashion trends come and go, certain wardrobe staples endure. Investing in high-quality essentials like a well-fitted blazer, versatile pants, and classic footwear is a wise decision. These items serve as the foundation for your wardrobe and can be mixed and matched to create a range of polished looks.

  1. Showcase Your Individuality:

Entrepreneurship thrives on innovation and individuality. Don’t be afraid to inject your personality into your style. Unique accessories, statement pieces, or a signature look can help you stand out in a crowd and make a lasting impression. Remember, being memorable can set you apart in the competitive world of entrepreneurship.

  1. Evolve and Adapt:

As your entrepreneurial journey progresses, your brand’s identity and needs may evolve. Stay adaptable and open to change in your fashion choices. Reevaluate your wardrobe periodically to ensure it aligns with your current brand image and goals. Fashion is a dynamic realm, and your style should evolve with your brand’s story.

Lance Dion’s insight reminds us that dressing for success in the entrepreneurial world is more than just following a template; it’s about crafting a visual narrative that complements your brand’s story and values. By understanding your brand, dressing appropriately for various occasions, investing in quality staples, showcasing your uniqueness, and being adaptable, you can use fashion as a powerful tool to enhance your entrepreneurial journey and make a memorable impression on the world.

So, as you embark on your entrepreneurial adventure, remember Lance Dion’s wisdom – your attire isn’t just clothing; it’s an integral part of your brand’s identity and your path to a successful future.

In a world where first impressions are critical, your fashion choices are a canvas upon which you can paint the image of your brand. Your attire is your statement to the world about who you are and what you stand for. It’s the visual representation of your personal brand.

The importance of fashion in the entrepreneurial journey cannot be understated. It goes beyond just looking good; it’s about making a statement, projecting confidence, and creating a lasting impression. And nobody understands this better than Lance Dion, a seasoned entrepreneur who has successfully navigated the worlds of business and fashion.

As Lance puts it, “Your appearance is everything. When people don’t know you personally, the first thing they see is you. That initial impression can open doors or close them.”

Here are five tips from Lance Dion on how to use fashion to your advantage as you embark on your entrepreneurial journey:

  1. Dress for Success:

Dressing well isn’t just about looking good; it’s about feeling confident and projecting that confidence to others. When you dress for success, you’re more likely to feel like a successful entrepreneur, and that confidence can be contagious, influencing how others perceive you and your brand.

  1. Make a Statement:

Your fashion choices can be a powerful tool for making a statement about your brand. Whether you choose bold colors, unique accessories, or a distinctive personal style, use fashion to set yourself apart and create a memorable brand image.

  1. Dress for the Occasion:

Different situations call for different attire. When you’re meeting with potential investors or pitching your business to clients, a sharp, professional look is essential. On the other hand, when you’re brainstorming with your team or attending a networking event, a more relaxed and approachable style may be more appropriate.

  1. Invest in Quality:

Quality matters in both business and fashion. Invest in well-made, timeless pieces that will last. Not only will they save you money in the long run, but they’ll also ensure you always look polished and put-together.

  1. Be Authentic:

Your fashion choices should reflect your authentic self and your brand’s values. Don’t try to be someone you’re not. Instead, use fashion to amplify your unique personality and convey your brand’s message authentically.

In conclusion, fashion is a powerful tool in the arsenal of any entrepreneur. It’s not about conforming to a specific style or emulating someone else’s look; it’s about using fashion to express your individuality, project confidence, and create a brand image that resonates with your target audience.

As you embrace your entrepreneurial journey, remember Lance Dion’s advice: “Your appearance is your first impression, and in the world of business, first impressions matter. Use fashion to your advantage, and let it be an authentic expression of your brand and your journey.”

Podcast Technology Cracks the Code on the Mental Health Crisis by Connecting the Human Voice with Those Who Need it

The US Surgeon General has declared mental health a “public health crisis.” The sense of loneliness felt by a reported 58% of Americans is apparently worsened by the increased use of television and social media, which has created a false sense of connection and belonging. Americans spend an average of more than 3 hours a day on social media, and Gen Z (18-25-year-olds) are some of the most avid users. Around one in four people from Gen Z report experiencing mental illness, and 73% report feelings of loneliness, up from 69% a year ago.

Studies have shown that hearing the human voice has a profound effect on a listener’s mood, which is why many people used to listen to the radio. While radio still exists today, podcasts are the next step in the spoken word medium. In a world where there are multiple digital channels to consume content across multiple devices, the opportunity for an on-demand digital medium like podcasts to explode in the mainstream and also participate in the larger $244B digital ad revenue pie is tremendous. However, the short-form “get to the quick” desire of digital consumers does not align with the long format, and poor search mechanisms currently prevent podcasts from that growth.

Like their parents and grandparents with radio, Gen Z is the main podcast listener demographic in the US, with 29 million of the 69 million Gen Zs in the US listening to podcasts. Most of them (21 million) say they listen to podcasts to improve their mood and help them feel less alone. According to a report by Spotify, podcasts serve as a “safe space” for them to process their feelings.

Allowing for a reprieve from the toxicity and comparison of social media, podcasts are helping listeners understand themselves better through conversational explorations of particular subjects by relatable hosts. They also evoke feelings of friendship and familiarity, which helps ease the loneliness they experience. “Podcasts are a vast untapped ocean of content that I have heard likened to a library full of plastic-wrapped books that can’t be read,” says Sherry Mills, Multimedia Artist, Co-Founder and CEO of digital audio AI startup Tree Goat Media. While the potential of podcasts is huge, as an easy-to-digest and produce medium that covers a huge range of subject matters, they often struggle with listener awareness and access.

The growing social role of podcasts shows how huge of a market there is for this medium. Podcasts have the power to connect people with the subjects they are passionate about in a manner that supports shared human connection. According to Tree Goat Media, there has been a huge jump in the number of podcasts in just a year. In 2022, there were 5 million podcast shows and 70 million episodes, up by 110% from the previous year. There are 464 million listeners worldwide, with 116 million in the US, and the global figure is expected to reach 500 million by 2025.

Despite the excellent growth potential, there is a problem regarding podcast accessibility. Data shows that 35% of people who don’t listen to podcasts, despite being aware of them, say that they don’t know how to locate a podcast.

Tree Goat Media says that on the listener side, major search engines and podcast players offer limited search capabilities, leaving 54 million hours of content nearly impossible to discover. Highly active listeners, mostly from the Gen Z age group, prefer consuming focused, short-form content, with 40% even turning to TikTok instead of Google for basic search, and there is currently no distribution channel to support these highly active listeners’ preferred method of consumption.

Podcasters, on the other hand, are struggling to find engaged listeners, with 99% of podcasts averaging fewer than 5,000 listens per episode. There is also a very high failure rate, with 80% of podcasts not making it past the first year, something known as “podfading”. Tree Goat Media has observed that there is no distribution channel, nor even any AI-backed tool, that helps podcasters grow their engagement levels without relying on their manual efforts.

To bridge this huge gap in the industry, Tree Goat Media created Marbyl, which is the world’s first short-form search engine for podcast content. Using its proprietary Viral IntelligenceTM machine learning technology, it scans podcasts to identify and capture moments carrying high-interest levels or peak viral potential. These moments, called Marbyls, last between 15 and 90 seconds on average, and 5 of the most interesting Marbyls per episode are automatically created and made available on the Marbyl App.

Listeners are able to search for topics and get presented with stored Marbyls that match their queries with a high degree of relevance. Marbyls are shareable from the platform to all major social media sites and include direct links back into full episodes, right where the Marbyls were pulled from, to increase the likelihood of subscriber conversion, something most podcasters struggle with and that most clip generators do not solve for. Both listeners and podcasters can also create their own Marbyls from any podcast episode, resulting in more searchable and shareable moments.

Tree Goat Media was founded by Michael Kakoyiannis, a serial entrepreneur and veteran of the radio and broadcasting industry, and Sherry Mills, a multimedia artist-turned-podcaster. The startup creatively applies machine learning to unleash the potential of long-form audio content by making it searchable and more accessible, as well as solving problems related to monetization.

“We recognize the positive impact of podcasts on the mental health of listeners, helping address the crisis of loneliness affecting so many people today,” Mills says. “However, we’ve noticed that major search engines like Google have tabs for text and video but not for audio. Despite podcasting being one of the fastest-growing forms of media today, particularly among younger listeners, millions of hours of emotionally supportive content are unsearchable and inaccessible to people. Through Marbyl, we have become a first mover in bridging the two sides of the market, solving podcaster and listener challenges by matching currently undiscoverable content with the listeners who want – or need – to hear it.”

Explore the incredible life and journey of Melissa Hurtado, Founder & CEO of Just Bonafide Media, as she shares her story of self-discovery, empowerment, and entrepreneurship. From her childhood dream of becoming a professional swimmer to her transformative experiences growing up in both New York City and Ecuador, Melissa’s life story is a testament to resilience and adaptability. Explore her diverse range of early jobs, from stocking shelves to working in hospitality, that paved the way for her eventual role as an entrepreneur. Melissa’s journey is a testament to the power of hard work, determination, and unwavering belief in one’s dreams.

What did you want to be when you grew up?

As a child, my dream was to become a professional swimmer. There was something truly liberating about the sensation of being in the water, suspended without contact with anything else. The absence of gravity’s constraints made me feel like I was soaring, almost as if I were in outer space. For me, swimming was a source of profound peace and serenity. The act of holding my breath underwater, enveloped in silence, always had a cathartic effect on me.

While I didn’t ultimately pursue a career as a professional swimmer, I owe a great deal to my coach. He instilled in me the values of mental toughness, a strong work ethic, the relentless pursuit of excellence, and the importance of seeing things through to the end. These lessons have left an indelible mark on my character and continue to guide me in my journey today.

A big part of what I do as a CEO and leader of the organization is taking my employees’ individual talents and coaching them to success. As a leader, I’ve been able to coach my team to complete objectives by leading by example and instilling in them much the same lessons that my swim coach taught me in my youth.

Your business involves helping others grow their business, have you always liked helping others?

I believe I’ve always had a natural inclination for it, although I don’t necessarily view it as “helping.” To me, it’s a matter of making myself useful when I’m a part of someone’s journey. I often see myself as an additional set of hands, ready to contribute and support wherever needed.

You mentioned being born in New York City but primarily raised in Ecuador. Could you elaborate on how this unique background has influenced the businesswoman you’ve become today?

From an early age, I experienced the best of both worlds. My parents’ dedication to providing me with a top-quality education in Ecuador shaped my academic foundation. Growing up in a close-knit academic community allowed me to form strong bonds with peers, creating a sense of fraternity that always made me feel part of something larger.

My parents’ role as international entrepreneurs meant frequent travel, and my school experience offered a semblance of stability amid their frequent journeys. This exposure allowed me to embrace diverse family backgrounds and dynamics as I spent considerable time with other families throughout my upbringing. I’ve always considered my friends’ homes as my “second homes,” which fostered an appreciation for diversity in people, their philosophies, and life perspectives.

The ability to adapt, an open-minded approach, and a genuine understanding of others are some of the most significant lessons I gained from my childhood experiences, all of which continue to influence my business endeavors today.

In my industry, I deal with diverse groups, backgrounds, and unique company missions. Because of my own personal history, I’m able to relate and see eye-to-eye with just about anyone, which has proven to be useful in helping expedite the growth of my clients’ businesses.

When we spoke earlier, you mentioned that there were challenges with your family growing up, and you spent a large part of your childhood being very independent, so to speak. Would you be willing to share some of those details?

Certainly, growing up, my family faced its share of challenges. My father battled with alcohol addiction, and my parents had me and my sister at a very young age. They had to navigate the typical hurdles of marriage, raising children, immigrating to a new country, and trying to make ends meet—all while still maturing themselves. Picture two 20-year-old immigrants with two young girls striving to survive while pursuing entrepreneurial endeavors. With these factors in play, growing up was never easy. As time went on, we eventually moved back to Ecuador. However, my father continued to grapple with substance abuse, which eventually led to my parents’ divorce. They separated for a few years, but fortunately, my father was able to overcome his challenges, and things began to improve.

It’s worth noting that I don’t recall my parents ever working for someone else. Growing up in a business-oriented family, it’s intriguing to me that I didn’t venture into entrepreneurship myself until the age of 32.

During my childhood, my parents were often absent, and I would only see them about twice a month. However, their hard work and sacrifices ensured that I never lacked anything. I had the privilege of attending top-notch schools and enjoyed the comfort of having a nanny to care for me. This unique dynamic instilled in me a sense of emotional independence from a young age. I matured early, learned how to be self-reliant and developed a strong sense of self-sufficiency. I came to understand that love, rather than being purely emotional, could also be logical. My upbringing allowed me to love myself in a logical and rational manner. It taught me to trust my instincts and enabled me to stand tall without feeling the need to run to my parents every time I faced a challenge. Simultaneously, I learned to appreciate the value of quality time spent with them when they were present.

When my parents were away, they accomplished remarkable achievements that always inspired me and fueled my imagination regarding the possibilities in life. Notably, my mother played a pivotal role in their success as well. She is a natural-born businesswoman known for her exceptional negotiation skills, charisma, humility, and incredible strength. She expertly supported my father’s endeavors while fulfilling the role of a loving mother to two young girls. With a nursing major to her name, she brought both her medical knowledge and business acumen to their ventures.

For example, during their time in New York City, my parents embarked on various business endeavors. They both contributed significantly, with my father serving as the photographer and character designer for a newspaper called ‘Asi Es Ecuador.’ Furthermore, they were involved in the cinematography for a TV channel. My dad’s talent as a photographer led him to capture iconic Latin artists at the Premios ACE, including Celia Cruz, Marc Anthony, Tito Fuentes, Cristian Castro, and many others. Beyond photography, my father was also a gifted artist known for creating stunning murals for restaurants and other businesses.

My early life instilled in me a sense of personal accountability. I never indulged in self-pity or made excuses for my failures because I understood that when things went wrong, it was my responsibility to address them. Despite the unconventional nature of my upbringing, I never felt deprived of love, as I learned that love didn’t necessarily require constant physical presence to be deeply meaningful.

It took you until the age of 32 to become an entrepreneur, what were you doing before?

That’s a great question. The real question is, what didn’t I do? I took on a wide range of roles, from graveyard shifts stocking shelves and working in private security to being a barback, bartender, sales associate, coat check attendant, cocktail waitress, restaurant server, housekeeper, dishwasher, pool attendant, membership coordinator, room service server, juicer, barista, banquet server, event coordinator and so much more.

This conglomeration of experiences would prove to be beneficial, as the skills I acquired over the years would become useful to what I do today. It has taught me the importance of being versatile and adaptable, wearing many hats, and having a wide range of business experience at my disposal.

The variety of jobs taught me a lot about myself. My background prepared me well for entrepreneurship, and I’ve discovered that I possess a multitude of talents that people truly appreciate. For instance, my strong work ethic at the Four Seasons and the Grove Isle gave me the opportunity to work in various jobs while building lasting friendships and valuable relationships with like-minded individuals who understand the significance of pursuing excellence in every aspect of life.

Sounds like you earned everything that you have and basically gained knowledge and experience from the ground up.

Yes, you can say that. Nothing was handed to me; I had to work hard and overcome various challenges to be where I am today. My journey has been a testament to the idea that in America, nothing comes for free. However, when you work hard and believe in your dreams, you can make anything possible. For anyone reading this, I hope my experiences serve as a reminder that with dedication and determination, you can achieve your goals and turn your dreams into reality.

In the end, Melissa’s odyssey is a compelling example of how embracing life’s challenges can lead to profound personal and professional growth. Her story inspires us all to strive for greatness, regardless of our starting point. As we take a page from Melissa’s book, may we find the courage to embark on our own journeys fueled by passion, determination, and an unwavering belief in the limitless potential that lies within each of us.

Decheng Cui Solo Exhibition “Metaphysical Series” Invited to Participate in the 23rd Beijing Art Expo

Artist Cui Decheng was invited to participate in the 23rd Beijing Art Expo. This art expo is organised by the Beijing International Art Expo Foundation and the Beijing Cultural and Creative Industry Development Service Company, hosted by the Beijing Art Expo Chang’e International Convention and Exhibition Center, and co-organized by the Beijing Cultural and Creative Academy, Beijing Shiqi Art Foundation, Beijing Fashion Classic Art Exchange Center, and the Capital Financial Service Chamber. It grandly opened on September 7, 2023, at the Beijing Exhibition Hall. This event is an important art exchange activity of the 11th Beijing Cultural Consumption Season hosted by the Beijing State-owned Cultural Assets Management Center, with the theme of “Leading the Future.” It integrates representative contemporary art forms and invites nearly 120 galleries and art institutions from different countries and regions. Over 5,000 artworks are organised in the exhibition hall, providing a high-quality academic atmosphere for participating artists, scholars, gallery managers, and collectors to engage in discussions, explore the transformation of contemporary art forms, and the diversity presented by artistic language, enriching the extraordinary charm of contemporary art.

Cui Decheng (b. 1990) earned his Master’s degree in Painting from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago in 2020 and currently resides in Los Angeles. He is an active conceptual artist and gallery owner. In 2022, he founded 4C Gallery in Los Angeles Angeles to promote the development of Chinese art, aiming to provide a platform for Chinese-speaking artists and audiences amidst the cultural fusion of China and the United States. His personal work is influenced by multiculturalism and is presented through various media and forms, including traditional painting, sculpture, as well as new media installations and video art. As an emerging conceptual artist, he has a strong interest in metaphysical themes, often exploring the essence of human thought, perception, and experience. His works have been exhibited in China, the United States, Europe, South Korea, and other countries/regions and have been collected by institutions such as the FLAXMAN Library, the Contemporary Art Collection Committee of the China Collectors Association, and CICA Museum. His work has also received the “Leonardo da Vinci International Award” and was selected for the Stars program.

The artworks on display in this expo constitute a segment of Cui’s acclaimed “Metaphysical Tetralogy” series, comprising four distinct sections. The initial intention of this series is to portray the various possibilities of human perception of the world, aiming to explore the intricate relationship between sensuality and rationality. In the artist’s view, sensuality is the starting point of cognition, and rationality is its guide; they are interdependent and inseparable. At the same time, in the process of creation, he abandons the constraints of a single artistic language, integrating traditional oil painting, digital animation, printmaking, installation art, and sound art to create his overall artistic identity.

This exhibition presents the first two chapters of the Metaphysical series, including representative works such as “Heart line_1,” “OM_Cube Group,” “Cityscape_Skyline,” and “Spaces.” In these works, the artist represents a set of opposing contradictions and uses mathematical equations to determine the shapes, colors, and positions of points in the artwork, avoiding the pitfalls of emotional subjectivity. In his view, looking at things from an opposing perspective is incomplete, biased, and even antisocial. He hopes to present an inclusive worldview through his calm, regulated, and orderly works.

His artworks are presented in the form of mixed-media sculptures, consisting of countless digital printed blocks distinguished and juxtaposed by different colours, creating a dual effect: one that differs greatly when viewed up close and digitally stitched. His sculptures incorporate both formal symmetry and Irregularity in colour application. In “Heart line_1” and “Kidney line,” the surfaces are covered with thousands of points, rotated in polygons, creating overlays and gradients of a single colour, creating dynamic collisions between lines and corners. Cui Decheng transforms the reverence of ancient Chinese artists for nature into a reverence for science, mathematics, and logic, which aligns with our technological era and brings a refreshing perspective to our current art world atmosphere.

“Cityscape_Skyline” combines oil painting and digital painting to create artificial urban landscapes and non-artificial natural landscapes. He represents all artificial objects using standard rectangles, densely crowded together. He then uses organic oil brushstrokes to depict natural oceans and skies. The works are filled with contrasts, such as congestion and tranquillity, artificial and organic, controllable and uncontrollable, vibrant colours and monochrome, and more. “Spaces” presents a diverse space with contradictions yet rationality. From this, we can see that Cui Decheng emphasises reason over emotion, reason over individual or group identity. He desires to “understand and apply the universal laws of nature” and wrote, “Through reason, people have created the most powerful belief in human history, science. The core of this series of works is …faith in science.”

Notably, Professor Yi Ying, a venerable figure at the Central Academy of Fine Arts who serves as a doctoral supervisor, distinguished critic, and theoretical research scholar once pointed out in “Regarding Aversion to Sensuality – A Discussion on Cui Decheng’s Art”: We understand Cui Decheng’s art in this way: he constructs a grid of images based on rational rules, which does not constitute an aesthetic object in itself because it is a product of calculation and design. However, it still adopts aesthetic camouflage, with the density and variation of the grid, the blending and contrast of colours, especially the irregular outlines, seemingly implying formalism. However, there should be a deeper meaning, symbolic and metaphorical. The setting of the image in rational and technical terms is inseparable from the unfolding of the creativity of life itself. Life is not static; it depends on the impulse and creation of life. The impulse is the development of life, and development inevitably involves resistance; creation is the rebirth of life, and life gains new meaning after breaking through resistance.

In conclusion, this refined narrative offers an in-depth exploration of Cui Decheng’s remarkable journey as an artist and his pivotal role in the 23rd Beijing Art Expo. By weaving together elements of creativity, mathematics, and rationality, Cui invites us into a realm where art becomes a profound exploration of the human experience, challenging conventions and beckoning us to see the world through a new lens. Through his Metaphysical Tetralogy, Cui Decheng not only showcases the convergence of sensuality and rationality but also offers a profound meditation on the enduring synergy between art and science, a theme that resonates profoundly in.

Shadin Hossain and Galleria on Third: A Tale of Art, Charity, and New York Resilience

In the heart of New York City, where creativity knows no bounds, there exists a place that not only showcases artistic masterpieces but also embodies the spirit of compassion and community. This place is none other than Galleria on Third, a framing shop that has been a cornerstone of the city’s art scene for over two decades. At the helm of this remarkable establishment stands Shadin Hossain, a man whose journey from Bangladesh to the bustling streets of New York City is a testament to the American dream. Today, we delve into the captivating story of Shadin Hossain and the Galleria on Third, a story that intertwines art, charity, and the indomitable spirit of the city he loves.

Over 25 years ago, a young Shadin Hossain arrived in the United States from Bangladesh with dreams in his eyes and determination in his heart. Art had always been a passion for him in his homeland, but the hustle and bustle of New York City left him with little time to pursue his craft. However, his love for art would ultimately play a pivotal role in his journey to success.

Shadin began his career in the framing industry, where he quickly distinguished himself through his commitment to quality work and exceptional customer service. His dedication paid off, and he soon became the owner of Galleria on Third, a framing shop that would become one of the most respected in the city.

At Galleria on Third, Shadin Hossain’s ethos is clear—putting people first and delivering the highest quality at reasonable prices. This commitment has earned him an impressive array of positive Google reviews, a testament to the trust and respect he has garnered from his customers over the years.

But Shadin’s journey is about more than just business success. It is about giving back to the community that has embraced him—a community that is synonymous with resilience, New York City. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, Shadin used his art as a force for good, launching the “New York Tough” campaign to aid those in need. It is this unwavering spirit of generosity that defines him.

Galleria on Third is not just a framing shop; it is a hub of artistic expression and philanthropy. Shadin Hossain initiated the Galleria on Third Benefit Art Shows over a decade ago, with a mission to raise money and awareness for various charitable causes. These shows have supported organizations like World Vision, Smile Train, Bellevue Hospital, and the Clean Water Initiative, among others.

Shadin’s dedication to these charitable endeavors has not gone unnoticed. He was named NY1’s NYer of the Week and featured in the New York Daily News for his selfless contributions to the city. Through his art and the art he showcases in his gallery, Shadin has made a profound impact on the lives of many, exemplifying the power of art to inspire positive change.

As a sign of the time, after 20 years as a staple of Murray Hill, Galleria on Third, is moving a few blocks north to 48 and 2nd Avenue; and is excited to be a proud member of the Turtle Bay community.

Galleria on Third is not only a platform for renowned artists but also a nurturing ground for emerging talent. The gallery has featured the works of up-and-coming artists, and it has proudly displayed pieces by celebrated artists such as Romero Brito, DeLaVega, Marc Tetro, and fashion icon Carson Kressley, as well as news personality Sandy Kenyon.

After years of advising and framing other artists’ works, Shadin has returned to his own artistic roots. He has developed a unique process that transforms fine art prints into stunning three-dimensional designs, captivating patrons with their sophistication and depth. His mixed-media pieces are a visual feast, filled with whimsy and creativity, reflecting his sense of charity and generosity.

In his own words, Shadin Hossain said, “I don’t know what I can give this city, but I’ll do my best.” It is clear that he has given the city more than he could have ever imagined—art, inspiration, and the unwavering belief in the power of community and compassion.

As Galleria on Third prepares to move to a new location after 20 years, the legacy of Shadin Hossain and his dedication to art, charity, and the city of New York will continue to shine brightly. To continue its legacy of 1999 (the year of foundation), the owner will host a super sale where people can get frames at an unthinkable price. It remarkably reflects that even in 2023 people can get the pricing available in 1999 which is only possible by Galleria On Third. In a world often characterized by its hustle and bustle, Shadin’s story serves as a reminder that sometimes, the most beautiful masterpieces are those created with a generous heart.
