Chamberlain started making music and writing songs after high school. J began reading and studying how poems were written and making beats with his cousin DeArron Crump. J said, “Other local artists in my area were way more popular than me, and then I got my song on 97.9 radio in the Texas mix in Houston, and I knew I could compete” It sparked a flame in J that has been driving him ever since. Although his music style has changed since then, that moment and the conversations with the radio DJs changed his vision. J said,” I initially made music to prove a point, not looking to make it into something. It was a personal therapy for me. I grew up wanting to be like Stephen A Smith, Skip, and those guys you see on TV talking sports.”
