Being a woman is both difficult and a blessing. Women are considered the backbone of not just a family but the entire society. They build a family, prepare food, educate their children, and make them productive for society. There are a number of responsibilities that women need to fulfill, and the most important one is being a mother. No one loves unconditionally except for mother; she sacrifices her own happiness to ensure her children’s best life. In this world, no one’s love can be compared to a mother’s love, which is pure, sincere, and unconditional. The responsibilities of mothers cannot be counted on fingers; even if they are housewives, they are busy taking care of their children and cooking meals for them. A mother’s job is difficult, and it becomes tougher for working mothers. Being a responsible mother while contributing to society is not everyone’s capacity. They look after their families very well and perform great jobs in their profession. One such example comes from a working mother, Nicole Thornes; she is a mother, a former police officer, and a death doula. Nicole is a role model for all women around the globe, willing to do something for society while raising their kids the best way.

Life is never easy; there are obstacles on the path, and only those achieve their dreams successfully who are passionate about it. Passion allows people to stay committed to their dreams and never lets them give up easily. No matter how big the responsibilities are, with patience and consistent effort, one can achieve whatever they want to. Life is all about being happy and gaining satisfaction. Both happiness and satisfaction come with success and helping others. Those who stay committed to their dreams might reach their destination slowly, but they achieve in the end. Nicole is an example. In the middle of her college days, Nicole became a mother. Now she had kids to look after and a dream to pursue. Unlike others, she could have given up on her studies to focus on her children. But she chose to manage both things the best way. When she realized her kids needed more attention, she took a break from her studies but didn’t give it up. She managed time and later successfully pursued her Criminal Justice degree from Wor Wic Community College. Born on January 9, 1980, Nicole Thornes is not just a mother but a former police officer working as a mother of society. She joined the police with a passion for helping people. She still believes that one who helps others in their needs lives a satisfying life. This was the reason she chose the police career and later became a death doula with the same intention of helping others and supporting dying and their families.

In her early career, she worked as a sales clerk at Barb’s Gift & Hallmark. Then she studied criminal justice to develop her career as a police. While raising kids and serving as a police officer, she always believed in bringing peace to her society and helping people in their time of need. Unfortunately, an injury ended her career. Despite going through medical retirement, she did not stop. Although she couldn’t continue contributing to society being a police officer due to a career-ending injury, she had other ways. She didn’t give up and started her new career as a death doula. She finds satisfaction in helping people and is doing so in the death industry by comforting and supporting the dying and their families. Nicole is a woman of ambition, dreams, and kindness. She is a mother, a former police officer, and a death doula, creating an example for women around the world.

Sue Tobert’s Book Happi’s World Is A Gem of A Book for All Ages

In today’s ever-changing world, everyone needs a boost of positivity and happiness every now and then, and Sue Tobert‘s book Happi’s World does exactly that for people of all ages. What makes it unique is that it is a 3-in-1 book that combines three very well-known activities: coloring mandalas, word searches, and yoga. Whether it is a child or adult doing the activities of the book, it is designed to evoke a sense of relaxation and improve one’s overall sense of well-being.

The book’s main character is an adorable lemur named Happi. Happi does yoga to help him stay calm and strong. In the book, he imagines places that bring him happiness. That’s how the book got its title Happi’s World.

People of all ages will enjoy doing a variety of basic yoga poses, searching for words and Happi in his poses that are hidden in original themed mandalas. In addition, at the end of the book, there are interesting and fun facts about ring-tailed lemurs, which are classified as endangered species.

After a 33-year teaching career, Sue is now retired. However, her creativity and commitment to impacting the lives of struggling learners continued as she created her own non-traditional tutoring business for struggling elementary students called Yogademics (www.yogademics.com), which combines her teaching expertise and knowledge of kids’ yoga. During COVID, she thought about the positive effects of yoga and mandala coloring on children’s social, emotional, and physical development. This inspired her to create Happi’s World.

Happi’s World is a unique activity book that won second place in both The Moonbeam Child’s Book Award and The Purple Dragon Book Award contest for 2022. It is a great book for kids, families, teachers, occupational therapists, and anyone who likes to color.

“This fun activity book does have many benefits: it releases stress, promotes a sense of calm and relaxation, improves focus, and strengthens fine and gross motor skills in children. It’s also a great way for everyone to unplug from the electronic world of today,” Sue shared.

“I had been doing yoga myself for a while and really loved it. I started incorporating yoga poses into my teaching and using mandalas in my classroom before both became popular! All this led to me writing and winning two Hamilton Education Foundation Grants: ‘Homework Without Tears’ and ‘Yoga, It’s Elementary,’ which I presented one year at the annual NJ Teacher Convention,” Sue revealed.

Happi’s World is the perfect book for parents who want their children to have an engaging activity at home and for adults looking for a calming way to pass the time. More impressively, readers of the book do not need to have prior knowledge of yoga, as its easy and fun poses are great for anyone of any age from all walks of life.

RYAN DUNDUN: THE ALL AMERICAN ATHLETE

Imagine you are a college student. Your major? You have two of them: statistics and economics. Not a walk in the park, but hey, how bad can it be? Now add a computer science minor into the mix. Well, there goes any free time you may have had. Challenging, but still doable. Simultaneously, outside of the classroom you are training as a D1 athlete. Now you are probably thinking I’m pushing it. That it sounds unrealistic. One college student however, proved otherwise. We are going to explore the inspiring triumphs of the American allstar Ryan Dundun, who managed to juggle a vigorous academic program and record breaking feats as an athlete.

Ryan’s athletic accomplishments were not exclusive to his college career. In his High School years, Dundun won the WIAA D1 Sectional – Waukesha North for the 4×800 relay. Alongside teammates Trenton Daniels, Brad Johnson, and Stephen Browne, Dundun and the team triumphed in winning the State Championship. Dundun’s impressive time of 7:44.80 had secured the team’s spot as number one in a top ten all time performance ranking. The relay team received recognition as best in the state at the Penn Relays with an impressive 12 second lead amongst their competitors. Lastly, as a senior in High School, Dundun won the GMC Varsity Outdoor Championship by setting a record breaking personal best of 50.25 seconds.

The young athlete’s love of sports encouraged him to venture onto the soccer field in addition to his passion for track and field. In 2013, Dundun played forward on his high school’s soccer team, participating in a total of 24 games. Seventeen wins, three ties, and four losses. Dundun was able to claim several of the winning goals throughout his time as a soccer player, with numerous shots on goal. After a discouraging losing streak the year prior, his team advanced to the state semifinals, finishing second in the league behind Whitefish Bay at a 2-1 loss as Ryan came to the rescue with an assist.

Fast forward a few years, and Dundun’s athletic career is flourishing at the University of Wisconsin – Madison as a Division 1 Track and field Athlete. Some highlights of his college career include competing in the NCAA West Preliminary Championships. He entered the competition with a season best of 52 seconds in the 400 meter hurdles. Ryan had the pleasure of competing alongside a present day Australian Olympian Oliver Hoare, Austin Rendon, and Ollin Hacker, in winning a Big Ten Indoor Track and Field title for the men’s distance medley with a winning time of 9:44:62.

At the 2019 NCAA Indoor Championship in Birmingham, Alabama, Dundun and his teammates Oliver Hoare, Eric Brown, and Olin Hacker, finished seventh in the 4×800 meter relay with Notre Dame securing first place. His team completed the race in 9:34.74, with Dundun coming in at 2:55.59 for the 800m.

Progress was not optional for Ryan. Regardless of the number of tournaments he competed in over his high school and college career, his most intimidating competitor was himself. Every great athlete understands they are only as good as their previous best, and Dundun was no exception. His personal best for the 400 meter hurdles spiked from 53.49 seconds in 2017, to 52.19 seconds in 2019. Similarly, his record for the indoor 400 meters improved from 50.98 seconds in 2018 to 49.48 seconds in 2019.

Statistics, Economics, computer science, and a love of sports. It would have been easier to give up one of the majors. Drop the minor. Cut back on the training. However, “easy” wasn’t Ryan’s priority. Through determination, self discipline, and enthusiasm for success, Ryan Dundun wasn’t going to give up one for the other. We often doubt ourselves in what we can achieve; where the edge of our limit lies. Hopefully incoming freshman and ambitious high school students will aspire to emulate a similar drive, and use Ryan’s experiences as an anecdote; showcasing you don’t need to sacrifice one interest to excel in another.
