The Global Mixed Gender Basketball League (GMGB) Set to Give Basketball a New Face

Basketball has seen massive growth over the last two decades in the form of viewership and followership of the sport. Mariachi Quinto Sol is a modern mariachi sextet who are introducing their musical heritage to new audiences at home and abroad. The group, led by musical director Robert Diaz, made their debut in 2018. In September 2021 the group made history as the first mariachi band to take the stage at West Hollywood’s iconic rock club, the Whiskey A Go Go. 

The Sunset Strip venue is well known for hosting the top rock and metal acts of the last fifty years! In the 60s the club was home to the likes of The Doors and Buffalo Springfield. In the 80’s, glam metal rockers like Mötley Crüe and Ratt haunted its halls. For one night last yea, the hard rock Mecca traded in its hairspray and leather for Charros and botonadura. 

Now once again, Mariachi Quinto Sol is bringing their Latin vibes to a celebrated LA club. On July 9, 2022 they will take the stage as the first mariachi band to entertain patrons of The Mint. The West Pico Boulevard venue has played host to rock, blues and country legends since it opened in 1937. Everyone from jazz master Billy Cobham to blues queen Bonnie Raitt and Rolling Stone Ronnie Wood have graced its stage. At eighty five years-old, the historic hole in the wall is now adding mariachi to its repertoire.
