How the King of Juice, Ross Franklin, built a Juice Bar Franchise Empire

Pure Green juice bar locations can be found all around the United States and has quickly scaled the brand to 50 locations open or in development. The rapid expansion of Pure Green Franchise is led by Founder and CEO, Ross Franklin.

Franklin founded Pure Green in 2014 and started franchising in 2020. According to IbisWorld, the market size of the health food and supplement franchises industry is 824.8 million in 2022. Franklin is focused on growing Pure Green Franchise to 1,000 units within the US alone.

Franklin believes the key to franchise success is by recruited the best and the brightest franchise partners and setting them up on the Pure Green Franchise systems and processes. Pure Green Franchise has a solid track record of success with an average store unit volume of $719,452 reported in 2021. The Pure Green Franchise product mix consists of handcrafted superfood smoothies, acai and bowls and cold pressed juice. The model is designed to be streamlined with no juice manufacturing required and is plug and play.

Pure Green Franchise requires franchise partners to personally work the first 60 days in the store of their first unit. Pure Green Franchise finds that owner/operators make the best franchisees. Their presence in their stores allows them to build solid relationships with guests and fully mobilize their teams.

To ensure every guest that walks into a Pure Green location feels cared for, Pure Green has developed standards for hospitality. Every guest that enters a Pure Green location gets greeted by the staff when they come within five feet of a team member. Another standard is that for every delivery order that is placed, a personalized handwritten card thanking the delivery guest is including within the delivery bag.

The juice bar franchise industry has been growing exponentially over the past decade and the global pandemic of COVID-19 has acerated the growth. Prior to starting Pure Green Franchise, Franklin realized that all the juice bar franchises in the industry have large footprints because they need to build manufacturing centers to make cold pressed juice at every unit. With Pure Green’s national wholesale business already in thousands of accounts and with national distribution in place, Franklin realized that he had a distinctive edge that would make Pure Green standout as a juice bar franchise with a high barrier to entry for competitors or copycats. Franklin set-up Pure Green Franchise where Pure Green’s wholesale division sells Pure Green franchisees the cold pressed juice and shots which eliminates the need for franchisees to manufacture their own cold pressed juice. This allows Pure Green locations to take on smaller footprints with lower labor costs.

In his effort to get to 1,000 Pure Green Franchise units, Franklin is training franchisees that are aligned with Pure Green’s mission at Pure Green University, a dedicated training center that teaches franchisees how to operate Pure Green locations. Franklin has embedded techniques and strategies from his best-selling book The Founder Success Formula into the Pure Green University curriculum.

Pure Green Franchise has a large wait list of potential franchisees that are eager to join the Pure Green franchise system and open their own Pure Green locations. More info can be found on their website: www.puregreenfranchise.com

From South Korea to New York – Michelle Byun’s Journey to Success

Michelle who was born in South Korea but had attended the highly prestigious Shanghai American School and has spent most of her life in Shanghai, China moved to New York City just less than a decade ago to start her new life in the big city and pursue her dreams of becoming an artist. Attending one of the world’s most renowned higher education institutions, Parsons School of Design where she is majoring in Fine Art she took interest in internet culture and joined TikTok, a popular social media platform that enabled anyone to quickly create and share short form video content.

She quickly gained immense popularity creating BTS and storytime content that has gained her a following of over 500,000 people worldwide, making her one of the most successful creators on the platform. Her fun demeanour and her enthusiastic energy has earned her placements with luxury goods and services conglomerate LVMH and entertainment juggernaut Warner Bros. all within her gap year.

She is also the Creative and Marketing Director for Online Shop, Britain’s largest marketplace and e-commerce platform alongside her partner Terry McGinnis. She is now being lauded as one of the biggest influences for females to join the world of tech in Europe and US and is showcasing her entrepreneur side even before reaching 21 years of age.

We caught up with Michelle for a look inside her life in New York through a Q&A and the tips she had for others looking to become entrepreneurs like herself.

Q: How was the move to NYC coming from somewhere such as Shanghai?

A: The two cities are surprisingly similar in terms of the bustling energy but it’s definitely different. Moving to New York felt quite natural to me. Adjusting wasn’t easy but it felt like the right move for the next chapters of my life. I haven’t visited Shanghai in a couple of years and I terribly miss it. I highly recommend visiting both cities.

Q: The experience of a big city must be daunting, how did you adapt to New York compared to Shanghai?

A: Luckily, my family has always been supportive of my decisions and they try their best to help in any way. I was privileged enough to have my support system with me during times of hardship, especially through the pandemic. New York was so daunting at first that I even found it difficult to leave my apartment for the first month. I spent that month trying different creative hobbies and projects in order to ground myself again.

Q: Majoring in Fine Art must be exciting, have you always wanted to be an artist?

A: Without a doubt! I would say that I’ve always been attracted to emotional experiences. I even nagged my parents to take me to visit art exhibitions as a kid. I admire the artist’s ability to question, change and evoke the viewer’s emotions through timeless works of art. There’s nothing better than a good cry in the middle of a museum.

Q: You recently were interviewed by a British business magazine that called you a ‘Top Tech Executive’ and an inspiration, how does that resonate with you?

A: I feel incredibly honored to have been interviewed by such a notable news outlet. It surprises me every time to see my face being featured next to those I look up to. To be frank with you, I still haven’t gotten used to the title ‘Top Tech Executive’. I’ve always been focused on the next step that I haven’t realized how far I’ve come. Especially being a young woman in a heavily male-dominated field, my position of power was always questioned. Although I don’t quite see myself as an inspiration just yet, I aim to bring more young creative talents into higher positions of power.

Q: Who is the biggest inspiration in your life right now?

A: I’ve learned from amazing mentors that have guided me to where I am right now and I’m grateful to each and every one of them. I would say that Naomi Gleit has been a massive inspiration to me and to countless others. I truly believe that Meta would not be where it is today without the help and determination of her fiery passion. She’s taken her platform to help young women like myself to take leadership and has even helped the team at Online Shop with optimal problem-solving. I look forward to more of her “Naomi-isms” and hope to apply it to my everyday life.

Q: You must be quite the socialite, how is it working in the fashion and entertainment business, especially at such a young age.

A: I’m actually not the socialite people imagine me to be. I’ve would say that I’ve been pretty successful with spotting opportunities and growing my network but it definitely took time and perseverance. Most of the projects I’ve been involved in have been very hands-on and it’s been a great way to push my creativity in different ways.

Q: Some say New York is the home of art and fashion, what are some of your favorite spots to visit to view art or get the latest threads?

A: Being that I’m always in and out of the city, my fashion designer friend Grace Jung, knows all the best places to go at the right times. During our free days, we would spend our afternoons visiting galleries in Chelsea to spot some inspiration.

Q: Having worked with likes of LVMH and Warner and now being in big tech at a senior executive level, especially internet retail, how do you find interacting with other employees who might be more senior to you?

A: It’s amazing to be able to exchange ideas with employees that have more years of experience. I am always open to learning and finding the most effective ways to resolve an issue. Given that I’ve started a bit younger than others, I was always surrounded by people that were older. Although I did have moments where I felt “too young” or even underqualified to be working with major companies, I always tried above and beyond. I threw myself at opportunities even when the chances were slim and I believe that’s what got me here.

Q: What’s on your Spotify playlist this year? Any new artists you’re enjoying thoroughly?

A: Although I’m known to be a massive BTS stan, there have been other artists that have been on repeat recently. I believe that there is no better feeling than going out on late night drives and blasting songs by The Weeknd. I’m very excited to see his artistic story and message prevail as he progresses into future albums.

Q: Many people are trying to create their own brands, it is hard to set yourself apart in a noisy world, what are some of your top tips to be noticed?

A: Not only is brand identity extremely important when it comes to business but so is personal identity. I’ve realized that people buy for people. The stronger and more compelling the story behind the product, the further you set yourself apart from others.

Price hikes for electric vehicles as inflation continue

Photo: Salwan Georges | The Washington Post | Getty Images

Auto companies are jacking up prices of their electric vehicles amid rising prices of essential materials for EV batteries.

Companies like Tesla, Rivian, and Cadillac, among others, have announced their increase following the unsteady and volatile market conditions around the globe. However, battery prices have been steadily declining over the years.

The decision of many automakers followed after a trusted firm projected a ‘sharp increase’ in battery prices over the next four years. According to the firm, prices will hike by more than 20%, atop supply chain disruptions due to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.

Electronic vehicles are expensive, to begin with — topped with the price hikes, the products will be even hard to acquire by the average American.

Tesla, the leading innovator of electronic cars, even had to increase prices — twice in March, to battle “significant recent inflation issues.” The company is known to be one of the first to initiate price reduction as part of its strategy to make zero-emission vehicles marketable to the public.

Due to the volatility of the markets in light of recent events, Teslas are now more expensive than they were last year — with prices of their cheapest vehicle jumping from $38,190 to $46,990, a 23% increase.

Auto company Rivia also initiated a price increase of their products during the first week of March. The company announced an 18% increase in their R1T model (now valued at $79,500) and their R1S model (a 21% jump, now selling at $84,500).

However, Rivian simultaneously announced a lesser offer for their electric motors to compensate for the hikes of their 4-wheeled counterparts.

Rivian CEO RJ Scaringe wrote to the stakeholders after controversies surrounded the announcement. “In speaking with many of you over the last two days, I fully realize and acknowledge how upset many of you felt,”

“Since originally setting our pricing structure, and most especially in recent months, a lot has changed. Everything from semiconductors to sheet metal to seats has become more expensive,” he explained.

Meanwhile, the Lucid Group hinted to the public about the increase of their sedans as well. The company announced that price hikes would be applied to all Air Luxury sedan models except one. Models would see a 10 to 12 percent jump in prices.

Lucid CEO Peter Rawlinson told customers that the company would honor the rates of the reservations and orders made before the announcement. “The world has changed dramatically from the time we first announced Lucid Air back in September 2020,” Rawlinson said in a conference call.

General Motors have also increased the price tag on some of its vehicles, including the Cadillac Lyriq crossover EV, which is now offered at $62,990, a $3,000 increase from before.

Ford Motor, on the other hand, has surprised competitors with lower market prices — its F-150 Lightning debuted at $39,974.

Ford management said that they would like to keep the prices stable even amid the developments concerning prices of raw materials, among others.

Darren Palmer, Ford’s vice president of global EV programs, said, “We’re going to still keep it for everybody, but we’ll have to react on commodities, I’m sure.”

Gerard Grogans’ Contribution to the Personal Development Industry

Growing up, Gerard didn’t grow up in the healthiest of family environments. He was subject to physical, emotional, and psychological abuse, which later contributed to him becoming the man he is today. Despite all of the challenges Gerard faced, he used those lessions to recreate himself into the best version of himself that he could be today. Gerard is now an author, speaker, and transformational leader for others who wish to become their best selves.

The story of hope and resilience

In many ways, Gerard’s story is one of hope and resilience. He has proven that it is possible to overcome even the most difficult of circumstances and create a better life for yourself.

The emotional and physical pain he experienced growing up allowed him to look at suffering from a different perspective. And has helped him develop the tools and strategies to help others change, grow, and transform themselves. He learned to master his own psychology and mindset in order to become the successful speaker and thought leader he is today. Gerard is also grateful for the challenges he faced in life because they made him a more passionate and compassionate man.

Gerard has devoted his life to helping people overcome the mental blocks and barriers keeping them from reaching their full potential. So that they can be the best version of themselves that they can be and create a life that is truly worth living. Gerard’s story is proof that even those who have been abuse can become the person they are truly destined to be, deep down inside.

Education

Gerard is no ordinary 55-year-old thought leader. In addition to having a wealth of life experiences, he has also achieved an impressive level of academic success, earning a Bachelor’s degree in general psychology and a Doctorate in metaphysical psychology by the time most people are thinking about retirement.

For Gerard, education is a part of your human growth and development, whether that’s self education or formal education. Each degree is another piece of the puzzle that helps him to better understand the complexities of the human mind. Now, with a lifetime of learning under his belt, he’s able to offer unique insights into the workings of the psyche that few others can match. Whether through writing books, coaching, and running his seminars, Gerard brings a wealth of knowledge and wisdom to bear in every situation, helping others to see the world in new and exciting ways.

Books by Gerard Grogans

Gerard’s experiences inspired him to write three books. “The Blueprint: How to Recreate Your Life in Six Simple Steps” was his first book. This book highlights the transformation Gerard went through himself to go from where he was to where he is today. And how you can do the same.

“The Jump Start 90-Day Course Creation Program,” is his second book, that teaches you how to turn your knowledge and experience into a high-end signature program that sells. According to Gerard, this book will assist the readers in developing a step-by-step framework that they can then teach to others on what makes you different from anyone else. This book will help you become the leading expert and thought leader in your field, no matter if you believe you’re expert or not.

Lastly, Gerard started, “Total Transformation Leadership Academy,” because he wanted to teach what he knew on a broader scale and be able to help more people change, grow, and transform themselves into the best version of themselves. The academy teaches individuals how to master their own psychology and become the person they know they are meant to be, deep down inside. The academy is the best tools and strategies Gerard has learned and mastered over the years designed to help someone transform from a caterpillar into a butterfly.

Gerard wrote his third book, “The Entrepreneur’s Roadmap to Success: How to Start Your Own Million-Dollar Personal Development Coaching and Training Company,” which is the step-by-step guide he teaches in his coaching and seminars that has now become his third book. Gerard developed this book to teach others how to integrate all of the knowledge and wisdom he’s learned over the years so that they can turn themselves into the best versions of themselves that they can be.

All three books built on one another to provide a complete transformational experience.

Barbara Braathen – A Renowned Name in The Art Industry.

Considered a veteran in the field, Barbara Braathen is a contemporary art dealer, curator, and consultant who possesses a creative skill set and a mind that refuses to believe in boundaries.  Whether working with a client to select the perfect artwork or consulting with an artist on their archival needs, she brings valuable experience, enthusiasm, and a sense of fun to any project.

Braathen’s Experience When She Started Her Galleries

On June 1, 1980, Braathen opened her first art gallery in Lower Manhattan.  A great breakthrough was when a major collector and his wife visited on January 1, 1981, and purchased six large paintings by Jamie Dalglish.  Braathen recalls going to a vintage clothing store, ecstatic that she could spend $90. That was back when money was not as significant as the commitment to aesthetics and poetry.

At the time, the contemporary art world was a cottage industry in which everyone either knew or was aware of each other.  It was customary and possible to go to all of the art shows and read all of the art periodicals.  A new gallery specializing in contemporary art, such as hers, would open only every few years.  She opened with blessings and encouragement from around the world.

Barbara’s second gallery at 33 Bleecker Street was open from 1988 to 1998.  It was speculated that the gallery space, located at the top of Mott Street, was possibly once Nikola Tesla’s studio, or perhaps Mott Iron Works, where Marcel Duchamp obtained his iconic readymade work of art, the urinal.   Steps away was the only Louis Sullivan building in Manhattan, which housed the offices of Artforum, at that time the most important art magazine in the world; across the street was the acclaimed Noho Star where Braathen generally had breakfast, lunch, and/or dinner along with innumerable other art world figures; and nearby on the Bowery was the historical nightclub venue CBGBs.   In 1989, when the actor Fred Gwynne had a show at Barbara Braathen Gallery, the whole of Bleecker Street between Bowery and Lafayette was closed off for the crowds and large television cameras.

Her Passion

Having advanced degrees in modern art history from UCLA, Braathen continues to be intrigued by the subject, particularly “The Spiritual in Art.”  In 2011 the School of Visual Arts sponsored the webinar “Beyond Kandinsky,” developed and hosted by artist Taney Roniger, and this inspired Braathen to focus on Kandinsky and his Russian roots.  She wrote three film scripts about this subject, including “The Silver Age.”   Based on a true story, it depicts a group of Russian creatives in the early decades of the twentieth-century who together endure three domestic revolutions, a world war, and the collapse of empire; for six months after the Tsar’s abdication in 1917, Russia struggled to become a democracy but the Communists were more organized and managed to wrest control of the government.

Braathen came from her extensive university studies believing that Art and Spirit were inextricably linked. However, she was unhappy to learn that in the real world of professional life, one could never bring up the sensitive subject for fear of being labeled as a dimwitted-insignificant-fluffhead-no-count-dreamer.  In 2019, the blockbuster exhibition of Hilma af Klint paintings at the Guggenheim Museum changed everything, achieving the museum’s highest attendance ever.  Five years before Kandinsky, the reclusive Swedish artist, virtually unknown to the wider art world,  produced the first abstract paintings in a series of colossal works.  With this show, the previously taboo subject of the Spiritual in Art became suddenly acceptable.

The path was open for Braathen to achieve a lifelong desire:  to have a gallery “Dedicated to the Spiritual in Art.”  Delighted that current technology allows this to be an online gallery, she stated in an interview that she intends to present contemporary artists who have dealt with spiritual material throughout their careers, as well as to detail a history of the subject from cave drawings to current trends.  She also stated that she is working on a personal blog where she will explore her views on The Spiritual in Art.

Her belief is that art exists in a sacred and highly regarded sphere.  And that all works of art, whether the focus is political, phenomenological, descriptive, symbolic, scientific, humorous, conceptual, illustrative, numerical, cynical, ornamental, or aleatory, and regardless of the artist’s claims, are inherently spiritual.  And that art has the power to transform people, cultures, and the future.

She is a lifelong student of the spiritual sciences, currently exploring the works of Rudolf Steiner, and studying with Paramahansa Yogananda.

Braathen’s View on Art Industry

Braathen considers the art industry to be the best in the world.  It offers an unparalleled variety of creative personalities, experiences, interests, objects, environments, thoughts and conversations.

Marcus Patterson commits with Hoops for ALSF (Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation) in TBT

The Basketball Tournament, a competition that offers players the world over a shot at fabulous prize money, opened for business in 2014 with an 8:30 a.m. game in front of 17 fans. Eight years and over 400 games later, TBT has grown to count ESPN as its distribution partner while awarding more than $10M in prize money. On top of its commercial success, TBT has already brought welcome change to a flagging NBA tradition. TBT adopted the Elam Ending for its final four minutes of games in 2017; three years later, the NBA adopted it for the All-Star game. The response from fans has been overwhelmingly positive. TBT is bringing fun to the game. To do so, they need exciting, talented players. Like TBT newcomer Marcus Patterson.

Patterson, who plays for Portimonense of Portugal’s Proliga, is a 6-foot-4 multidimensional shooting guard who proved last year that you can go home again, enjoying a second successful stint with Portimonense. He was the team’s second-leading scorer, averaging 14.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 1.5 assist on a blistering 64.1% shooting inside the arc in under 25 minutes a game. Patterson finished the season strong with a three-game stretch scoring 23 points or more, including a 34-point,12-rebound tour de force against Sampaense. Portimonense finished a disappointing 10-12, but Patterson was a positive all year, earning positive plus/minus ratings in 12 of his 14 games.

He’ll be hooping in the tourney’s Xavier region for Hoops ALSF, one of 64 teams competing in TBT. Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation is a non-profit organization founded by Alexandra “Alex” Scott. Before she was a year old, Scott was diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a type of childhood cancer. After a hospital stay for treatment, grateful for the help she’d received, Scott wanted to do something for any children suffering from cancer. She and her brother opened a lemonade stand and raised $2000 to donate. By the time she passed away at 8, she’d helped raise over a million dollars.

TBT and ALSF each began with a vision that may have seemed unreachable. Greatness takes root in humility; there must be stability within before one can venture too far or too high. With Patterson on-board, Hoops for ALSF hopes this is the beginning of a foundation that lays the groundwork for a limitless future.

Each year, ATIM’s Top 60 Masters Awards are held to acknowledge the trailblazing endeavors of artists in the global art scene. The 10th installment of this grand celebration will be held on June 17, 2022, in New York City. Artists from all across the globe will travel to the event and be awarded in several categories.

Artists will be vying for the highly coveted award executed by none other than ArtTour International Magazine co-founder Viviana Puello. The award is an elegant, stunning sculptural project entitled “Rising Above.” It is a 25-cm angel-like figure with magnificent open wings and extended arms painted in Ferrari Red Enamel and 24 Karat Italian Gold.

The ATIM’s Top 60 Masters Awards are among the most recognized and prestigious art award programs in the entire world. The award has internationally propelled its artist recipients to a new level in their careers. The pristine sculpture is a symbol of their collective success in the art world. Receiving the award has brought even bigger success to thriving artists, elevating their credibility, sheer artistry, and exposure.

The prestigious event is celebrated once a year, and unlike most award programs in the industry, artists who are recognized by ATIM’s Top 60 Masters Awards will go through a rigorous vetting process as they are meticulously screened if they are truly deserving of a nomination, let alone the award itself. The award-giving body receives over three thousand artist submissions each year, and only sixty artists get selected as winners.

ArtTour International Magazine has built a massive reputation in the art world, garnering over two million readers spread across almost 200 countries. ArtTour International has become the definitive authority in the art scene, with various programs that heavily support artists, including a TV show called The ArtTour International Show, available on Apple TV, Amazon Fire, and Roku streaming platforms.

ArtTour International lives and breathes under the philosophy of promoting artists to raise awareness and consciousness on the most relevant social topics by employing their works of art, ultimately aiming at a louder voice for artists worldwide. The brand amplifies global artists’ messages through its ever-growing platform, allowing smaller artists to gain a voice amid the cutthroat competition.

ArtTour International Magazine was created by Viviana Puello alongside her husband, the award-winning film director Alan Grimandi. After two decades of working in the art industry and witnessing the struggles and hardships that many artists face, Viviana decided to utilize her expertise to help others. By creating this incredible multi-media platform and teaching creative entrepreneurs how to build a successful business and stay true to their message, Viviana is changing the future of many artists worldwide.
