For Ramon “Lifeof9000” Rivas, watching his wife hustle has inspired him to go even further in his career in the music industry.

Ramon Rivas was born in the Far Rockaway district of the New York borough, where he spent most of his childhood. The Queens native was an introverted character in his upbringing but still exhibited signs of a gifted youth who was passionate about music. By eight years old, Ramon started to intern and host the daily television program Kid’s Beat on CNN, covering current events, sports, and entertainment. The early gig helped progress him to become the CNN weekly program engineer.

When he was 17 years old, Ramon received the opportunity of a lifetime when he was invited to relocate to Atlanta with Mel Testamark, Jermaine Dupri, and the So So Def Recordings family as an in-house engineer. He took the offer in a heartbeat, taking the stage name, Lifeof9000. The prodigious sound engineer would later contribute to the succession of projects, and in 2007 received his first major credit for Queen Latifah’s Trav’lin Light album.

Since then, Lifeof9000’s career has continued to go uphill. He became the premier choice for many A-list music acts and has closely collaborated with Jay-Z, Beyonce, Alicia Keys, and Ariana Grande, to name a few. However, despite working with some of the biggest names, Lifeof9000 has been open to collaborating with any artist reaching out to him.

“I am willing to work with anyone that is ready to create a smash,” he said, “I can make anything for all ages and genres. I produced a nominated children’s album, so my spectrum is whoever is ready to move their feet.”

Over the years, Lifeof9000s career continued to grow. He became a Grammy award-winning engineer that is still labeled as a work-for-hire recording artist for others. A multifaceted individual, Lifeof9000 does more than just engineer, mix, and program. He also does line production and camera editing for the recent BMF series on Starz Network and the upcoming Brandy R&B series Queens on ABC Network, which is set to release in October. “I’ve been blessed to be the assistant for Love Records and Diddy’s September release, Off the Grid Volume 1.”

With so many projects in his hands, anyone would have easily burnt out, but the prodigious sound engineer is more than glad to be busy as he hopes to match his wife’s hustle. “She’s a sports agent official, licensed bartender, full-time mother, and has her masters in sports,” he explained, “I won the Grammys, but it increased my hunger. Seeing a goal, I got to make 5 to 10k a week, or it wasn’t a productive week.”

Ramon “Lifeof9000” Rivas hopes to achieve similar, if not greater, success as his wife. He foresees earning $25,000 a month. Despite his goal requiring a lot of work, the Grammy winner is more than ready to take on the task.
