The music industry is getting a lot of upstart talents that have been making a lot of noise in and out of the scene. Daniel Armani Crawford is among those talented musicians, having just entered the scene and already garnering tons of attention through his music. More famously known as Gröövÿ Böy, the up-and-coming artist is setting the music industry ablaze with his slick personality and vibrant energy.

As his name implies, Gröövÿ Böy is a talented artist who has got the groove and the larger-than-life personality to make it big in the music industry. Dropping a few hits here and there, the rising star has already become a household name in the New Jersey area despite the infancy of his music career.

Gröövÿ Böy has an infectious positive energy that somehow brightens up any room that he’s in. He’s definitely the life of the party, and he’s making himself known through his music. “It’s strange because being considered a weirdo, I thought of that like I was being told I was a genius or some sort of menace,” said the thriving artist. “Then I realized that it helped make everything else stand out on its own,” he added.

All of that freedom allowed Gröövÿ Böy to let his imaginations run wild and build real and lasting connections with people from different walks of life. He helps people accept their genuine selves and free them from the shackles that they’ve bound themselves with. “Don’t ever get discouraged from judgments or by what’s trending nowadays,“ said Gröövÿ Böy. “Be real with the universe, and the universe will be real with you.”

Music lovers and people who greatly enjoy the music scene will greatly gravitate towards Gröövÿ Böy and all his musical content. With a sheer passion for creating music, the talented music artist is expressing his genuine self. Motivated by a love for music and his passion for creativity, Gröövÿ Böy is known as one of the hardest working artists in the scene, and he isn’t showing any signs of slowing down any time soon.

“Once you have that love for doing something, you never want to stop or get taken out of that element because you know if you stop, so does that happiness or that purpose of living,” he eloquently explained. In the near future, the upstart artist sees himself continuing to create music and do what he loves, but at an even larger scale. “In a matter of five years, everybody is going to know the name WorsTribe,” said Gröövÿ Böy. 

WorsTribe is his popular music unit that is taking the music industry by storm. With the way things are going right now, it’s clear to see that it is only a matter of time before Gröövÿ Böy and his team reach the pinnacle of the music industry. “Everything we do is by design, so it’s only evolution from here,” he said. “Standing tall” among a sea of stunning models can be pretty tricky nowadays. Modeling has become highly competitive, and there are stereotypes that many people in the industry naturally gravitate to. One of the most significant factors in getting selected has to do with a model’s height, leaving very little room for those who aren’t gifted in that aspect. But petite model Breona Wilson looks to challenge that notion and help more women below the standard height requirement to shine in today’s modeling world.

Breona is only 5 feet and 4.5 inches tall, well below what most modeling agencies, runway coordinators, and publications require. But she has continually grown in her craft and persevered through the challenge, proving that height doesn’t have to be a limiting factor for aspiring and existing models. 

Much of Breona’s tenacity and drive comes from her background. She has been called many things, but “camera shy” was never one of them. When she was five years old, she was already dressing up in her mother’s clothes and putting on makeup, posing for the camera whenever she could. Wilson’s personality and charisma are contagious, filling the room with energy and color as she enters it. That character trait would become a stepping stone for her into the modeling world. 

Breona Wilson didn’t always aspire to be a professional model. Instead, she wanted to become a United States Marine at a young age and serve her country. But when she turned seventeen, a modeling agency picked her up and discovered her natural approach in front of the camera. After that chance encounter, Breona has been heavily involved in modeling work ever since. 

Since her early beginnings in modeling, Breona has become one of the top petite models in the area, joining several runway events, gracing photoshoots, and appearing on many publications. Today, she hopes to stretch her limits a little more as she has recently announced that she will be going independent and launching a solo campaign. “Now, I’m motivated more than ever to make it big,” shares Wilson. “Not just for me, but for many who were like me but didn’t feel good enough to get into professional modeling.”

What eats the petite professional model up most is that thousands of “Breonas” out there have the talent and tenacity to become a professional model but aren’t gifted with height. She wants to stand as a monument for all petite models that there is a place for them in the modeling industry if they only move past the impostor syndrome and learn to differentiate themselves from among the crowds. “Not everyone has the height, but we can all ‘stand tall’ in our own unique way,” the model adds. “I realized instead of knocking on opportunity’s door; I’d make my own door and let myself in, create the things no one would give me. I can make something of myself by using my height as the thing that’ll make me stand out from the others. I want other petite models to realize that too.”

Breona Wilson aspires to reach more significant heights in her career and inspire a whole new generation of petite models in the process. She has no plans of slowing down and remains highly driven in her quest for building a legacy.

The theater industry is among many that have been badly hit when the pandemic forced industry closures starting last year. Despite this troubling turn of events, theater artists like Manhattan-based scenic and costume designer Christian Fleming never lost hope that we will return to being able to gather en masse for live performance. Now as the theater industry’s marquees are slowly turning back on, Fleming’s designs captured the eye of the USITT (United States Institute for Theater Technology, Inc.) award panel who recognized his promise as an emerging designer to watch with 2021’s USITT Scene Design Award sponsored by Rose Brand. It is clear by looking at Fleming’s work why he is an emerging designer Broadway’s eyes are keenly watching. 

As a young designer who had only recently graduated with an MFA from Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Drama when the industry shutdown began, entering a crippled industry did not dim his spirit and love for theater. “Graduating into an industry shutdown has been a challenging experience and caused me and many of my peers to question and reflect on how we will collectively help the industry realize we exist when things return,” Fleming noted. “It is amazing to have my work recognized and a welcome affirmation that even though the industry is dark, the future is bright,” he added.

Fleming’s future is indeed bright. Those who have worked with him praise his exciting potential and character. “Christian has every asset: attention to detail, total calm in a storm, openness to ideas far afield but healthy to explore, and a strong sense of what is entertaining and moving,” Melissa Errico, the Tony-nominated Broadway actress, states. Designer Anne Mundell only augments this glowing review of his talent. “Christian has my strongest endorsement as a designer and artist/citizen; he’s accomplished across the board from skills to ideas to realization. His work unquestionably rivals that of the most skilled and celebrated professionals.”  Fleming is sure to be a sought-after character in the industry—a talent able to grasp directors’ visions and elevate productions via considered visual storytelling. 

Fleming’s work was recently seen at Pittsburgh Festival Opera (Rusalka), Pittsburgh CLO (Game On), and Pittsburgh Opera (Afterwards: Mozart’s Idomeneo Reimagined). He was designing a production of Turn of the Screw the Britten opera when the country went into lockdown last year. His work was exhibited at the USITT Virtually Anywhere Conference and at Design Showcase West.

“With every production, I invent storytelling solutions that create context, establish focus, and activate the audience’s imagination,” Fleming revealed. He has a deep sense of understanding of the impact of every design choice he makes on the story being told. Fleming in particular views his work as visual storytelling; considered choices that help create clarity for the audience. “My experience as a director arms me with an intense appreciation for the process, an intimate understanding of how to tell a story and use all the elements available to a production, and a critical eye to be able to see when something might be exciting, but isn’t contributing to dramaturgical clarity,” he reflected.

With the theater industry poised for Broadway’s re-opening, Fleming hopes that the shutdown offered a moment for reflection. “I hope that this shutdown will lead to a revitalized return where the industry addresses and eliminates the systemic barriers and inequalities that have created such hardships for the working artists that make the industry function. The recent backlash against Scott Rudin (Broadway producer, who has had to step back due to allegations of bullying) shows a shift occurring within the industry towards supporting the artist. Importantly, the ‘We See You WAT’ movement has done amazing work to expose the racism faced by BIPOC artists and demand substantive change. We need greater equity and representation on design teams and of the stories produced. I’m excited by the potential and will do my part to ensure this reflection transforms into revitalization.”

As Broadway has scheduled its return after last year’s enforced shutdown and producers and directors begin to forge exciting new creative teams, we are excited to see what Fleming creates next.
