In a landmark event, Panjab University, Chandigarh, India, recently inaugurated its first Cyber Wellness Clinic in collaboration with a cloud-based cybersecurity company, the Information Sharing and Analysis Center (ISAC), and the Centre for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (CSDE). This initiative is part of a broader mission to provide free cybersecurity assistance, education, and multi-disciplinary victim support.

The CopConnect Cyber Wellness Clinic is more than just a victim support center—it serves as a cyber-first aid hub, providing technical, legal, and psychological assistance to cybercrime victims. The initiative is designed to cater to students, educators, and the public, equipping them with tools to detect and respond to cyber threats.

Key Features of the Cyber Wellness Clinic

• Hacked or Not Kiosk Machine – A state-of-the-art tool that helps users detect spyware, malware, and security threats on their devices.
• Immediate Cyber Victim Assistance – Experts provide step-by-step guidance for victims, including legal advice and emotional support.
• Cyber Crime First Responders (CCFRs) – Trained faculty and students act as first responders to help individuals report and mitigate cyber fraud incidents.
• Helpline Support and Awareness Training – Victims are educated on how to file official complaints via the national cybercrime helpline (1930) and the NCRP portal.

This initiative is not just limited to India. Cyber Wellness Clinics have already been launched in Bangalore, Mysuru, Mangaluru, and Delhi and will soon expand to more institutions worldwide. By creating a global network of cyber support centers, CopConnect is taking cybersecurity education to the next level.

Expanding the Reach of Cyber Awareness

The CopConnect Cyber Wellness Clinic at Panjab University is part of a larger initiative that began in Bengaluru in May 2024. Since then, it has expanded to Mysuru, Mangaluru, Delhi, and now Chandigarh, with plans underway to establish a seventh clinic at NITTTR Chandigarh. The goal is to create a network of cyber wellness centers across India, ensuring that cybersecurity education reaches as many people as possible.

The launch of such cybersecurity wellness centers comes at a critical time when cyber threats are becoming increasingly sophisticated. According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), financial losses due to cybercrime in the United States alone amounted to over $10 billion in 2023.

Cyber Wellness Clinics offer a model that could be replicated in universities across the United States, Europe, and other regions, empowering students with essential cybersecurity knowledge and practical skills.
