A master’s degree in management enabled Alexey to become a consultant for the renowned brand Pride Car Audio in 2013, a brand known for producing subwoofers, speakers, and amplifiers. Today, it’s a household name among car audio enthusiasts who value premium sound quality. Beyond this, Aleksei Grigorenko is the creator of unique solutions for customizing car audio. Over 14 years in the industry, he has completed 500 projects, with many earning prestigious international awards.
In a recent discussion, Aleksei shared insights on what anyone aspiring to become a car audio specialist should know. His advice is also valuable for those who appreciate high-quality sound in their vehicles.
Car acoustics influence sound quality
According to Aleksei, despite the significant growth of the car audio industry, the acoustic environment of the car itself often remains overlooked by professionals. “Everything from seat materials to dashboard panels, and even floor mats, affects sound waves. Fabrics and leather, for instance, absorb high frequencies, while glass and metal reflect sound”, Aleksei explains. A skilled car audio installer must consider these factors, carefully selecting and positioning components to optimize sound quality for each vehicle.
Multichannel sound is more than just extra speakers
To achieve a surround sound effect, each speaker must be synchronized so that the sound reaches the listener with minimal delay and maximum precision. “A car audio installer must have an in-depth understanding of every product they work with. The smallest nuances of any component and how it interacts with the overall system are crucial”, Aleksei emphasizes. To create the sensation of sound enveloping the listener from all sides, it’s essential to test the entire system at various volume levels and across different musical genres.

Some premium systems analyze the driver’s and passengers’ head positions, height, and even heart rate to fine-tune the sound. “This creates a personalized audio profile for the driver. In the future, we might see audio systems that adjust to the driver’s mood or fatigue level, ensuring maximum comfort during the ride”, says Grigorenko.

The high cost of premium components is not just due to the quality of materials and innovative features. These systems are also designed to consume minimal energy, which is especially important in vehicles where every unit of energy counts, such as electric cars. “The energy converted into sound shouldn’t strain the battery,” Aleksei stresses.

An improperly tuned car audio system can be a potential safety hazard, Aleksei warns. Music that’s too loud can reduce the driver’s focus and slow their reaction time. That’s why it’s crucial not to tamper with your car’s audio system on your own – always consult a professional.
“Today, there are systems that automatically adjust volume based on speed and road conditions, allowing the driver to focus on driving. But I have to emphasize: all these innovations must be professionally installed and configured”, Aleksei Grigorenko concludes.
