BLACKPINK’s Rosé Takes Off With Historical, Guinness Record-Breaking Solo Debut

Debuting at number one on the Billboard Hot 200, it immediately became clear to fans and listeners worldwide that, this year, BLACKPINK’s Rosé is taking no prisoners. From music shows, streaming platforms to coveted, praising reviews – her win was in the bag. According to the Guinness World Records, rightfully so.

Born in New Zealand and raised in Australia, Roseanne Park or Rosé is one of the Korean pop music industry’s biggest names today. As part of the powerhouse quartet “BLACKPINK,” the artist holds a massive international following, countless awards, and is each ambassador of some of the world’s leading brands, most notably in fashion.

BLACKPINK is credited for its uncontainable charisma, powerful vocals and rap, and breathtaking visuals. With successive hits under their belt and non-stop rise to recognition, the team is one of the faces of Korean global phenomenon, and it looks as if they have no plans of stopping anytime soon.

Teased in Netflix’s fan-favorite documentary “BLACKPINK: Light Up The Sky,” Rosé’s solo debut has been highly-anticipated by fans for years – intensifying the excitement with a clip of her singing in the recording studio. In January 2021, she announced that the wait was nearly over.

Following Rosé’s reveal that her debut album “R” was nearly ready, fans did not take long to express their support and enthusiasm for her then-upcoming work. The influential soloist records an all-time high in pre-order counts of at least 400,000 times within a short period – declaring Rosé as the K-Pop female soloist with the highest number of pre-ordered releases.

The record marked the start of Rosé’s unending string of well-deserved wins. “R,” which carried the multi-talented artist’s soulful vocals, and songwriting prowess, quickly made its way to the top after its release on March 12, 2021.

Rosé’s first solo album featured chart-topping hits “On the Ground” and “Gone,” both of which have awe-inducing millions of views on popular streaming sites. Due to the former’s empowering beat and the latter’s heartbreaking sound, Rosé strode into the Western and international charts – establishing her presence as a global star and leader of 21st-century music.

Furthering that reputation, Rosé has recently frequented headlines as being a two-time Guinness World Record holder. She is recognized as the first K-Pop soloist to top the Billboard 200 charts and with the most-watched YouTube video within 24 hours of publishing.

Immediately after release, “On the Ground” took off under trending, garnering a whopping 41.6 million views in just one day – a few million more than PSY’s 2012 global hit “Gangnam Style.” Rosé’s track currently holds around 143 million views on the platform, increasing due to continuous daily streams.

Whether as BLACKPINK or as the soloist Rosé, the world is her oyster. As the view count remains on the rise and her songs live rent-free as formidable chart-toppers, fans are on the edges of their seats for R’s future awards and the artist’s plans with her music.
