Olga, people like you are called “cover girls.” It’s hard to believe that you have such extensive professional experience. Please tell us, in more detail, how you started your career in cosmetology.
I came to the USA over 20 years ago. Here, I graduated from high school and college, became a certified aesthetic nurse injector, and started performing Botox injections at 23. My specialties include lip augmentation using the “Russian lips” technique, facial contouring with liquid fillers, chin line enhancement, and aesthetic improvement through dermal fillers. Initially, it was challenging and intimidating. I didn’t know where to start, and there were no training programs or webinars on how to run a beauty business. However, I was passionate about developing my skills in aesthetic medicine and helping women enhance their beauty. I quickly realized the demand for these services when I began accepting my first clients. Before the wave of emigration, few people offered Botox injections using this technique, and American women appreciated the quality of the services. I had clients scheduled a month in advance.
When Did You Open the Salon?
When I realized I couldn’t manage independently due to the growing number of clients, I decided it was time to expand. I found a location, hired staff, and opened my aesthetic clinic, “Notjustlipsnewyork”, in 2020. We rebranded two years later and are now celebrating the salon’s anniversary. I truly appreciate that clients come for my personal brand and the quality of our procedures and results. My specialists are now more successful than I am. The price list for my services is twice as high, but I can confidently vouch for each employee. The salon is becoming increasingly popular, and I plan to create a “lip hub!” in New York!
Why Do People Come to You? What Is Special About You?
We are not a one-stop shop where you can find everything in one place; instead, we are highly specialized and focused on achieving results. I’m wary of salons that offer everything at once—Botox injections, hair extensions, buttock augmentation, laser hair removal, and even tattoos. We are specialists in our field and work exclusively with fillers.
Another distinguishing feature of our salon is the passion each master brings to their work. I train all the nurses I hire for the salon. We follow the same technique or a standardized approach, aiming for consistent results. Our clients don’t face a ‘lottery’ where the outcome depends on which master they see; they will receive exactly what they see on our Instagram.
What Interesting Requests Do Clients Have?
A client often comes in, shows a photo of a celebrity, and says, ‘I want the same.’ We always consider our clients’ requests, considering their wishes, tastes, and unique appearances. Some clients prefer a more natural look, while others favor a bold style reminiscent of Doja Cat or Nicki Minaj. Thanks to my experience and knowledge, we can perform various corrections, such as lip shape, facial contours, and chin enhancement. We are always focused on achieving results and doing everything possible to help our clients be satisfied and eager to return.
Who Mainly Comes to Your Salon? Who Are Your Clients?
Our salon is often visited by women aged 24 to 40 with model-like appearances who want to achieve an Instagram filter effect. Our aesthetic is inspired by icons such as Kylie Jenner and Kim Kardashian, characterized by a bright yet sophisticated luxury style. Much less frequently, we see clients who prefer a more natural, simple, and authentic look. We also have few clients over 50, despite offering a wide range of anti-aging procedures. Celebrities often come to us, which is unsurprising because we are in New York!
How Do You Follow Fashion Trends in the Field of Aesthetic Injection?
I constantly learn from leading doctors in the USA, Europe, and Latin America. I regularly attend international training sessions to stay updated with the latest developments in the field. I am confident that I am familiar with all the techniques and methods of injection. I prioritize continuous education, often dedicating significant resources to advanced training sessions, which ultimately prove valuable.
You Mentioned That You Opened Your School for Teaching Cosmetology
I conduct offline training in small groups, as medical education is required to train on models in the USA. However, the number of participants is gradually increasing, and it will soon evolve into a full-fledged school with a comprehensive educational program. I also offer online training available to participants from various countries around the world. Additionally, I am part of the teaching staff at the American Academy of Aesthetic Medicine (AAFA) and conduct training sessions twice a year.
