Small Steps to the Big Screen – The Story of Diana Gnedina

Actress Diana Gnedina is recognized as one of the emerging talents in the US advertising industry. Her career is rapidly moving forward. Diana spent her childhood in Russia. The girl was always a creative child. From early childhood, she was fond of dancing, acting, attended the modeling school “Image” and at the age of 9 she won her first beauty contest.

At the age of 14, Diana passed a large selection and got into the acting group of a children’s camp. Then the girl seriously decided to connect her life with cinema. Two years later, she entered the theater studio “Turandot” – one of the premier in the south of Russia. Only the premier graduates of the leading theater universities of the country became teachers of the studio.

For several years, the girl studied acting, speech technique and stage movement. In a short time, Gnedina became the star of “Turandot”. She played the main roles in all the leading performances of the studio. “Turandot” annually participated in Russian and international theater festivals and competitions. Diana regularly became their laureate.

The skill of the young actress did not go unnoticed. Already at the age of 16, she became a member of the children’s jury of the “Cinema” nomination of the All-Russian Festival of Visual Arts. The large-scale festival is held annually in the All-Russian children’s camp “Orlyonok”.

Each festival becomes a real cultural event of the country. For several days, films and animations, computer graphics and demonstrations of other forms of visual art created for children and youth are held. The main goal of the competition is to support young talents and develop children’s and youth cinema, which is one of the main educational tools. Over the years, the festival has become a large-scale platform for cultural exchange, popularization of cinema and other types of visual art. The festival brings together producers, scriptwriters and animators of all ages. Famous directors and popular actors conduct master classes and creative meetings with children. Diana was invited to judge this prestigious children’s festival twice.

After school, Diana continued to improve her acting skills and entered acting courses at the M. S. Shchepkin Higher Theatre School at the State Academic Maly Theatre of Russia. And three years later, she dared to conquer not only Russian, but also American audiences.

In 2018, she received her first contract as an advertising actress in the USA. The young and talented girl was in demand in advertising projects and music videos. In just a few years of her career, she managed to work with world-class companies: T.J. Maxx, T-Mobile, Toyota, Dolby, Dave & Buster’s, Audi, Nissan, Lancome, AT&T, HomeGoods, Infiniti, AMEX, Verizon, Delta and many others. Diana was invited to musical projects by The Killers, The Weeknd, etc.

Just a few months after starting her career in the USA, Diana Gnedina received an invitation to join the SAG-AFTRA union (Screen Actors Guild – American Federation of Television and Radio Artists), and this is despite the fact that some actors wait for an invitation for years! The union unites actors, TV presenters, radio presenters, and other workers in the film and entertainment industries in the USA. SAG-AFTRA protects the rights of stage workers, monitors compliance with contract terms, medical and pension provision. Among the union members are famous actors Meryl Streep, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Scarlett Johansson, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence.

Membership in the union allowed Diana to take the next successful step in her career. The actress received the lead role in the national Christmas commercial for T.J. Maxx signed a contract for 2 years.Only a SAG-AFTRA member can act in a national commercial. Although this is not enough. More than 1,000 actresses come to the casting for filming in a national commercial. But only one is chosen! The national commercial is broadcast on network TV channels in several dozen cities and gains huge coverage. Such advertising is usually filmed by world-famous companies. Filming in a national commercial is a real springboard for a career. Diana achieved an impressive milestone by securing a contract that many well-known stars would find noteworthy.

This year, Diana became a member of the Eurasian Art Union. The Union provides ample opportunities for cultural exchange between participants in the global art space and helps its members participate in exhibitions, receive grants and conduct educational events. Diana saw new opportunities in this and did not fail to take advantage of them. 

Gnedina’s career is progressing steadily. What is it: luck or persistence? It’s hard to say. However, it is certain that this beauty knows what else needs to be done to become a little higher professionally.
