Pete Pallares: Championing Autism Awareness and Social Equity Across Borders

In a world where understanding and compassion are the keystones of progress, Pete Pallares M.A BTL2, EJD, stands out as a beacon of hope and innovation. As the Founder and Executive Chairman of the Center for Social Dynamics (CSD) since 2012 and Best Steps Testing since 2016, Pete has dedicated over 28 years to transforming the landscape of autism and developmental disabilities. His work spans research, diagnosis, and treatment, and it crosses cultural and linguistic barriers, making a profound impact on countless lives across the United States and beyond.

Pete’s journey in autism care is defined by his unwavering commitment to inclusivity. His leadership at CSD and Best Steps Testing is marked by a holistic approach, where he directs a team of highly qualified executives to develop and implement tailored treatment programs for children, adolescents, and young adults diagnosed with autism and other developmental disabilities. With a career spanning nearly three decades, Pete has provided intervention programs for a diverse range of patients, from high-functioning individuals to those facing significant challenges. His expertise lies in dissecting and understanding the cultural dynamics within various settings, environments, or individuals, enabling him to create and deliver the most effective and empathetic care possible.

Pete’s influence extends beyond the clinic. He has collaborated closely with leading autism researchers and practitioners, bridging the gap between research and practice. His belief in the power of the voices of individuals with autism and their families drives his approach, ensuring that their experiences and needs are at the forefront of every treatment effort. This philosophy has also led Pete to contribute significantly to major autism research studies, further cementing his role as a thought leader in the field.

Born and raised in Barcelona, Catalunya, Pete’s global perspective is a key element of his work. He divides his time between Barcelona, the Bay Area, and Latin America, working tirelessly to ensure that families affected by autism and other developmental disabilities have access to the services and resources they need. His commitment to social equity is further exemplified by the establishment of the Pedro Pallares Autism Foundation (PPAF) in 2016. Through PPAF, Pete and his dedicated Board of Directors focus on promoting autism awareness, well-being, and social equity across communities. The foundation empowers families to take control of their well-being, self-determination, and independence. Additionally, PPAF plays a vital role in developing countries, helping them understand autism and its proper treatment, and supporting students from under-resourced communities in financing their higher education.

Pete’s impact is not limited to the field of autism. He is a frequent presence on television and radio, having featured in segments focused on autism and parenting on networks such as NBC, Fox News, Telemundo, and Univision. His work with the Pedro Pallares Foundation has been instrumental in advancing global understanding of neurodiverse communities, promoting goodwill and peace by improving health, providing quality education, enhancing communities, and alleviating poverty through life-changing, sustainable projects.

In recognition of his contributions, Pete received the EY Entrepreneur of the Year award for social entrepreneurship in 2018 and was a finalist in 2020 and 2022. He was also named the most outstanding leader in developmental health services in 2020. Under his leadership, CSD and Best Steps Testing have received numerous awards and accolades from organizations and publications such as Inc5000, Financial Times, The Silicon Review, and the San Francisco Business Times, as well as leading healthcare organizations across the United States.

Beyond his professional achievements, Pete is a multifaceted individual. A former professional athlete, musician, and philanthropist, he finds joy in playing music, coaching youth basketball, and immersing himself in books about ancient civilizations. Though born in Barcelona, Spain, Pete now calls Las Vegas, NV, home. He is an avid boat captain, often taking to the water with his loved ones. Family remains at the core of Pete’s life, and he visits his family in Barcelona as often as he can. Excitingly, Pete is soon to embark on his most important journey yet—fatherhood.

Pete Pallares is a man of many talents, but it is his compassion, dedication, and unwavering commitment to making the world a better place for individuals with autism and developmental disabilities that truly sets him apart. As he continues to break down barriers and build bridges across cultures, his legacy as a leader, innovator, and advocate grows ever stronger.
