Meri Goldstein always knew she wanted to pursue a creative path. Growing up in Berlin, Germany, her father’s work as a successful and renowned lighting designer gave her constant exposure to aesthetic innovation. Seeing his work and learning from his blueprints kick-started her passion for design at a very young age.
After briefly studying business management in Berlin, Meri followed her true calling. In 2017, at just 22 years old, she boldly moved to New York City to attend the School of Interior Design. Despite taking a huge risk moving to an unfamiliar city in a country so far from home, Meri never hesitated, knowing she could always return to where she started if something didn’t work out. However, Meri has never wasted time over the fear of failure. She credits her success to her go-getter, determined attitude.
Today, Meri founded Infinite Interiors New York, a boutique interior design firm specializing in transforming blank canvases into elegant, inviting living spaces. Her designs blend her unique approach to design learned from her studies in New York with influences of Germany, specifically drawing inspiration from her semester-long study of Bauhaus. Meri emphasizes modern elegance with just a touch of minimalism. Her affinity towards neutral furniture and organic shapes with soft edges grants her work an inviting, wholesome appeal to cultivate a homey environment. Her designs are then accented by a vibrant pop of color, typically from a piece of wall art or other decorative accents placed throughout the space.
When designing a room, Meri looks at it as a blank white canvas and imagines how she can bring out the best, considering everything. She focuses a lot on examining the layout – what good qualities does this room offer, and what are its missing factors? She tries to figure out if it gets a lot of daylight, if it’s missing daylight, or if it’s an oddly shaped or spacious room. Then, she makes it her goal to elevate those factors by incorporating the right design.
Meri’s work has gained recognition in the design community. She has recently completed a project for a residence on the Upper West Side with breathtaking views of Downtown Manhattan, Billionaires Row, and the Hudson River. One of her ongoing projects is for an incredible three-bedroom, three-bathroom Upper East Side penthouse unit which overlooks Central Park, Downtown, and the East River. It’s an absolute dream project for Meri because it’s getting a complete gut renovation which grants her tons of creative control as a designer. In addition, the unit is super spacious and has a lot of natural lighting, which is always a big plus.
Meri aims to take each client’s vision and turn it into their ideal, live-in reality. She builds each space under the goal that “every client gets their own story,” and she tailors each of her unique designs to write that story. The calming ambiance Meri incorporates into each space is tailored to the New Yorker looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life, as well as turning the cold, blank space of their apartment into a place they can confidently call “home.”
