On Wednesday, April 2nd, philanthropist, author, advocate, TV host, and fashion influencer Jean Shafiroff hosted a celebration with her friends and family in support of the New York Women’s Foundation. Jean Shafiroff is the author of the book “Successful Philanthropy: How To Make a Life By What You Give” and has been a longtime supporter and board member of the NY Women’s Foundation.
Established in 1987, The New York Women’s Foundation has developed a robust philanthropic strategy rooted in gender, racial, and economic justice, positioning it as one of the largest women-led grantmaking organizations in the world.
Recognized as among the first to practice trust-based philanthropy—an approach that has gained broader adoption in recent years—the New York Women’s Foundation takes its role in shaping the future of philanthropy seriously. By reimagining the traditional top-down philanthropic approach, the Foundation prioritizes early engagement and investment in emerging women-led strategies. This approach often helps set the stage for community leaders to flourish. Involving them in decision-making can build agency while directing funds toward their most effective use. Through efforts to break down barriers and facilitate meaningful conversations, The Foundation aims to go beyond the grant to foster continued support and encourage sustained progress. Since its inception, the New York Women’s Foundation has distributed grants totaling more than $130,000,000.
Among those enjoying light bites and sipping on bubbly Aphrodise were Jean Shafiroff, Ana Oliveira, Devika Gopal Agge, Katie Alliger, Analia Alonso, Maribel Alvarez, Flo Anthony, Kinga Augustyn, Mary Baglivo, Helene Banks, Jason Bauch, Rose Billings, Jason Busch, Candace Bushnell, Nicole Caposella, Liliana Cavendish, Lord Cavendish, Fern Clausius, Tuhina De, Victor De Souza, Katlean DeMonchy, Camelia Entekhabifard, Martha Ferry, Maria Fishel, Ken Fishel, Dawne Marie Grannum, Maryann Gris, Susan Gutfreund, Julia Haart, Shannon Hales, Rebeca Herera, David Hochberg, Madeline Holder, Robyn Ince, Joan Jedell, Roy Kean, Kwanghee Kim, Yui Kitamura, Steven Knoble, Erika Kulka, Bianca Lopez, Chantal Lorbeer, Palvi Malik, Ann Martins, Maurizio Mauro, Betsy McCaughley, Ron Miller, CC Minton, Marson Modiglian, Mar Marosse, Dr. Bianca Molina, Sharon Myrie, Ryan Nessing, Nicole Noonan, Janice Perlman, Sue Philips, Karen Phillips, Gloria Pitagorsky, Matt Rich, Nicolette Richards, Dee Rivera, Rosita Romero, Margarita Rosa, Anna Rothschild, Al Roy, Randi Schatz, Ernest Schmatola, Vicki Schnepps, Khadija Siddique, Andrew Simon, Piet Sinthichai, Anastasia Somoza, Kathryn Weill, and Narae Yun.
