Her presence made Harleiboo feel better, and she instinctively knew this was what some called home. Although she experienced some rough days at first, hiding just as she had at the breeder’s, she realized it would all be different within a few weeks. She no longer had to fear or hide, and most wonderfully, she didn’t have to tuck her tail anymore. Her transition was complete. Now, all she does is prance around, wag her tail, and smile. Walks with Ms. A were cherished, even if her short Bichon legs sometimes meant Ms. A had to carry her. Any time spent with Ms. A was good for me, she fondly recalls. Their adventures extended to cherished camping trips surrounded by nature and, as she got older, exciting visits to the beach, which became Ms. A’s favorite spot, and soon, Harleiboo’s too.
Her confidence blossomed with each passing day. Suddenly, she realized something! “I wasn’t shy anymore!” she exclaims. She loved meeting new people, especially when they allowed her to “curl up beside them.” She even found new paw pals, including her cousin Sammy, a much larger Black Lab-Boxer mix whom she initially feared but grew to play with. Beyond her immediate family, Harleiboo found a special purpose in visiting nursing homes, feeling privileged to offer a helping paw and bring smiles to the residents’ faces. These were truly some of my best doggy days! And, to her delight, she did become Queen! as Ms. A affectionately called her Diva Girl.
