Fred Diebold, a two tour Army Vietnam Veteran, is proud to announce the launch of his debut book, filled with gripping short stories that offer readers a glimpse into his adventurous life. Titled simply as “True Life Adventure Series- Part 1,” the book encapsulates Diebold’s every emotion, thought, and struggle as he traverses through unforgettable situations encountered since his departure from Vietnam.

Diebold’s journey as a soldier and later as a civilian unfolds through a series of compelling narratives, each depicting a different aspect of his life. In “Intruder Story,” readers are transported to a 1970s college environment where the protagonist, armed with nothing but a pellet gun, faces unexpected danger. “Memorial Day Story” warms hearts with its depiction and reflection of soldier camaraderie amidst the backdrop of playing football in the Army in America  and for a brief moment in the midst of the Vietnam war.

“36 Hours Out of Vietnam” explores the challenges of readjusting to American life after serving in Vietnam, while “Capsizing Oil Platform” offers an action-packed tale set in the high-stakes world Offshore Oil Drilling and more.

Reflecting on his decision to share his stories, Diebold remarks, “Over the years, I have shared my experiences with others, often met with encouragement to tell the world of these gripping tales and unforgettable experiences that leaves them breathless and wanting to hear more of my real adventures and exploits.

About the Author

Fred Diebold’s journey is a testament to resilience and innovation. As a Vietnam Veteran who served in the Special Forces, Diebold faced immense challenges upon returning home. During a time when anti-war protests were widespread, he pursued and earned a degree in Electrical Engineering, all while grappling with the lingering effects of PTSD. Seeking tranquility and a diversion from his struggles, Diebold turned to SCUBA diving—a passion that not only provided him with solace but also led him to become a certified Dive Instructor.

His expertise in SCUBA diving paved the way for Diebold to venture into inventing diving equipment, demonstrating his knack for engineering and innovation. This inventive streak carried over into his professional life, which was diverse and globe-spanning. Diebold’s career took him around the world, from working in the offshore oil industry—which demanded both technical skill and a robust constitution—to engaging in both domestic and international sales and service. His work required extensive travel, enriching his experience and broadening his perspectives.

Beyond his professional endeavors, Diebold also dedicated himself to various personal passions that shaped his character and lifestyle. He has been actively involved in martial arts, a discipline that likely provided him with both physical and mental fortitude. His inventive nature flourished through numerous projects and patents, further establishing his creativity and problem-solving skills. Additionally, Diebold has been a leader in the tennis community, organizing events and promoting the sport.
