When Danielle M. Alexander graduated college, she took an internship that unexpectedly sparked what would become her lifelong career. Though she initially had plans to pursue a career in public relations, that internship introduced her to event planning, helping her discover an unknown knack for it—and passion.
Of course, Danielle can’t disregard the impact of growing up around relatives with a natural flair for organizing gatherings, such as her great-grandmother, who was a caterer, and a family who regularly would put on gatherings for everything from holidays to birthdays.
She dove into hands-on event coordinator and manager roles, soaking up all she could from seasoned professionals. But when the recession hit and jobs dried up, Danielle decided to strike out on her own. Though it meant financially stressful times initially, her leap of faith paid off. Now, nearly 15 years later, her boutique firm, Posh 5 Productions, works with a diverse range of corporate and nonprofit clients.
For Danielle, event planning intertwines her love of creative expression with connecting to others. She aims to craft guest experiences that engage all five senses and emotions. “I want attendees to not just go to an event but feel that they’ve truly experienced it,” she says.
She and her team approach each client collaboration as an extension of that company’s or organization’s team. Through in-depth consultation, they shape events aligned with the client’s precise goals, vision, and brand identity. Then, they oversee handling all logistics.
While Posh 5 Productions provides services ranging from day-of coordination to full event and show production, customization is key. “As a boutique company, personalization is our signature. We ensure every detail is tailored, from décor to catering and entertainment to keepsake gifts,” Danielle explains.
Over the years, she’s had the chance to work on events worldwide for household names like Disney, the Emmys Governors Galas, and the Sundance Film Festival. Her accomplishments and accolades speak for themselves after 15-plus years in the industry, orchestrating successful events in the United States, Netherlands, Israel, Germany, Canada, and more.
Yet despite her success, Danielle remains grounded in deeper personal definitions beyond professional achievement alone. Enjoying her calling, progressing her aims, and making a positive difference for clients and the community—these matter most to her.
“I define success as doing what I love while moving my goals and impact forward,” she says. “I always aim to lead by example, whether through spreading joy via my events or simple everyday kindnesses.”
When asked what’s next, Danielle said she looks forward to growing Posh 5 Productions and potentially planning projects for personal heroes like Oprah. But currently, she’s focused on elevating how we experience events and making them unforgettable. She smiles, thinking about creating milestone moments for the clients and causes closest to her heart.
Fifteen years in, her passion for events still feels fresh as the next party. There will surely be grander festivities ahead for Danielle and Posh 5 Productions.
