A culinary bastion stands amid Houston’s dynamic Rice Village, symbolizing gastronomic excellence and cultural fusion. Alireza Delavari, a maestro of Persian flavors, turns each dish into a symphony of taste, weaving the rich tapestry of Iran’s culinary heritage with every exquisite ingredient.

Delavari’s mastery of the art of classic authentic Persian cuisine transforms meals into unforgettable journeys, where every bite tells a story of tradition, passion, and the timeless magic of his culinary wizardry. His path from the historic streets of Tehran to the heart of Texas tells the story of culinary success, cultural integration, and entrepreneurial spirit.

From Tehran’s Bustling Bazaars to Houston’s Culinary Map

“Each dish I create is a narrative, echoing my journey and the essence of my homeland,” shares Alireza Delavari, the visionary behind Kasra Persian Grill-Rice Village. His culinary odyssey began in the lively bazaars of Tehran, where, as a young boy, he was mesmerized by the aromatic spices of his grandfather Akbar Afshar’s authentic Persian restaurant. It was in these vibrant surroundings that Delavari’s passion for Persian cuisine was kindled.

Creativity and perseverance characterized Delavari’s path. At only 23, he embarked on an entrepreneurial journey, establishing several eateries in Tehran with only his unwavering self-belief and resilience as capital. From sketching ideas on a notepad to tireless networking and grinding, he built a thriving business from scratch.

A bachelor’s degree in business management empowered Delavari to strategically manage culinary ventures, optimize finances, and cultivate entrepreneurial and leadership skills. “My business management degree equipped me with a diverse skill set beyond culinary expertise. I consistently strive for multidimensional growth,” Delavari says. Combining culinary expertise with solid business acumen, he has perfected the recipe for long-term success in the industry.

His crowning achievement was the launch of Tehran’s Enghelab Country Club’s Food Court in 2009, a 25,000-square-foot gastronomic landmark with a capacity to host 400 patrons. Central to its success is the menu and its extraordinary dining experience. Building on this success, his next venture, Shemroon Café, became Tehran’s most opulent bistro café, accommodating 200 guests. Its menu was a creative blend of classical and international culinary styles.

From timeless classics to avant-garde creations, Shemroon Café offers a gastronomic experience that surpasses traditional boundaries, catering to diverse palates with a touch of sophistication and flair. “Every dish I create is a canvas for ambition, a symphony of flavors composed with relentless passion. In the kitchen, I sculpt dreams into reality, pushing the boundaries of taste to redefine culinary excellence,” Delavari notes.

Delavari, a culinary luminary, has carved a distinguished path marked by numerous milestones in his illustrious career. As the owner of 32 restaurants, he is celebrated for his exceptional culinary prowess, dynamic personality, and entrepreneurial triumphs, leaving an indelible mark on the gastronomic landscape.

I am genuinely fortunate to have had mentors who epitomize excellence in the restaurant industry. Besides the influential guidance of my grandfather and Uncle Morty, invaluable experiences gained through learning from renowned establishments in Iran enriched my culinary journey,” he proudly states.

The fervor for business expansion reshaped Delavari’s course, leading him to relinquish his prosperous enterprises and initiate a new venture in the United States. Motivated by the imperative to broaden his business presence internationally, he embarked on this transformative journey.

A New Culinary Chapter in Houston

“Leaving my homeland was heart-wrenching while adapting to a new country was challenging. Yet, it led me to explore uncharted culinary territories,” Delavari reflects on his move to the United States.

Assuming the executive manager role at 7 Delight restaurant within the Manheim Auction in Houston, Delavari meticulously oversaw its operations. Later, he embarked on another venture, founding the Creed Italian restaurant and bar in Houston, where he assumed vital duties in the meticulous management of its operations.

The inception of Kasra Persian Grill restaurant in Rice Village in Houston, a 5,000-square-foot with the capacity of serving 120 guests, marked a new chapter in Delavari’s culinary journey. He embarked on the ambitious endeavor of demolishing and turning the old structure into a modern culinary masterpiece. The reconstruction was not merely about erecting walls but envisioning a space that harmoniously blends tradition and modernity. Its interiors were adorned with contemporary traditional art, creating an atmosphere that resonates with the rich Iranian culture.

At Kasra Persian Grill in Houston, Delavari artfully marries time-honored traditional Persian flavors with contemporary techniques and business savvy.

Focusing on customer satisfaction over personal preference, he designed the restaurant to appeal to its diverse clientele. Such is evident in its tasteful modern decor, soothing strains of classical music, and inviting ambiance. These elements encourage repeat visits and motivate guests to recount their delightful experiences with others.

“It is this elegant balance of enduring traditions and the vibrant pulse of contemporary tastes that truly characterizes our dining experience,” Delavari notes. “At our restaurant, our commitment extends beyond serving classical Persian food. We curate an immersion transporting our customers back in time, offering a taste of cherished memories and the warmth of home,” Delavari reminisces

Apart from its rapid popularity, the restaurant has blossomed into a cultural diversity sanctuary, with Delavari actively promoting inclusivity by employing young immigrants from different nations.

Bridging Cultures Through Gastronomic Art

As an entrepreneurial restaurant owner and classical chef, innovation is at the heart of my approach to redefine and elevate the culinary industry. I’ve introduced a unique fusion of classical cooking techniques with modern gastronomic trends, creating a dining experience transcending conventional boundaries,” he asserts with pride.

Delavari’s influence on Houston’s food scene is profound. His culinary style is an artistic blend of storytelling and tradition. His signature dishes illustrate his skill in merging Persian culinary traditions with modern flair. “Food is my medium for connecting diverse cultures,” Delavari notes, highlighting his role in cultural diplomacy.

In this mission, Delavari recognizes the significance of cultivating new talents. “My commitment extends beyond my own culinary prowess. I am eager to pass on the knowledge and skills acquired over years of dedication to the aspiring talents following in my footsteps,” he elaborates.

He has taken strides to share his knowledge through workshops and online platforms, contributing to the industry’s growth and fostering a new generation of chefs. He shares, “I take immense pleasure in instilling my fervor for Persian classical cuisine into my mentees, inspiring and empowering them to share their own passion for this rich culinary heritage.”

Beyond the Kitchen: Delavari’s Culinary Diplomacy and Vision for Global Unity

Delavari is more than a chef; he is an ambassador with a vision for global unity through food. He sees Kasra as a beacon of Iranian culture, continuing a centuries-old legacy of spices once transported along the Silk Road, enriching both Western and Eastern cuisines. Delavari aspires for people worldwide to savor these spices’ delightful flavors and aromas and appreciate their health benefits.

Although I’m a classically schooled chef with expertise in classical Persian cooking, my business strategy is to blend tradition with contemporary trends. Customer satisfaction is always our priority. As such, we curate an experience that resonates with the desires of our diverse clientele,” Delavari remarks.

Delavari’s culinary prowess is well-recognized, earning him over twenty accolades from highly skilled chefs in Iran and internationally. This highlights his extensive training, enriched by hands-on experiences and mentorship from culinary masters. He is an exceptionally accomplished chef, possessing unparalleled culinary expertise,  robust business acumen, and strategic brilliance that transcend the kitchen.

Looking ahead, Delavari aims to extend his culinary influence globally, continually driving innovation within the industry. “My dream is to introduce Persian flavors to the world, demonstrating how food can unite us,” he says.

Delavari’s story transcends a chef’s success; it shows the unifying power of food, bridging cultural divides anchored on shared human experiences. Delavari closes, “Cooking is my language, my way of honoring my heritage and connecting with people from all walks of life.” Such captures the essence of his philosophy, where every culinary creation is an opportunity for connection and cultural exchange.
