Evolving Mental Health Care: How Kristina Aran, LMHC, NCC Is Changing the Therapy Landscape

By: Tom White

As conversations around mental health increasingly move to the forefront, Kristina Aran, LMHC, NCC is emerging as a pivotal figure in the field. With a deep commitment to enhancing well-being and transforming how we view mental health, Kristina has established Evolve Integrative Psychotherapy in New York City. More than just a traditional clinic, Evolve represents a holistic approach aimed at supporting mental wellness and empowering individuals in their personal growth journeys. We sat down with Kristina to discuss her journey from licensed psychotherapist to visionary entrepreneur and how she is contributing to the evolution of mental health care.

Q: Kristina, thank you for joining us today. To start, can you tell us a little about your journey and what led you to found Evolve Integrative Psychotherapy?

Kristina Aran: “Thank you for having me. My journey began as a licensed psychotherapist with a deep commitment to helping others. Early on, I realized that mental health care needed to be more than just symptom management. I envisioned a holistic approach where individuals could explore their emotional, mental, and physical well-being in tandem. I also saw a gap in the market for mental health care that was both high-quality and accessible. Combining my background in psychotherapy with my knowledge of digital marketing, I worked to build Evolve Integrative Psychotherapy as a space that could provide personalized, integrative care to people wherever they were in their lives.”

Q: Evolve sounds like a practice that truly cares about its clients. What is your approach to mental health care, and how does it differ from traditional therapy centers?

Kristina Aran: “At Evolve, we aim to move beyond symptom alleviation by focusing on overall mental wellness. Our approach blends traditional therapeutic methods with innovative practices, such as mindfulness, wellness workshops, and Teletherapy. We strive to empower clients to take charge of their mental health by equipping them with tools that can help them work toward fulfilling lives. I wanted to create a space where clients felt seen and heard, where authenticity and connection are prioritized. The goal is not just to help clients through their challenges but to support their growth in ways that align with their individual needs.”

Q: As an entrepreneur, you’ve grown Evolve from a solo practice into a thriving business. What challenges have you faced, and what has helped you succeed?

Kristina Aran: “Scaling the business was definitely challenging, especially when it came to finding a team that shared my vision and values. Building a practice that balances effectiveness and genuine care requires finding the right people who truly care about the work they do. Perseverance was key—I stayed focused on the mission of creating a compassionate, supportive environment for both clients and staff. And when it comes to overcoming challenges, I always remind myself that resilience is at the heart of this work, both for me and for the clients we serve.”

Q: One of your innovations is the integration of Teletherapy. How has this expanded access to mental health care for your clients?

Kristina Aran: “Teletherapy has been an important step forward in expanding accessibility. It allows us to meet our clients where they are—not just emotionally but geographically as well. Mental health care should not be limited by location or availability, so I’m proud to offer digital solutions that make therapy more accessible to those who might otherwise struggle to get support. This has been especially important for people in remote areas or those with busy schedules. It’s all about reducing barriers to care and ensuring that people have access to the support they need when they need it.”

Q: You’re also a mentor and speaker in the mental health field. What’s the most important message you hope to convey to others who are aspiring to enter this profession?

Kristina Aran: “I always tell aspiring professionals to stay true to their purpose and to take care of themselves. This work can be deeply rewarding, but it’s also challenging, so self-care is essential. Additionally, I encourage them to remain open to new ideas. The mental health field is evolving, and we must adapt and innovate to better serve the diverse needs of clients. Most importantly, the well-being of our clients should always be at the heart of every decision we make.”

Q: Evolve has clearly been a success, and your work has been widely recognized, including by Forbes Business Council. What does this recognition mean to you?

Kristina Aran: “I’m truly honored by the recognition, but more than anything, it affirms the importance of the work we’re doing. It’s about normalizing the conversation around mental wellness and showing people that seeking help is an important part of overall health. If this recognition helps bring attention to mental health awareness and encourages others to take care of their mental health, then I consider it a success.”

Q: What’s next for Evolve Integrative Psychotherapy and for you personally?

Kristina Aran: “I’m committed to continuing our mission of normalizing mental health care. My goal is for people to view mental wellness as an essential part of their overall health—something just as routine as a visit to the doctor. At Evolve, we’ll continue to innovate, offering additional resources, programs, and support to meet diverse client needs. Personally, I’m focused on mentoring the next generation of therapists and continuing to challenge myself in both my personal and professional life.”

Q: Finally, if you could offer one piece of advice to someone who’s struggling with their mental health, what would it be?

Kristina Aran: “Don’t be afraid to seek help. You don’t have to face things alone, and reaching out is the first step toward starting your healing process. Healing begins when you feel understood, and there are people out there—like those at Evolve—dedicated to supporting you along the way. You deserve to feel empowered in your mental wellness.”

Kristina’s approach to mental health care, which emphasizes authenticity, compassion, and resilience at Evolve Integrative Psychotherapy, is contributing to the reshaping of the industry. As mental health continues to gain the attention it deserves, Kristina remains a guiding force, showing others how to lead with empathy, innovation, and integrity.
