When Dr. Kamilah Stevenson’s clients with chronic illnesses are able to reverse their conditions naturally and move from being listless to full of life, it seems miraculous. However, she insists the transformation is due entirely to the benefits of research-based holistic health. “I am dedicated to helping people become the best version of themselves by showing them how to improve physical health in tandem with mental, emotional, and spiritual health,” she says.
Dr. Stevenson is a lifelong learner and health coach, passionately exploring how the mind works in relation to the functionality of the physical body. She is a published author, counselor, and certified health coach. Her recent TEDx speech entitled “Thinking Your Way Into Health” covers negative health habits that lead to disease and death and is inspiring thousands of people to look at their health more holistically.
Dr. Kamilah Stevenson explores the relationship between the mind and the physical body
Dr. Stevenson’s career began alongside neurologists researching Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, and other chronic illnesses. As her work progressed, she developed a passion for exploring the intricate link between the mind and the physical body, studying this relationship for over two decades. Today, her educational platforms enable clients to reverse common chronic illnesses, including diabetes and high blood pressure.
“I’m in this industry because I’m passionate about helping people reverse and prevent disease,” Dr. Stevenson says. “When people preserve life and reverse aging, they enhance their daily experiences and time with loved ones. The medical industry manipulates people into solutions that create deep and inescapable pits. That is why so many of us go through life unaware of the opportunities enabling us to access our most healthy selves.”
Being physically healthy involves more than just fitness
Dr. Stevenson is helping people understand that health involves more than physical fitness. “There is a distinct difference between being healthy and being fit,” she clarifies. “Fitness simply relates to the strength, ability, and potential of a person’s outer physical body. On the other hand, their health relates to the overall wellness of their mind, body, and soul.”
According to Dr. Stevenson, a person’s health entails not only physical fitness but also brain function and belief systems. To assess a client’s overall health, she examines many aspects including their spirituality, relationships, mental and emotional stability, psychological processing, eating habits, financial habits, sleep analysis, biological functionality, thinking mechanics, stress levels, behavior patterns, and social interactions.
“The development of soundness, strength, and balance in these areas determines a person’s overall health,” Dr. Stevenson explains. “That is why improving physical health requires a holistic and interconnected approach. I aim to help clients bridge the gap in weak areas and consistently heal and evolve into systematic overall wellness.”
What the health coach enjoys most about her work
Though Dr. Stevenson is a successful health coach today, she first had to address her own emotional and spiritual growth. Years ago, she felt she had nothing to offer and believed no one would listen to her message.
“I struggled with the fear and insecurity created by my own inner thoughts,” Dr. Stevenson recalls. “I felt I was not worthy to help others in this industry. At that time, I was thinking from my lower self, but now I am confident that I have something to offer the world. I’m confident in myself as a coach, and I’m confident that I can help people to attain the outcomes that they desire.”
Today, Dr. Stevenson‘s confidence springs from results, but it began as a tiny seed, and that seed was a desire to add value to people’s lives and give more than she took. “I’m here to serve and to bring people into transformative discoveries,” she says. “I know who I am, and my role as a health coach allows me to grow and evolve into my greatest and most purposeful identity.”
Dr. Stevenson has helped hundreds of chronically ill clients, though she attests the work never gets old. She gets a thrill every time she connects with someone and watches them transition from sickness to wellness.
“There is no other job like mine,” says Dr. Stevenson. “People come to me with almost no energy but they leave vibrant, full of life, and with a desire to live again and fulfill their purpose in the world. I love helping others to walk through all of these stages and processes in life. As a mother, I also love to see how this work has positively affected my children and how they see me in this world.”
Dr. Stevenson has struggled with and learned to overcome her own chronic health issues. She knows from personal experience how emotional, spiritual, and mental unwellness impacts every aspect of life. Her guidance empowers clients to move past the crossroads of life and transition from their lower selves to their higher selves.
