A Houston Native with Deep Community Roots

Constable Nabil Shike is a remarkable individual whose career in law enforcement stands as a testament to his dedication and commitment to public service. Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Shike’s journey began in Alief’s diverse and vibrant community, where he attended Chancellor Elementary, Alief Middle School, and Elsik High School. In 2005, he moved to Fort Bend County and proudly graduated from George Bush High School.

The Path to Law Enforcement

Shike embarked on his law enforcement career in 2014, demonstrating his unwavering dedication to keeping communities safe. He has served in various divisions throughout his tenure, showcasing his versatility and commitment to serving the public. His hard work and exceptional service were recognized in 2017 when he received the prestigious Community Service of the Year Award. He has also earned multiple commendation letters for his outstanding performance that goes above and beyond the call of duty.

Historic Recognition and Achievements

Shike made history when he became the first Muslim American elected as a Constable in the United States, a significant achievement recognized by Texas State Representative Ron Reynolds with H.R. 69 and the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award from President Joe Biden. His dedication to his profession is further underscored by earning a Master Peace Officer’s license from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement and being honored with the esteemed FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Association Trilogy Award for his supervisory, command, and executive accomplishments.

A Strong Educational Foundation

Shike’s dedication to his field extends to his education. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Lamar University and a Juris Doctorate from the Thurgood Marshall School of Law at Texas Southern University, further enhancing his expertise and understanding of the law and criminal justice system.

Promoting Diversity and Inclusion in Law Enforcement

As the Pct 3 Constable, Shike has made significant strides toward fulfilling the promises he made during his 2020 campaign. One of his key pledges was to promote diversity within the command staff, and he has taken concrete steps to achieve this goal. By appointing the first African American Chief Deputy and the first Latina Captain in the department’s history, he has created a more inclusive and representative leadership team, bringing fresh perspectives and experiences to the table and sending a powerful message of inclusivity to the entire community.

Enhancing Department Training and Professionalism

In addition to diversifying the command staff, Shike has focused on improving his department’s overall effectiveness and professionalism. Recognizing the importance of ongoing training and education, he has invested in his team’s development to ensure that staff members are equipped with the latest tools and techniques to serve the community effectively.

Expanding the Reserve Deputy Program

Another significant accomplishment of Shike’s leadership is the expansion of the reserve deputy program. By utilizing reserve deputies, he has not only increased the department’s manpower but also achieved substantial cost savings for taxpayers. This strategic decision reflects his commitment to responsible financial management and maximizing resources for the community’s benefit.

Establishing a 24-Hour Police Agency

Shike has delivered on his promise to establish the Pct 3 Constable’s Office as a 24-hour police agency. By expanding proactive patrols and implementing community-based policing strategies, he has worked to create a safer and more secure environment for Fort Bend County residents. His efforts to increase police presence and engagement have strengthened the connection between law enforcement and the community, fostering trust and collaboration in the fight against crime.

A Commitment to Community Service

Shike has consistently shown his dedication to the welfare of Pct 3 residents through various community engagement initiatives. He actively participates in and organizes charitable events aimed at supporting those in need, including food drives, Turkey drives, Christmas toy drives, and back-to-school events. His efforts help alleviate hardships and provide essential resources to community members.

Bringing the Community Together

Recognizing the importance of unity, Shike has also hosted community-friendly events that bring people together. The Annual Law Enforcement Memorial Day Bash serves as a tribute to fallen officers while strengthening the bond between law enforcement and the community. The Halloween Trunk or Treat event offers a safe and enjoyable environment for families, and his annual roses for seniors on Valentine’s Day spread love and appreciation to the elderly.

Raising Awareness and Fighting Domestic Violence

One notable event organized by Shike is the annual “Hoop to Fight Domestic Violence,” which not only raises awareness about domestic violence but also funds support for victims. By educating families and promoting awareness, he plays an active role in addressing this critical issue and providing resources for those affected.

Looking Ahead: A Strong Record for Re-Election

As Shike seeks re-election for his second term, he continues to demonstrate a strong commitment to his constituents. His record of delivering on promises, promoting diversity, improving training, expanding cost-effective programs, and enhancing community-based policing has earned him the respect and support of many citizens. Through his dedication and leadership, he has made significant contributions to Fort Bend County Pct 3 over the past three years and looks forward to continuing his service for another four years, with a focus on building trust and legitimacy in the community.
