Andre Alves, known has etched his mark as an author, playwright, fiction writer, screenwriter, and producer. Hailing from the vibrant city of Fortaleza, Brazil, his journey has taken him across continents, shaping his unique perspective that he weaves into his narratives.

Upon his arrival in the United States in 1985, Alves embarked on an academic journey that melded his passions. He delved into the world of political science with a focus on international relations and hospitality management at New York University. Little did the world know that this fusion of interests would lay the foundation for his multifaceted career. 

One of Alves’ earliest contributions was in the realm of music, where he played an instrumental role in propelling Brazilian music into the heart of the New York club scene. He helped establish Brazilian music as a major force in New York. Alves produced concerts in such venues as Carnegie Hall, Avery Fisher Hall, The Beacon Theater and Central Park Stage, presenting renowned artists like, Caetano Veloso, João Gilberto, Djavan, Marisa Monte. Alves created, produced and directed the musical “Brazil Night on Mondays” at the legendary Café Wha? – the show made headlines in the New York Times and was sold out for more than five years.

Alves assisted Michael Jackson and his team acting as a personal liason between MJJ Productions and Brazil during the filming of the video “They Don’t Care About Us” shot in Rio and Salvador, directed by Spike Lee.

His influence resonated not only through the rhythms but also hinted at his innate ability to craft narratives that evoke emotions and transcend cultural boundaries.

However, it was the world of literature where Alves truly left his mark. His debut novel, “Unbound,” takes readers on a captivating journey through the annals of history, exploring the Inquisition in Portugal. The pages come alive with vivid descriptions and intricate storytelling that immerses readers in a gripping tale. Not content with merely words on paper, Alves transformed “Unbound” into a screenplay titled “Branca,” amplifying the story’s potential to reach a broader audience.

The creative reservoir within Alves seems boundless, as evidenced by his five other original screenplays. “The Abode” delves into the supernatural and horror, “Unfelt” unravels a psychological thriller, and “Interior Hallway Night” keeps hearts racing as a thrilling narrative unfolds. His versatility shines through in “Beat Dancing,” a dark comedy, and “Contact Point: Leah Smets,” an action-packed thriller that leaves audiences on the edge of their seats.

Currently, Alves has his hands full with an ambitious agenda. A two-act play, “Branca,” is in the works, an artistic endeavor to bring his novel “Unbound” to life on stage. Beyond this, he is crafting a captivating TV series and nurturing two screenplays: “The Mark of Cain,” a reimagining of the book of Genesis, and “The Priest,” a crime drama that promises intrigue and suspense.
