Leslie A. Jones, also known as Mister Jones, is an incredible example of versatility and artistic genius; his story, from Philly’s historic streets to the Los Angeles landscape, is inspiring. Jones had been a U.S. Army serviceman before, which provided him with the much-needed discipline and passion needed in his career. Thus, he was able to make an easy transition from military life into acting and music very quickly.

The Wilshire Theater Arts Academy, where Jones spent his formative years, proved to be the perfect environment for him as he began discovering and developing talents in theater and film. With the help of experienced coaches, he perfected his work and developed a profound understanding of this art as preparation for future victories. Leslie has always been grateful for his experience in the academy. He stated, ‘Wilshire Theater of Arts was a great vehicle to see if I liked what I was about to embark on. It taught me the language and steered me in the right direction to pursue theater and film. The instructors there were seasoned film and T.V. actors.’

Jones’s breakthrough was his first appearance in “Indigo Blues” – a milestone not only because it demonstrated the superiority of this actor but also because it presented him as an outstanding saxophonist and composer. He highlighted how Indigo Blues positively influenced his journey in the entertainment industry. ‘It was the apex of my belief that I could do it! “Be one of those actors on T.V. and in film.” I worked with working actors on stage, and the most rewarding was working under the direction of Michelle Gossett. She not only directed Indigo Blues, but she was a great acting coach,’ shared Jones when asked about his experience in the entertainment journey.

The awards he received, including the Los Angeles Weekly Award and Drama-Logue Award for Best Original Music, proved his multidimensional talent that paved the way to an incredibly productive career. His performance in “Washington Square Moves” won him the NAACP Award for Best Supporting Actor of 1993, which made his way to television and opened doors for various memorable roles. In particular, his representation of the intimidating Ronnie in the legendary series “Beverly Hills 90210” left a lasting impression on viewers and established him as an actor capable of taking different roles and acing them.

Outside of the screen, Jones’s musical endeavors fascinated audiences in Los Angeles as he mesmerized crowds with his soulful melodies on instruments such as saxophone, flute and percussion. His work with bands such as The Answer and Right-Hand Rule Band and his collaborations with George Gray’s The Gees only reaffirm that he is a great master of art and versatility.

The next chapter in Jones’s career is his residency at Disneyland’s California Adventure with The Midnight Hour band, where he continues to entertain people regardless of age.

Moreover, his unique and captivating way of delivering music via iTunes, Spotify, and the app named L.J. Presents shows that he is ready to adopt new technologies for a broader audience. In the world of cinema, Jones’s cinematic productions like “Get Nipsey” and “Café in the Void” have won critical acclaim on festival circuits that attest to his ability as an actor-producer. His latest foray into the western series “Dark Country” proves his passion to thrive in different genres, overcoming obstacles with resourcefulness and grit.

In addition, Jones’s philanthropic activities reveal his dedication to giving back to society and supporting upcoming artists. He aims to empower emerging talents to polish their creative potential and follow their dreams by participating in charity projects and promoting arts education programs. Jones also promotes indie music through L.J. Presents – a 24-hour radio app. As a stage for new artists, it encourages creativity and plurality in the music field, thus establishing his legacy as an activist of artistic freedom.
