Vazgen Gevorkyan was born in the summer of 1971 in Oshakan, a small settlement in northern Armenia. Gevorkyan’s contributions to the financial sector align with broader industry shifts toward modernization. His leadership played a role in redefining service delivery at one of the country’s pioneering private banks, which rebranded as Evocabank in 2017.

Rather than opting for superficial technological upgrades, the leadership team chose to implement a comprehensive transformation that emphasized speed, accessibility, and simplicity. Guided by a human-centric philosophy, the bank adopted a digital-first model designed to deliver seamless services via mobile and online channels—reducing the need for in-person visits while maintaining personal connection.

A key initiative was the launch of the EvocaTouch mobile platform, which served as a self-contained digital payment environment. Its ability to process transactions across multiple devices reflected the realities of modern workflows—allowing a payment to be initiated on one device and approved on another, without branch involvement.

Beyond the platform itself, the bank integrated AI tools, hosted fintech hackathons, expanded online lending capabilities, and rolled out digital solutions such as mobile POS terminals and commission-free traffic fine payments. While Mr. Gevorkyan has emphasized that these efforts were collaborative and aligned with global trends, the results were noteworthy in setting new regional standards in banking innovation.

The transformation also placed a focus on broader access. Internship programs helped prepare university students for careers in finance, while inclusive lending efforts worked to close opportunity gaps—especially for women entrepreneurs. In 2007, Vazgen Gevorkyan entered the hospitality sector by developing a rural site into a contemporary resort. The project—LES Art Resort—reflected his belief that atmosphere and aesthetic identity are integral to business success. The resort quickly earned industry recognition for its environmental awareness and modern amenities.

What set the resort apart was not just its infrastructure, but its organizational model. Staff were trained through the Typsy platform, a global hospitality learning system, and operations were managed using Agile methodology—a structure commonly associated with software development. Services were regularly refined based on guest feedback, and teams operated in cross-functional units to ensure responsiveness and adaptability.

By applying Agile principles—such as iterative improvement, client-centric focus, and adaptive planning—to the hospitality context, the resort adapted to industry demands, consistently exceeding guest expectations.

During his tenure, Mr. Gevorkyan also supported charitable initiatives in areas such as orphan care, public health, and urban beautification. When he sold his stake in 2023, he left behind a fully operational, high-performing resort with advanced infrastructure and a dynamic management framework.

Gevorkyan Vazgen: Territorial Development and Sustainability

Since 2022, Vazgen Gevorkyan has taken on an advisory role in projects focused on long-term territorial development. His expertise has supported initiatives through Green Rock Management, a company dedicated to revitalizing regions via infrastructure enhancement, public space design, and sustainable transportation.

He served as an informal advisor to the inaugural Regional Tourism Conference held in 2024 at Monte Melkonian College, where themes included business tourism, national branding, and sustainable development. At the event, Mr. Gevorkyan emphasized environmental stewardship and the importance of creating a tourism identity that is both authentic and globally relevant.

His contributions go beyond strategy. Projects under his advisement have included the restoration of architectural landmarks, the development of urban parks, the construction of modern youth sports facilities, and the deployment of eco-conscious taxi services. His approach, which balances functionality with aesthetic quality, aims to revitalize towns and make them more appealing to residents and visitors alike.

Mr. Gevorkyan also supports select foundation-driven programs that focus on cultural revitalization and infrastructure enhancement. These efforts are designed to create environments that encourage active living and shift public mindsets—approaches conceived as developmental, rather than purely charitable.

Activities Abroad

In 2022, Mr. Gevorkyan began advising on a real estate development project in the United States, focused on mixed-use spaces that blend residential and commercial elements. His fluency in English and global business experience enabled this international engagement, where he has contributed to the project’s strategic direction and conceptual alignment.
