There is no secret recipe for success. It derives from a blend of grit, hard work, and other ingredients that are unique to the individual. Nevertheless, there are several shared traits among industry-leading entrepreneurs: A purpose-driven mission, unwavering persistence, and a commitment to valuing people over profits.

We had the privilege of conversing with accomplished entrepreneurs to uncover the key factors that have contributed to their remarkable success in the last year. Their invaluable insights also offer a roadmap for entrepreneurs striving to excel in their respective fields.

Welcome to our list of Top Entrepreneurs to Watch Out For in 2023 and beyond.

1. Melanie Boehm Powers

Melanie Boehm Powers, Goodberlet Home Services, shared with us, “The number one thing that helped us succeed in 2023 was our people. We have an extremely dedicated staff that is willing and able to wear many hats and pivot when necessary.” Goodberlet Home Services was founded in 1982 and began with one mission: To help their clients live the good life. Fast forward years later, and they have fulfilled this mission for thousands of homeowners by providing trusted HVAC, plumbing, and electrical services throughout the states of Illinois and Indiana.

2. Andie Monet

Business optimization expert, best-selling author, and international speaker Andie Monet shared with us, “Gratitude for not only your wins but also your losses is critical to success. I like to remind myself that no matter what is happening, things can ALWAYS get worse. Here’s a personal example: I was homeless at 16 years old because my mother abandoned me. I finished high school, started college, and launched my first business at 16 because I refused to let ‘life’ get in my way. Stay positive and expect success, and it will come to you.” Monet helps business owners gain the clarity to make strategic business and financial decisions, helping them maximize their processes to double or triple profits without adding costs or hours to the day.

3. Rita Paiewonsky

Rita Paiewonsky, CEO and Founder of the Institute of Love and Wisdom and CO-Founder of Portillo By The Sea, shared with us, “What helped me succeed in 2023 was developing ‘Painless Dating,’ a program through which I teach busy singles how to date painlessly, and launching my book, ‘How To Find Your Soulmate,’ available in both English and Spanish. We also just opened our luxurious beachfront villas in the Dominican Republic, and are offering retreats for both couples and singles at one of the top eight beaches in the world.” The Institute of Love and Wisdom (ILW) provides a designated space for learning to date painlessly, mindfully, and efficiently. 4. Dr Bryan Henry

Dr Bryan Henry, President of Peter MD, shared with us, “The biggest driving force behind my success is undoubtedly my family. As head of the household, it’s my responsibility to create the best possible environment for our children to flourish. This sense of duty was instilled in me from childhood, as I observed my father navigating the role of patriarch within our expansive family. I’m truly thankful to find myself in this position.” Peter MD is the largest online men’s health clinic in North America with a mission to make men’s health more personalized and accessible while upholding a reputation built on unmatched pricing and exceptional customer service.

5. Daniel Tesfay

Daniel Tesfay, Owner and Executive Chef at Belly Bistro, shared with us, “What helped me succeed in 2023 was constantly challenging my limits and abilities. I took a risk by moving to a completely different town to see how long it would take me to get known for my food and service. I chose a small town because everything is known through word of mouth here. It could’ve gone terribly or amazing. Here I am, with pure pride holding my chin high because it’s been amazing.” Belly Bistro is a pop-up restaurant with a mission to create a place to connect with friends and delight in unique comfort dishes, like jerk chicken wings stuffed with mac and cheese.
