Kenzo Sobrie’s story in e-commerce is both inspiring and multifaceted. As the founder of KZ International, an FMCG distribution business based in Orange County, California, he has seen significant growth through a combination of strategic planning and persistence. His journey includes successes and challenges that have shaped his approach, offering valuable lessons along the way.
Humble Beginnings and Early Hustle
Kenzo’s entrepreneurial spark ignited at a young age. Growing up in a modest household, he explored various ways to make extra money, from selling Pokémon cards in elementary school to making custom t-shirts in middle school.
Kenzo entered the e-commerce world at a young age by taking a drop-shipping course, which he paid for using savings from summer construction jobs. Although his initial forays into drop-shipping on platforms like eBay were less than profitable, they provided a critical foundation for his future ventures.
The Pivot to Amazon FBA
Kenzo’s progress came when he shifted from drop-shipping to the wholesale FBA model on Amazon. His strategy involved buying established, high-demand products in bulk at discounted prices and reselling them at a higher price. This straightforward approach has remained effective and scalable in the digital marketplace.

Kenzo’s early success came from an investment in Sharpie markers, which helped validate his business model. This experience led to further investments in a variety of products, including ChapStick, vegan soups, and electronics. Over time, his company grew and expanded, with operations in multiple U.S. locations.
Scaling to Significant Growth
Kenzo’s ability to scale KZ International can be attributed to his disciplined approach to sourcing and logistics. By leveraging Amazon’s infrastructure, he minimized overhead costs associated with warehousing, shipping, and customer service. His business sent hundreds of pallets weekly to Amazon fulfilment centers, ensuring a steady stream of inventory to meet consumer demand.

To streamline operations and maintain quality control, Kenzo established a network of warehouses that allowed him to oversee the entire process, from sourcing to distribution. He even developed proprietary methods for identifying profitable products, using advanced software to analyze sales data and reduce risks.
Navigating Challenges and Legal Battles
Kenzo’s journey has included its share of challenges. In 2022, his business faced a difficult situation when law enforcement raided his warehouse over stolen merchandise supplied by fraudulent vendors, resulting in significant losses. To keep his business afloat, Kenzo was forced to sell personal assets. As part of addressing the issue, he has pursued legal action against the suppliers involved.
“I was depressed for months,” Kenzo revealed during a podcast interview. “It was right before Christmas, and I didn’t know what would happen.” Determined to overcome the setback, he focused on rebuilding and restructuring his operations with tighter supply chain controls to ensure such issues would not recur.
Resilience and Reinvention
Kenzo’s ability to navigate challenges highlights his resilience and strategic approach. Despite setbacks, he continued to see success in other ventures in 2023. By focusing on his Miami operations and refining his processes, Kenzo has positioned KZ International for future growth and stability.

In addition to his e-commerce ventures, Kenzo has started mentoring aspiring entrepreneurs, offering guidance on building an Amazon business. His story is particularly relatable for young business owners, showing that age and limited resources don’t have to be obstacles to success.
The Future of KZ International
Looking ahead, Kenzo plans to expand his operations by establishing warehouses in more states, aiming to improve his logistical reach. He has also considered the possibility of selling the company if the right opportunity arises.
Kenzo’s story reflects the importance of perseverance and adaptability in entrepreneurship. From his early ventures to growing his business, he demonstrates a commitment to innovation and determination. As he continues to expand in the e-commerce space, Kenzo serves as an example for aspiring entrepreneurs.
