Elevating Creative Storytelling In Dallas And Beyond

Being able to tell a story creatively is one thing, but being able to tell a story in a way that elevates your business is a whole new ball game. Jodi-Kay Edwards, the co-founder behind an award-winning media and marketing firm in Dallas,Texas, has been in the playing field since 2017 helping celebrity personal brands and enterprises get seen and get paid. She is definitely in it to win it and doesn’t plan on slowing down anytime soon.

After competing in the world’s largest TV reality show for entrepreneurs earlier this year, Jodi-Kay Edwards and her business partner Ajia Jackson have been unstoppable. Edwards and Jackson are the founders of Behind The Scenes Agency, a boutique marketing firm, which MTV’s Wes Bergmann awarded as the number one business startup in season five of “The Blox.”

“We won first place out of 10,000 startups that applied,” shares Edwards, who co-founded the agency in July 2021. Behind The Scenes specializes in brand strategy, digital marketing, social media, video production, and more, but what differentiates them from other firms is the level of creativity and structure that they bring to the table to help their clients step out of the invisible and become influential.

“We’re really doing everything we do for ourselves for other people,” says Edwards, who adds that she herself knows what it feels like to be invisible. “For the longest time I was really unhappy, and it forced me to be in this low vibrational place where nothing was happening for me but I also wasn’t doing anything for myself,” she shares.

Upon realizing that she had much more to offer the world than what she led herself to believe, Edwards got into what she calls a “success flow,” and not only changed her life around, but made it her mission to help others do the same and uses it as the core strategy inside Behind The Scenes Agency to generate impressions and income for their clients.

“I decided to do everything within my power to be someone different, so that I can do something different and have something different,” she shares.  Be, Do, Have is the mindset she wants for her clients, herself and her team. Fast forward to today, Edwards and Jackson have helped their clients generate over 6 million impressions online, in addition to playing an instrumental role in bringing their creative visions to life. They have curated content for artists like Trina, Coi Leray and Teyana Taylor as well as various tv and online personalities.

“A lot of creatives are focused or stuck in creative hustle mode and when you’re stuck in that mode of your business for too long it starts to lack structure and purpose. We come in to offer structure, systems and sales to the creative brain so that no matter what the following we can implement a process to monetize the following,” says Edwards.

The truth is, creative storytelling in the marketing industry is essential for building brand awareness, but creativity doesn’t happen overnight, and rarely does it happen all alone. It requires marketers to be innovative, adaptable, and strategic in their approach to crafting narratives that resonate with their target audiences. As an entrepreneur, juggling all of these responsibilities can be hard, which is why it’s so important to work with a team that you can trust.

“A lot of agencies get a bad rep because they just become another number. But for us, you’re family,” says Edwards. “We’re really only working with two to three people a year because the whole team is coming in like a fractional CMO to help you break down your brand story into digital marketing pieces, whether it’s for LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok or Facebook.”

The best part is, the team at Behind The Scenes will come to you, bringing their production to wherever you are. “It’s a ‘done for you’ format, where we will do the photo shoot, and create the video content, edit the footage, and post it for you. We travel to our clients so they can feel comfortable in an environment that is best for their personal brand and creative flow,” she says.

“My business partner and I come from different backgrounds, but one thing we both have in common is being the black sheep in our family and wanting to be the first to reset the trajectory of where we see our lives going. It’s this idea of stepping out on faith and knowing that anything is possible,” she says.
