Dana Lekus: Beauty as a Calling, Science, and Journey

Miss Peru USA 2025 Final. Dana Lekus – official beauty sponsor of the event and head of the volunteer team of beauty experts responsible for the makeup and hairstyling of the pageant finalists.

Dana Lekus’s path into the beauty industry was no coincidence — she was born into a creative family where aesthetics, style, and attention to detail were part of everyday life. Her mother is a designer, her father an architect, and since childhood, Dana was surrounded by sketches, color palettes, inspiring projects, and conversations about the harmony of form and function. This environment instilled in her a deep love for beauty and taught her to see elegance in the details.

Today, Dana Lekus has over 10 years of experience. She is an international makeup artist, hairstylist, cosmetic product technologist, and beauty director for major productions. Her work goes far beyond surface appearance — she develops advanced formulations as a technologist for a well-known cosmetic brand, studies skin reactions, and implements innovations in brow and skincare products.

Dana led a volunteer glam team as the official beauty sponsor for high-profile events like Miss & Mister Supranational USA 2025 and Miss Peru USA 2025. She provided full backstage support and creative image direction for the contestants, uniting talented makeup artists, hairstylists, photographers, and models under the Dana Lekus Beauty Team.

Her journey was not without doubts — both internal and external. Many people didn’t take her desire to work in the beauty industry seriously, especially considering her academic background as a master-level engineer in power systems. Dana had to constantly prove that beauty isn’t just a “hobby,” but a serious profession requiring deep knowledge, artistic taste, and ongoing development.

Naturally, there were moments when she wanted to give up. Like many creatives, Dana went through periods when she felt completely drained. Especially early on — when you give everything you have but don’t see results quickly. When you work endlessly, pour your heart into every project, but stay behind the scenes. In those moments, she questioned herself: Should I stop? Choose a safer, more predictable path?

But each time she was on the verge of quitting, something pulled her back — a client’s sincere smile, a model’s glowing reflection in the mirror, or a thank-you letter from a student she had helped believe in herself. These moments reminded Dana that her work is not just about makeup — it’s transformation, energy, support, and deep beauty.

What kept her going was her love for the craft, her belief in her purpose, and her desire to grow. These values helped Dana reach new heights in the industry: she became a trainer for successful cosmetic brands, a product development technologist, founder of her own beauty studio, and a recognized industry leader. In 2025, she served as beauty director for major fashion shows, including Florida Men’s Fashion Week, Orlando International Fashion Week, Beverly Hills Fashion Week, and Fort Lauderdale Swim Week.

Today, Dana knows for certain: challenges are temporary, but results born of love and consistency are everlasting.

Dana Lekus’s 3 Key Principles for Success in the Beauty Industry

Professionalism and Lifelong Learning

The beauty world evolves rapidly — trends, products, techniques. A successful artist recognizes the importance of continuous learning: refining their skills, broadening their perspectives, and staying adaptable. True mastery is a combination of experience, knowledge, and a desire for growth.

Continuous learning is vital in a fast-paced industry, allowing artists to stay relevant and refine their skills.

Empathy and a Human-Centered Approach

Beauty isn’t just about appearance — it’s also about how people feel. A great artist listens, understands the client’s emotions, and creates a safe and uplifting atmosphere. People return not just for the services, but for the experience they leave with.

Empathy plays a key role in client retention, as people seek not only services but the positive experiences they have.

Responsibility and Reputation

Success is built on consistency: punctuality, cleanliness, honesty, respect, and accountability. Reputation is earned over time, and every project contributes to an expert’s professional image. Reliability and ethics form the foundation for long-term success.

Building a reputation takes time, and a strong work ethic plays a crucial role in sustainable success.
