Wisecrackin’ Paves The Way For Virtual Game Comedy Shows

Wisecrackin’ Paves The Way For Virtual Game Comedy Shows

People usually associate live stand-up comedy shows with bars. Inside, there are several cozy seats, and the microphone is dead center on the stage with the light shining down on the comedian. The COVID-19 pandemic, however, has inspired comedians nationwide to develop new ways of adapting to the new normal.

With the people in their homes due to the coronavirus pandemic, Wisecrackin’ presents an online alternative for people to still laugh their hearts out in a live comedy show. It invites eight comedians who go head to head in a live virtual comedy game show. Each comedian participant is tasked to write a funny punchline to a prompt provided by Wisecrackin’ writers, and after giving out their answers, the audience votes and chooses the winner.

The online comedy game show is made possible by various famous and accessible online streaming applications. Through their simultaneous live streaming of the comedy game via Facebook, Youtube, Periscope, and Twitch, the audience members can interact with all the comedians in real-time while the latter are drafting their answers. The show has already invited several comedians, such as Anna Lucero, Marz Timms, Soli Santos, Mia McCoullough, Sommer Austin, Mark Bratton, and many more. They have all spread smiles through a virtual platform.

Quiplash, one of jackbox.tv’s online board games, provides an avenue for Wisecrackin’ writers to present their own prompts for the live video comedy game. It also provides the platform for the audience members to vote without being biased toward another comedian. After all, the authors of each response are only shown after all the votes are cast. On another note, the audience members can also abstain if they think the punchlines are not funny.

As the pioneer virtual interactive comedy game show, Wisecrackin’ is reshaping the comic industry. Comedians, through cyberspace, can show their natural talent in being humorous while thinking on their feet as to what would make the crowd laugh. It levels up the humor requirement for comedians given that all viewers can talk live through chat, and they also have the voting power for crowning a funny victor.

Live comedy shows are a great way to provide a light-hearted atmosphere to be with loved ones and friends. Awkwardness can be removed thanks to the informal nature of comedy, and healthy relationships can be built for those that have similar tastes in humor. With online platforms, viewers can stream these comedy shows in their own homes. And unlike Zoom Improv and Stand Up comedy shows, interactive and live comedy game shows deliver the punchlines while making a direct connection with the audience.

While laughter may not be the best medicine, it presents numerous physical and mental benefits with every tearful laugh. Comedy shows maximize the benefits of laughing. During these trying times, an online and accessible live comedy show is needed to cope with the persisting global crisis.
