Adversities are an inescapable part of life that create obstacles and hurdles on people’s road to success and growth. Many people succumb to challenges and fall into the abyss of depression and despair because they cannot cope with the hardships. However, others utilize various approaches and strategies to overcome adversity through perseverance, dedication, commitment, and hard work. Perseverance is the key to overcoming any difficulty or problem in life because it involves endurance and persistence regardless of the circumstances. People must find a medium to disrupt and escape the endless cycle of frustration and desperation to overcome adversities. The primary element of recovering from setbacks and challenges is consistency and perseverance. However, many people lack the determination and commitment required for endurance.

Pursuing a passion is one of the most prominent strategies for overcoming adversities and the perfect remedy for preventing depression and negativity stemming from failures and setbacks. People have various hobbies that help them through difficult times, but transforming a hobby into a passion is usually tricky due to a lack of interest or required skill. However, an inherent talent or desire to pursue an activity relentlessly without faltering differentiates a passion from a hobby or interest.

Cinnamon Cooney, AKA the Art Sherpa, found her calling in painting from a young age due to her love for art and watching her mother, Ginger Cook, paint beautiful artworks in the basement of their Colorado home. Born in Aspen, Colorado, on July 1, 1970, Cooney started drawing and painting at a young age and received much praise from her mother, family members, relatives, and friends for her drawings as a child. Her creative spirit and interest in art gradually became a passion. Because she kept drawing and producing artwork from a very young age, Cooney is a talented artist who utilized consistency and hard work to transform her skills as an artist into a passion. Cooney discovered that she had a passion for teaching others how to paint and quickly became the Art Sherpa. 

Cinnamon Cooney faced several challenges but persevered by using her art and creativity. She faced bullying in school. Cooney experienced physical and mental torment from her bullies but used her art to escape the trauma and overcome her challenges. She worked persistently and used her painting to escape life’s worries and apprehensions. She transferred her feelings, pain, and emotions into her paintings. She transformed her art into a voice that could speak up on her behalf against mental and physical suffering. The art defended Cooney through her life’s challenges and converted her pain and suffering into meaningful art. As The Art Sherpa, she learned to use art to overcome setbacks and took on a mission to teach others how to use art and creativity to defeat challenges in their lives

Sherpas take and guide mountaineers and climbing expeditions through the rough and challenging mountainous paths to the summit extraordinary skills, and experience. Cinnamon Cooney used the same metaphor for introducing herself before every class that she was their art sherpa who would take them through painting as a sherpa who takes expeditions up mountains one step at a time. Cooney is an acrylic painter who teaches artwork and painting to people all over the world while offering tips, guidance, and illustration guidelines through her YouTube channel under the Art Sherpa name. The YouTube channel has more than 70 million views and 700,000 subscribers due to Cooney’s unique approach to art teaching.

Painting and art offered solace and comfort to Cinnamon Cooney throughout turbulent times because she used her art to relieve stress and recover from setbacks. She persevered during the most challenging times in her life by relying on her skills as an artist. The perseverance and constant effort to improve her art led Cooney to accomplish several prominent feats and receive multiple accolades. Pursuing one’s passion is a common approach to overcoming life’s challenges because it offers a positive outlook and keeps people occupied with their favorite activities.
