Two internationally acclaimed Japanese artists YOSHIKI and Yoshitomo Nara, both named in TIME magazine’s 2025 list of “100 Most Influential People in the World”, have announced their global collaboration “Y by YOSHIKI × Yoshitomo Nara Collaboration Wine.”
Yoshitomo Nara, who is one of the few Japanese visual artists to be selected for TIME100, and YOSHIKI, the first Japanese musician to be selected, have joined forces for this unprecedented project, attracting worldwide attention.
Based in Napa Valley, “Y by YOSHIKI” has been producing wines in Japan and internationally since 2009. Nara, whose globally popular work is housed in world-renowned museums including the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York and the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao, will design the bottle for the new wine project.
Nara, who has always had a love for punk rock, met YOSHIKI through mutual acquaintances and the partnership blossomed from there. It wasn’t long before the duo discovered their shared artistic sensibilities and values as well as their mutual love of wine.
“I have known of YOSHIKI’s success in the music world for some time and have always admired him as an exceptional person,” stated Nara. “He expresses himself so honestly that I felt he is someone I can trust. Above all, YOSHIKI’s wines are truly delicious, and knowing that my artwork will be on the label made me extremely excited, which led to the decision to participate in this collaboration. Having a small illustration on not only the label but the cap is a unique attribute that is not often seen in wines. There was a great deal of pressure on how much artistic value I could add to an already perfected taste. We spent a lot of time discussing the project, so I am happy to know that it is about to be released to the world.”
“Since the time I had the pleasure of meeting Nara, I never imagined that we would be able to collaborate to this extent,” stated YOSHIKI. “I am overwhelmed with emotion to be able to work on something like this with him, an artist whom I respect. It feels like a dream, and I am confident that this will become a major project. All the wines released in this collaboration are masterpieces of Y by YOSHIKI. I know you will enjoy them.”
Fourth generation winemaker Robert Mondavi Jr., YOSHIKI’s partner in Y by YOSHIKI, has also announced the release of three new vintages from the “Y by YOSHIKI California” series: Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Rosé. The new offerings will be released on Wednesday, September 24th, 2025.
YOSHIKI also announced the launch of a new wine subscription service, “Y by YOSHIKI Members Club,” where members can consistently enjoy “Y by YOSHIKI” wines for a fixed price. Established to meet growing demand and with a strong passion to make the brand more accessible, the service will be offered in two tiers: the “Smart Casual Club” for a wide range of consumers, and the “Masterpiece Club” which will offer exclusive value. The service and its dedicated app are scheduled to launch on Tuesday, September 30th, 2025 with pre-registration available now and first shipments made in mid-November.
The “Smart Casual Club” offers an opportunity to enjoy YOSHIKI’s passion and the appeal of wine in a more casual manner through regular newsletters and online content. It is set up for consumers to easily and casually experience the world of “Y by YOSHIKI”.
Meanwhile, the “Masterpiece Club” will offer priority access to limited items including luxury California wines and champagnes, as well as the opportunity to be among the first to purchase rare wines that are expected to sell out quickly, including the just-announced “Yoshitomo Nara Collaboration Wine” and the “Domaine Takahiko Collaboration Wine,” which began production in Yoichi, Hokkaido in May. Initially, the subscription service will be available only in Japan, but there are plans of future global expansion.
