PHILADELPHIA, PA – Emerging artist Theo Major (@heytheomajor), formerly known as Derrick Ju’Wan, is proud to announce the release of his debut single and video “SUPA” featuring Shawn Smith. This single is the first taste of Theo’s upcoming EP “Pastel Soul,” which is set to introduce listeners to his genre-bending and edgy yet smooth sound that is always soulful.
The theme of “SUPA” was written from the perspective of someone who was trying to win over Theo’s college girlfriend while he was taking her for granted. Writing the song allowed Theo to flesh out his feelings about the situation and serves as a reminder to never take someone for granted.
Theo’s music is a fresh take on R&B and Soul that he describes as “unconventional.” He draws inspiration from the contributions of black artists who have come before him and aims to make his mark on the culture and world. Theo’s musical influences include Andre 3000, T-Pain, Sade, Ryan Leslie, and Childish Gambino, among others.
Theo is passionate about music and always strives to give listeners a glimpse into his world. He has opened for national acts such as Masego, Kota the Friend, and ELHAE and is proud of his accomplishments so far. In the future, Theo plans to start a music label, tour internationally, score music for a film, and write a musical. He also has plans to transition into producing TV series and films, opening his own theater company, and theater school in Philadelphia.
Theo hopes that fans take away a message of not taking things for granted and embracing change from his music and this project. Follow Theo Major on social media to stay updated on his latest projects and releases.
