The Warrior Angel of The Thorn: Alexander Kussovski

As the curtain rises on the subsequent tour of The Thorn, a visually stunning and emotionally fascinating theatrical production, Alexander Kussovski is ready to step into the spotlight once again. The Bulgarian actor and stuntman, who has carved a unique path through Hollywood, is gearing up for a three-month journey across the U.S., starting with rehearsals in Denver this January. For Kussovski, this tour is more than a performance—it’s the culmination of years of dedication to his craft.

Kussovski first joined The Thorn in 2024, taking on the roles of a warrior angel and a Roman soldier. The production, which combines breathtaking visuals with poignant narratives, toured the country, including a memorable stop in New York. Performing for thousands of people over two months, Kussovski found his place in a show that demands technical precision and emotional depth. The energy of the audience, especially in a city like New York, is something he’ll never forget. The tour solidified Alexander’s belief in the transformative power of live theatre and left him eager to return for more.

Kussovski’s journey to this moment has been anything but conventional. Born in Sofia, Bulgaria, he began training in Taekwondo at six, earning his black belt by 12. His early years were marked by a fascination with movement and discipline, which eventually evolved into live martial arts demonstrations.

In 2021, Kussovski’s talent gained national recognition when he won the Golden Buzzer on Bulgaria’s Got Talent. This moment marked the beginning of a shift in focus from martial arts to acting. He enrolled in theatre classes and discovered a new passion for storytelling. A chance encounter with a local stunt coordinator soon brought him to NU Boyana film studios, where he transitioned into stunt work. His first film, History of Mankind, introduced him to the cinematic world, blending his martial arts expertise with his growing interest in performance.

That same year, Kussovski moved to Los Angeles to study acting at the New York Film Academy (NYFA). Immersing himself in the city’s creative scene, he quickly landed roles in short films, commercials, and music videos. A highlight of his time at NYFA was playing Peter Pan in Peter and the Starcatcher, a production that drew sold-out crowds for three consecutive nights.

His dual talents as an actor and stuntman opened doors to collaborations with industry giants like 87North Productions, known for their work with premier stunt professionals. Alexander worked on projects like Bang Bang Betty: Valerie’s Revenge and the award-winning film The Proposal. These experiences laid the groundwork for his current success with The Thorn.

As Alexander Kussovski prepares to take The Thorn back on tour, he is also juggling other creative ventures. He recently completed a short film, Keep Going, which he wrote and produced, and is set to work on an Assassin’s Creed proof-of-concept project.

Kussovski stands out in the crowded entertainment landscape for his versatility. Whether performing a high-octane stunt sequence or delivering a heartfelt monologue, he brings a level of commitment that elevates every project he undertakes. The Thorn exemplifies this physical and emotional storytelling blend, making it the perfect show for the Bulgarian performer.

For audiences across the U.S., the upcoming tour of The Thorn offers a chance to witness Kussovski’s artistry up close. And for the actor, it’s another step in a journey that began in Sofia and has taken him to stages and screens worldwide. With each performance, Kussovski continues to prove that greatness is forged at the intersection of discipline, adaptability, and passion. As the tour begins, do not forget to follow him on social media to stay updated.
